  1. SonicConqueror

A basic list of 4 A-Spec seasonal events coming up (in order):
    Classic Muscle Car event
    Supercar Festival event
    Honda Civic event
    British Lightweights event

  2. HuskyGT

This one wasn’t actually that bad. The “chase” the rabbit thing wasn’t that terrible. This was fun, I must say.

Used the Suzuki Cervo with stage 1 Turbo and a custom tranny to fix that horribly long 7th gear. Surprisingly, it was an easy win by a considerable 0:45:000; except in the kart track which I won by a breath-taking 0:00:002 in my second try.

  3. Amac500

The AI is alot better, I really enjoyed their extra aggression and I had alot of fun…. for about the first 2 races, then I got bored of K(rap)-Cars. PLEASE GIVE US THIS AI WITH SOME FUN CARS!!!! A Le Mans car expert event would be fun, maybe split it, 3 LMP and 3 GT races for it. A 600pp event would be awesome, 550 would be cool, just something we can drive!

  4. jagenigma

Very easy, I used the OFC concept from Diahatsu tuned to 355pp and the Honda Beat for Tokyo Bay Kart at 355pp as well.

  5. Highrev

Did it on the Daihatsu Midget II, fully tuned with ballast to get it down to the limit PP and get the weight distribution to 50:50.
    I love that little truck.

  6. Freezer445

I have to say, that this is one of the most fun Seasonal Events in GT5.
Who would’ve though K-cars were so much fun to drive.
Ran 2 races with a tuned Daihastu Copen.
Then trimmed down some of it’s BHP to compete on the other tracks.
PD must have a hard time focusing on GT5 and development on GT6.

    1. Pit Crew

Their not really focused on GT5 right now other than weekly seasonal events.
GT6 is Priority One at this time…as it should be

  7. TakeshiSkunk

My first thought was to run my Move in this, but now I’m thinking I might try out the Z ACT :)

I love kei cars, there’s nothing wrong with going slow once in a while!

  8. paracefan2002

I have never had so much trouble with a race as I am now. The Kart track is impossible (at least for me) to get first place:( Any suggestions?

    1. MeanElf

I think it was the K-car seasonal that I ran the go-kart in and it did well, even at Tokyo. Not sure if you can use these this time though (still mid way through the Suzuka 1000km)

    2. Both Barrels

Maintaining momentum is the key, since these cars do not accelerate. Drifting the corners on the kart track. I seem to never have my foot off of the gas

    3. Amac500

Bro drifting the corners is slowing you down, sideways is only fast on dirt. It seems to me in this event sliding it takes 10 mph of my speed if I didn’t. If you want to keep momentum brake early and gas through the corner, you’ll have more speed coming off and will keep momentum, but DON’T let it slide

    4. Both Barrels

I get your meaning, by “drift” I only mean that the MR layouts tend to go through the last double apex nicely sideways

  9. domsmx

I’ve just finished this today ALL gold, the keys are drifts and draft.. Had hard time at Tokyo tho but with several tryings could overtake all of them in the 2nd lap. Got some nice racing suits & helmets it was fun!

  10. Pit Crew

This seasonal was cool once I did it, and my newest tune is consistent enough, so though I was initially peeved, for me it eventually worked out.

Still mad about the Z28 300SL Premium to Standard thing (TVRs too). Dont really see the point but, as with all things in life (and PD) “It is what it is”

    1. ManiacRS

Well, actually… And sorry for being off topic here…

Just opened my game to check… Camaro Z28, Mercedes 300SL and all TVRs are, still, very premium… Interior… Can take them to photo mode… I’d do a backup if I were you…

    2. Pit Crew

As myOP says, PD made those Premiums, Standards also.
They are the same car but these are just visually downgraded Premiums.

Did you even look at the 2 cars in question? Try checking the Online Car Dealership model, against the Premium model. I did and the Standard 69 Z28 looks exactly like theStandard 69 SS Camaro but the Premium 69 Z28 has slimmer dimensions…and a Black Grille.

