So this guys complain about SRF because it makes the game “unrealistic”, they do the seasonal, get EASY MONEY (thanks PD) then they go and use their hacked cars with 30,000HP?…..The world would be a better place without them indeed.

  2. Pharlap

I always enjoy the seasonals…SRF on or not. There are plenty of races where you can go and enjoy without having SRF turned on if that’s what you like. I’ve been playing for 2 years and still have a good time.
My only wish is that PD would update the NCD with new cars…after all, it’s been 2 years and several new cars have been produced. Just enjoy the game for what it is…a game.

  3. HuskyGT

Honestly, I though these events would be lame but they were actually a lot of fun. A the beginning I decided to go with the Cooper 1.3i, but they kicked my butt really bad. My almost-stock Countryman was enough to beat them in Deep Forest, and the rest were completely annihilated with my 2005 Supercharged Cooper.

IT was easy indeed. Took the lead in lap 2 in Rome with the Supercharged Mini. And I’m no great driver, so that did surprised me a bit.

What does SRF do anyway? I didn’t really feel a difference in my Mini’s with it on or off.

    1. HarVee

It gives the car more grip to help the car recover from skidding. Cars that are more prone to over steer are more effected by this aid than other cars, and allows most cars to turn around corners at full throttle without skidding out.

In other words, it’s an unrealistic aid, that gives a car unrealistic amounts of grip, while challenging the core aspects that makes this game classified as a Simulator.

    1. TokoTurismo

Mind as well forget it. Theres always waiting for TTs, DTs and a new one for next week. That’s what I’m doing anyway.

    2. NCRthree

HuskyGT-Test it out and see for yourself. I did. Take any car in practice mode and switch between SRF on and off. It gives the car much more grip almost as much as a one level tire upgrade. Then do a tire upgrade and turn SRF off. Depending on the car and tires it may be similar to SRF on with a lesser tire. But it does give a sloppy driver a safety net.

I’ve been dropping a tire grade to counter SRF’s effects. Makes the Events more challenging especially this one.

  4. discostued

I want a stealth McLaren as well

SRF on or off I love these events.

Like most of you I have completed most of the game (not stupid 5 hour races, I work and have family) and these events brings new life to the game for a couple of hours.

Haters of SRF will always complain and if its off they will complain about something else.

For the rest of us….. We love that our game has a new lease of life.

  5. Hentis

Doesn’t matter to me that SRF is on or off, I’m not joining the “I’m gonna get all emotional over a driving aid being on” club. I can drive and win with it on or off it doesn’t bother me. I have to say it was a great little scenario though and a rare chance to drive around the Monaco circuit. I won a Pug RC 206, or was it 206 RC, not sure. Long may the emotional instability of people on here continue :)

    1. TokoTurismo

I just wish PD would just make it opitional, it shouldn’t be difficult at all, but you know what, I won’t bother either. I bet other fans from other racing games come in here to see us complain, which is embarrassing imo, wish everyone knew that. I’ll instead just do the seasonal events without caring for the SRF (which would feel weird), and just happily wait for GT6 to arrive.

Besides, theres TTs, DTs and a new one PD came up with, can’t wait for those because they always have rally in them. :)

  6. Since80three

Smh… Clueless. PD, you are slowly alienating your fans with this forced SRF bulls**t. Please stop. You’re insulting us all.

  7. RESHIRAM5

For those who want to make a valid point like it shouldn’t be forced I don’t consider that whining.
I’m talking about people who Just yell without a valid reason.

  8. DYLAN777-is-not

It’s so fun playing a racing sim game with a permenant driving aide on. What’s there reasoning!

    1. NCRthree

Well the way things are going, PD is replacing the old seasonals with forced SRF Events. So if this continues forced SRF Seasonal Events is all that will be left.

What you consider whining, others consider a valid complaint.

    2. Both Barrels

RESHIRAM5, It needs to be heard. A straightforward explanation would be welcomed. I would like for the proprietors of this organization to delve into this. SRF sucks loudly.

    3. kekke2000

The Seasonals is the only way to play new A-spec events with prize money and trophies. I play the SRF or not. But I can’t figure out why it’s forced. It really should be optional.

    4. Quakebass

Ok, exactly how is it whining? It is making the experience of the game less enjoyable, so we have right to complain.

      This isn’t hard to fix.

    5. Pit Crew

It should be optional, like kekke said. I bet it has to do with the learning curve as far as the Driving Physics are concerned, and trying to appeal to more potential GT series customers. Having them go directly to the money making seasonals while supplying usable cars via the OCD.

Least its not in the Time trials or that latest Overtake mobile obstacle Time trial, which I liked but maybe a full course one in the future?

    6. TokoTurismo

^ Haha. At least I don’t treat GT5 like its real life. Like you said its just a game. But We want PD to understand that forcing SRF on isn’t right, why don’t they explain? They look for drama…

  9. infamousphil

    Rrring… Rrring… Rrring…

Hello?… GT gripe line. Can I help you?

