Latest Assetto Corsa Porsche Video Highlights 911 RSR; Laguna Seca Teased for Future Inclusion

We’re only hours away from the first seven Porsches arriving in players’ hands in Assetto Corsa. As detailed last week, PC players will be getting the first crack at the Stuttgart manufacturer, with PS4 and XB1 owners slated to receive Porsche Pack Volume 1 in November.

After the last teaser focused on the modern hybrid hypercar that is the 918 Spyder, the latest video from Kunos Simulazioni takes a page from the marque’s history books. In 1974, Porsche created the 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, with the enlarged engine producing 230 PS. With brakes from the vaunted 917 endurance racer and a featherweight 900kg curb weight, the RSR 3.0 was nearly twice as expensive as the 2.7 RS, but even more of a track-ready weapon.

Done up in the evocative Gulf colours, the RSR 3.0 gets its 87 seconds in the spotlight up top. It’s a dramatic video, featuring beauty shots that wouldn’t look out of place in an actual Porsche ad before changing gears to a pounding drum beat.

Leave it to Kunos’ Marco Massarutto to get people excited about what’s even further off in the distance though, before the first Porsche pack even touches down. Continuing his tradition of teasing via his personal Facebook, Marco posted this little nugget early Sunday morning (we recommend watching the video if you’ve got the chance):

In few months we are going to give you the essence of all of this. Ah what do you say? The track too, yes. ;)

Now while there’s too many tasty Porsches in the video to list here, the important takeaway is the comment about the circuit. That’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and its inclusion in Assetto Corsa would mark it as the first (real-world) US-based circuit in the game. Could the Monterey circuit be appearing alongside the third and final Porsche pack? We’ll have to wait and see.

Porsche Pack Volume One releases on Steam tomorrow, October 25. It arrives on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November. Don’t forget to head to our Assetto Corsa sub-forum to discuss this news and other aspects of the game.

Can’t wait to give this particular car a whirl. I should feel very, very at home in it. Now I just have to find time to actually play AC a bit again! Haven’t had time to touch it (or any other game) for almost a month now… Stupid RL!

Just got a chance to spend an hour in the 991 Carrera S. and the ’74 RSR 3.0. Two quick comments: WOW, loving them, they both feel extremely natural when compared with RL Porsches. Surprisingly I’m immediately more comfortable in the modern 991 than I am in the RSR with it’s stiff suspension combined with light-weight (makes for a LOT less weight transfer). The RSR on-throttle feels a lot like my RL experiences when I stiffen the rear sway-bar too much. (Well, too much for my preference that is, since everyone likes something different). Very impressed. I’ll try to pop over to the main thread for AC and give it a more thorough write-up.

They still need to adjust the ai difficulty..it seems medium is more difficult than hard and easy is too easy..fix the race replays

They need to fix the race replays ..on the ps4..I’m sick of the half point replays…I want to see strategy to finish on replays..not the last lap..

I agree with Donnced. Improvements need to be made. And the PC environment as much as possible needs to be brought over the console side.

I do however think that will be a hard thing to do. These guys are getting a cram course in PS/XB console ops. I think they want to remain faithful the PC model. So they are going to have a learning curve to deal with.

The major gaff they made was not bringing full network and lobby operation to the initial release. They could have lived with the delay if they had a workable on-line game.
The question was/is does Kunos have the required network infrastructure to allow private on-line rooms? And other network options. Based on their size, I would have to guess no.

What keeps me interested is I think they are dedicated to making their game please console users in much the same way the PC version makes those users happy.
How good can Assetto Corsa console be? I guess we have to wait and see.
Waiting while throwing new and vintage Porsche’s around real life tracks is not a bad thing

They should better work hard on assetto corsa on the console and change the state from beta testing game to full game adding some basic features like :

    -Calibration screen.
    -Personal button mapping.
-HUD apps like tyre temperature and degradation.
-FFB options like the PC version.
    -Telemetry screen.
    -Car settings like PC version.
-Track options like the PC version.
    -Online leaderboards.
    -Private personalised online lobbies.
    -Sound fix.
-Huge Framerate improving up to the promised 60fps.
    -Game crashes in special events.

After that if they want they can try to sell me the Porsche DLC’s and others..
A real shame the state of the game in consoles… And still don’t understand why they said that the last delay was only to avoid the “football world cup”….

I will add my +1 to every post I can that includes personalized button mapping for AC on consoles. The rest of the list is important no doubt, but being forced to use the triggers for accel/brake is proving the be a pretty heavily locked gate for me. There are probably plenty of reasons why doing it this way is better, but that’s besides the point. At this level there really is no argument for not being given the option.

Sony and Microsoft should have done a better job at QA, its not the fault of kunos unless they hold back PCs and anger their largest userbase in the meantime.

I decided to give this game a second chance, even some career races is still very difficult on very easy.
So i’m very happy for the news about Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and of course about the Porsches which is coming to PS4 in november :)

It’s like Christmas several times a year with Kunos. A laser scanned Laguna Seca would be a fantastic and very popular addition to their lineup. Beautiful demo too. I can hear obvious improvements in the sound as well. Can’t wait to drive my first Porsche on a laser scanned track!