The Standard Specs and Premiums specs for the Z28 Standard and Z28 Premium are exactly the same, as is the 300SL Standard and Premiums specs.

Why would I need to back up my game?

    3. Both Barrels

The only purpose it seems to serve is to simply add cars. Collecting cars for the sake of collecting cars I guess. Just when you thought you had everything…

  11. Radracing

This is actually fun. I love how you can just drift past the other cars in the turns and go run to the fridge to get something to snack on while on the straights. hehe! it takes forever to get to the next corner. The kart track is a challenge thou. I can only get second place.

    1. tpark103

It’s fun to just go through the cars and use bizarre ones that I would never imagine using. I just run down my list a try to challenge myself without coming in here and whining about not getting my wish.

    2. MuoNiuLa

This event has been done before though. I don’t see why I should appreciate PD giving us an event, taking it down without warning or explaining why, and then putting it back up.

  12. Amac500

Geez, we just a k-car one, coneon PD, we can be more creative then that. How about another expert event, like te Ferrari F1 event, for Le Mams cars? That would be a riot, the expert level ones are awesome.

  13. TomBrady

I normally don’t complain but these are the most boring cars in the entire game. Not even using comfort hard tires can save these things lol There are a couple Kei cars that are ok but overall they’re the most boring cars ever.

But of course, if we want variety, not everyone’s going to be happy everytime. You can’t please everyone. Although, this isn’t the first time they’ve use Kei cars, so their bias towards japanese cars is once again rearing its ugly head. Whatever, better than not have new events to do every week.

    1. MeanElf

The bias is logical. All of the seasonals have had repeats, even F1.

Like you say though, not everyone will be happy with all choices.

  14. Brunskill777

Wow, these were good in my 355 pp OFC1. And the AI! I’ve never seen them doing so much overtaking OFF THE RACING LINE!! I even got 4 AI cars abreast down the grand valley straight! Good seasonal, keep this up in the future.

  15. Lambob

Having just tried my new TM T500RS wheel with the Wheel Stand Pro last night, this is an entirely new game now. I haven’t smiled that much since I first played SMB on the original NES. To those wondering if it’s different than the G25, it is. If your serious into this as a hobby, spend the money (even if you don’t have it)

    1. Sick Cylinder

Welcome to the club Lambob – great choice on both counts!

I started the game again when I got a DFGT and Wheelstand Pro, because it was so transformed.

I then started it a third time when I got the T500RS at Christmas – I’m loving it!

  16. Brunskill777

These look a bit rubbish, too low pp and pretty terrible cars but I haven’t tried it yet so can’t judge or complain. I really hope I enjoy them after the great time and drifts last week.

  17. warpkez

Tokyo has me beat! I took my RM Cappi and the best I could do is 2nd with a gap of 1.5 seconds. Tried a normal Cappi and it was all over the place.

  18. TurboProp

Boogity, boogity, boogity, let’s go racing boys (with toy cars on bias-ply retread tires). I like the “Barbie” cars comment but I think even Barbie would make Ken take these “Races”…this is weak stuff Guys. Now, Back to FM4…

  19. Sick Cylinder

I might be an exception, but I really enjoyed that event – so thank you Polyphony Digital!

The only track I had trouble with was Rome where I found that a Cappuccino started in 1st and romped away from the field. Tip – go in and out of Rome until the Cappuccino starts in 4th position.

I used a premium cappucino because I want to drive with a proper interior view and the display off.

For those who frequently complain about chasing the rabbit (or should it be a Hare?), try doing early level races in the game, but with a slower car and poor tyres – you start 7th and will be passed on the straights and it can be a challenge. Add interior view, no display a stick shift and wheel for maximum immersion – had a lot of fun this week with the Mach 1 Mustang, M5 and C63.

More premium cars please Polyphony Digital!

