Today marks two weeks since the Gran Turismo Sport Closed Beta Test Version first went live. While initially restricted to US PSN accounts only, Polyphony Digital has promised an expansion to other regions — specifically the EU — as part of Phase Two.
It looks like that has (technically) begun happening. A significant number of GTPlanet members from across the globe have reported receiving beta test codes within the last 24 hours. These codes have indeed gone to US PSN accounts: it’s just that they were created on systems that reside outside of the USA.
In a bizarre twist, Canadians have been receiving non-functioning beta codes. This is likely due to the Canadian PlayStation site utilizing the American PS blog link (where the American sign-up was found) instead of a dedicated Canuck offering. We haven’t yet heard of other country PSN accounts receiving codes, so stay tuned for any updates.
This expansion is sure to offer the servers a more robust stress test, with players connecting from all corners of the globe. While no timeline has been given for the official expansion of the beta into European countries, a dedicated GT Sport section is said to have been opened in the PlayStation Europe beta testing forum.
Have you signed up for Phase Two? You can do so here. Have you signed up on the US application page and received a non-functioning code? Sound off in the comments section.