    My GT5 is broken… I cain’t turn of SRF…

Ok, call 1 800-345-7669… Hope this helps you feel better ;)

  10. ExplodeTheApex

Despite SRF being forced on, and the events being incredibly easy, I really enjoyed this Seasonal Event! I think PD got the tire choice and PP settings just right, and the Mini Cooper S ’11 that I used gripped like hell (not just from SRF) and the torque in that car is unbelievable :) I just enjoy beautiful cars on beautiful circuits (Eiger Nordwand Reverse in particular) and that is what Gran Turismo is all about!

  11. P0UP0N

Could care less about any of the seasonals, only in it to race online. Besides, offering up tickets we already own is even less tempting – Level 0, really?

  12. DrKronin

I’m seriously considering starting a crowd-funded project to buy space on a billboard visible from PD’s office — politely suggesting (in Japanese) that they allow us to turn SRF off in the seasonals. At the very least, it might compel them to at least tell us what their thinking is. I just can’t imagine what makes them think forcing it on is a good idea…

    1. HuskyGT

I think an explanation from PD would be more than enough. I haven’t touched seasonals since last year anyway, and this SRF thing doesn’t help at all. I’m not the best driver by far, but I don’t use assists. I like to know I’m in control of my car and not the game.

    2. infamousphil

I do the seasonal TTs status sake and gift my ‘Best of Friends’ cars, helmets and uniforms. And the other seasonals for the credits because I need to fund my collection activity.

It’s a really cool way to share the GT experience.

    1. HuskyGT

HAHA! Yeah, I’ve been playing GT4 for the past four months or so. Haven’t touched GT5 other than to download the C7 and keep the game up to date. I truly don’t understand what makes an older version of the game much more appealing to play. I mean, GT4 has nothing against GT5. Even with its broken physics and the lack of cockpit view (my favorite thing about GT5), it’s still much more rewarding.

I’m hunting down GT2 right now. That will keep me entertained until GT6 goes out for whatever console they release it for.

    2. infamousphil

I saved a race replay just to get images of it. It’s like Christmas 1995 all over again. The “standard” FINA BMW McLaren F1 race car ’97 just don’t do it for me. Oooh, did yall know it competed in GT500 too!?…

      “Yellow Corn”

  13. HarVee

Mini Coopers have enough grip as it is, so why do they even need SRF to begin with?

    Failed PDI fuzzylogic.

  14. nofearmx94

Haven’t raced one of these SRF seasonal’s since they started this mess what 5 seasonal’s ago, oh well still love GT5 and everyone in this community, see you on the track join my Rally lobbies !!

    1. HarVee

I know right? I’ve got $22.00 USD and nothing really to spend it on, so some DLC would be good right now!

    2. Amac500

I do wish they would give GT5 that last hooray, spec 3.0 DLC, but I don’t expect it. I just hate how when there is a new game coming out and we all know it there are those months of nothing for the game waiting for the next release.

    3. Both Barrels

Amac500 makes a good point, based on the possibility of GT6 coming to the PS4. There will be a lot of players clinging to GT5, so why not release a completed version via updates.

    4. infamousphil

I’d rather see GT6 released on the PS3 because they began the project prior to the PS4 software development. We all know how slow PD works…

It’s time for a new GT and the PS3 is a great platform. Let Sony release the PS4, work out the bugs and then have PD do what they do. We could have a fresh, new and more thought out GT without the problems of GT5 by this fall… GT2 was better than the original and GT4 is an improved GT3 in some respects.

This would give PD about 2 years to illustrate what the PS4 is really capable of. Some of us know what happens when PD is rushed into releasing updated GT… remember GT2’s career disc debacle?… GT4’s renig on online play? We cried our little eyes out loud for a new GT and got screwed with both barrels ;) big time… our fault. Not theirs.

Relax… This is going to be great… unless a giant foot steps on us ;)

    1. HuskyGT

The Coupe and the future Paceman look really nice. Though I prefer to see them in GT6 so there’s new stuff to play around with.

  15. exiledfrenchy

Have to try it out after work, like it! Especially since I literally bought a MINI yesterday and still have to wait for delivery :)

  16. RESHIRAM5

If you people don’t complain about SRF for a week.

I’ll guarantee a Porsche Licence for GT (I’ll buy won if you don’t whine).

  17. AcenSpades

i would love to take my MINI-UV for a spin on it, is it allowed or do i have to stick to the “minis”??

  18. ps3finest

I would have thought with an event like this, all of the short, or “mini” courses would have been used. Nonetheless, looks like a fun challenge. Might dust off GT5 to take a look.

    1. ps3finest

I was thinking of the mini autumn ring and the (west?) motegi short course, but I see what your saying.

    1. Pit Crew

I tried it, it was fun Minis are always a blast to flog around. SRF didn’t seem to come into play to much, i guess cause of FF drivetrain. Rome was a lil to easy, so once I caught leader (2nd lap) I played Road Hog for 3 laps lol. I’ll finish last 3 tomorrow.