  20. Jaycue58

Yawn ……………………..think i’m gonna take my car out and crash it ……………that might be more fun!!!!!!!!:(

  21. SonicConqueror

Can’t say much, but I think the next A-Spec seasonal event in 2 weeks time will be the Classic Muscle Car event. It happened before, last year; a day after PSN went offline for almost 4 weeks. Jeez…

  22. COLOSAL TOSSLE

Okie dokie, job done. All races but kart track are easy at 315pp or less im now doing tokyo at 310.
Kart track needs 345pp or more for me.handling for FF cars ok with suspension at roughly 40/-15….6.0 both springs,0.6-4 camber & ballast can help, try 80kgs at -30

Transmission at 95mph,move slider left then adjust final ratio to top speed….juust thought id chuck this set up here just to help anybody,it may not suit all driving styles, and remember keep momentum up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..critical as blood to my head is

  23. Pit Crew

Im sorry but im finding it hard to grasp the rational of turning a premium into a standard. Can I get some positive (intelligent not obnoxious) feedback on this concept please? Jordan, Famine, anybody please?

    1. COLOSAL TOSSLE

maybe it was standard in gt4 or gt5 prologue, then they updated it.
I like when this happens,i try to find things that the premium car cannot do,maybe suspension settings,or weight removal.
Thats the tosses 2 strokes worth,or imo

    2. Pit Crew

@karelpipa The 69 Z28 and 300SL Benz are already Premium cars that can purchased anytime, yet PD converted them to Standard for lord knows why. In a game with 1,000 plus cars, they felt a need to visually downgrade these cars and the TVRs for that matter to extend the OCD menu.

Its cars like the Mopar family Mercedes family, The RZ Supra, Ford GTs etc that havent been seen in the OCD for a longtime, that should be implemented.

Just because we collect the standards for their rare appeal doesnt mean we love them that much for PD to work backwards, changing Premium cars to Standards to accomodate us. That was my point.

Colossal they the same cars as the premium, down to the Specs and Price. Z28 Standard looks just like the SS… Im Quite disappointed.

    3. COLOSAL TOSSLE

There is subtle differences.Premium gets max power 200 rmp lower, torque 200 rpm higher than the standard Z28.Did you think that was all,no way, they throw in… wait for it………..for free…….. 0.1 kgfm more, yes,MORE torque……..but wait theres more……………….no there aint, bye

    4. Pit Crew

Thats because the break in mileage is already coded in OCD standards. They dont need to be broken in like normal lvl/prize ticket 0/0/0 cars. It’s full tune HP will be same as the Premium and wont increase with mileage after 200 mile Oil Change

    5. Pit Crew

Its Performance wont change either as I and my 200-220 compadres SPANK that car all day every day in the Daytona Rooms with Cudas, Cougars, Art Morrisons Subaru 22B Coupes,TVR T350Cs, Mazda RX7s C2 63 Vettes, etc etc

Its a great Circuit Car Stock, tuned or RM though… well cant RM standards so…or did PD change that too?

  24. XXI

I often wonder if Polyphony would be better off just stopping the free updates.
You guys/gals are insanely hard to satisfy. No specific decision seems correct.

It can’t always be lobster and shrimp.

    1. SonicConqueror

XXI, the last time we had a version update for GT5 was over 3 months ago. That’s gotta be a new personal record for GT5.

    2. XXI

I understand, it’s all too obvious they’ve moved on and are focused on GT6. That’s a good thing, patience is king these days.

    3. SonicConqueror

Do not forget one thing: there is still only 5 B-Spec Challenge seasonal events in there; the first being released on the 27/10/2011.

    4. karelpipa

      This is not update XXI

I often wonder if PD listens and leave single races and rathen than that create championships

    5. Pit Crew

With the total lack of imagination bein used to create these seasonal events XXl, maybe they should.

I take Kaz at his word that GT6 is top priority, and have supported that decision without complaints, but it can’t be that hard to brainstorm ideas as a team and come up with an event that coud truly fire up the fanbase and encourage positive participation in these Seasonals.

Thank God someone finally started a Seasonals Ideas thread in the main forum. Maybe PD can get some fresh input if they tune in.

    6. MuoNiuLa

Maybe we’d be easier to satisfy if PD actually tried their best. There are better events in the other GT games. Why can’t they do the same good stuff here?

