Microsoft Slashes Price of Xbox One S Ahead of E3 Briefing

Starting today, ahead of its E3 briefing, Microsoft is cutting the recommended retail price of select Xbox One S bundles by $50.

Confirmed by the company on its official Twitter account, the price cut is only temporary. The discount, which brings 500GB bundles down to $250 and 1TB bundles down to $299, will apply through to next weekend – Saturday, June 17.

The full list of bundles discounted can be viewed below:

  • Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundle (500GB) – $249

Released last summer, the Xbox One S is 40% smaller than the original. The slimmer model also brings 4K Ultra HD and HDR (High Dynamic Range) support to the console’s specification.

The new pricing structure appears to be a strategic move by Microsoft, coming just hours before the official unveiling of Project Scorpio. The Scorpio’s debut is due to come later today, with the briefing due to start at 2100 UTC (convert to your local time zone here).

With the final specifications, design, price and even the name of the new console due to be revealed, we’ll be bringing you all the information on this event as it happens.
