Mixed Reality Video: A Run With PCARS’ Caterham R500

It’s been a while since we covered anything related to Marcel Pfister’s Mixed Reality series of gameplay videos. After the last few clips showcased iRacing’s RUF GT3 Cup car (tackling Laguna Seca first, followed by the Green Hell), we’re back to Project CARS, Slightly Mad Studios’ multi-platform sim racer.

Project CARS is currently the only game on the market that fully supports the Oculus Rift VR headset in retail form. Once again we get to witness the effect Oculus Rift has on the immersion level of the latest driving games. This time, Marcel’s taking us onboard the raucous Caterham R500 as it winds its way around Oulton Park. If you belong to the group of people who can’t afford riding in topless cars because the draft may damage either your hair or your sinuses (or both), you should be pleased with the following video.

Marcel combines Oculus Rift with greenscreen technology to bring the joy of driving to a better level. You can check out his tutorial to recreate the setup here.

Wonderful video. Love the picking up the wheel and attaching it in particular. This car at any layout of Oulton Park is fantastic.

    cool video,

I am back to playing Pcars for now and maybe until end of August. Only have the PS4 controller for now thanks to G27 not being supported on the PS4. Anyways finally starting to have a little fun with Pcars with decent controller settings and having difficulty adjusted to suit my driving taste at the moment. Current in early stages of career mode and running these cars.