    1. UrieHusky

I caved to my compulsion to complete everything in every game I ever own and I was so bored afterwards that I actually started playing Bejewelled to feel something again.

      No, I’m not even kidding.

I once played a Garbage Truck Simulator that was more entertaining.

I think I should get rid of my GT5 disc before I abandon the series I’ve adored with all my heart since I was a wee child.

  25. chassy

Where the he’ll are the real racing events. No racing cars, no slick tires, no GT class cars events. Just a bunch of races with Barbie cars. Im sick of this types of races!

    1. SonicConqueror

Then why would you say it out loud to everyone?
The returning seasonal events are more harder, and more rewarding for anyone to race and receive.

    2. another_jakhole

      haha Barbie cars. smh

There’s a long list of other events to do involving race cars. Have you done them too much or are they not difficult enough?

    3. TurboProp

Could not have said it any better, every 2 weeks I come back to see if anything is worth firing up the PS3 for…zilch, nadda, nuttin’. Why did I buy all that DLC for?!

    4. chassy

these events do not present a challenge, not a single event that has not already completed. but do not really remember playing an event with GT class cars and soft tires. only f1 events were fun and not present a challenge. for SonicConqueror, harder, really?!?! the only thing that gave me a little trouble was lamborghini series and only in the event of the kart track (I forget the name of the circuit, I think it was the 3rd)

  26. Pit Crew

I try to stay positive about this game much as I can, but the last 2 events feels like PD has officially hit the bottom, as far as imagination (well it was getting pretty obvious) especially since a european or DTM or Rally event hasnt appeared as a ASpec (Not TT far as Rally), but a consistent rehashing of Beginner ASpecs…(Palms to Face)

The OCD is just as pathetic, I mean a Premium Camaro Z28 and Corvette? We just got some Chevy’s not long ago, but a Mopar OCD has been absent and the Cuda 440 SixPack is the best Classic US Muscle car on the game…. Whatevs PD this is not your best month so far concerning the seasonals. (GTAcademy was enjoyable for me)

    1. another_jakhole

You, Pit Crew, are usually/always reasonable. Please, be the the one to start a thread about Seasonal Events and how to improve them in the GT5 section. MAYBE it will help, since I believe it hasn’t been done on GTP before.

    2. Pit Crew

^ Its a standard for this OCD, but a Premium all day everyday. I didnt even buy the car , there was no point. PD turned a Premium into a Standard, and im not praising that.

Thanks AJ, I really thought one (a thread) was up though. Actually working on my trading/gifting (mostly gifting) reputation right now and was mulling over starting a 0/1/LT Thread. ( No miles, 1 Switch Lite Tune) if one doesnt exist already. No of the tunes are permanent ( weight or engine chassis bar). Well see what happens. Thanks again AJ :tup (^…^)

    3. SonicConqueror

They didn’t turn the premium model Camaro Z28 into it’s standard model cousin; there’s both versions of the Camaro Z28 in GT5, except that the standard model Z28 (after purchase) has better up-to-date Power & Torque than it’s premium model cousin. The same goes for the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe, TreVoR Tuscan Speed 6 & TreVoR Tamora (TreVoR, as in original company founder, Trevor Wilkinson).

  27. TokoTurismo

Nice event and photo especially, but I’m to lazy to fire up my PS3 nowadays. -_-‘

Btw. Wheres Subaru vs Lancer and Boxer Spirit? Better be in GT6 then.

    1. SonicConqueror

Also, our first look at the standard model Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe ’54 & the standard model Chevrolet Camaro Z28 ’69; both of whom also has a ”premium” model version of each.

    2. another_jakhole

That’s strange. I know that it was recently done with a TVR, but I guess we figured that it was due to the whole group of TVR’s being added and someone was careless adding them in.

    3. SonicConqueror

To another_jakhole, I strongly agree with you. The 2 standard model TVRs (Tamora & Tuscan Speed 6) was unusually added to the lineup of cars used 3-4 weeks ago by PD & GT. They did the same thing today with the standard model Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe ’54 & the standard model Chevrolet Camaro Z28 ’69.
