  1. They should have make more restricted options, talking about realism, never seen before nascar car’s in monza.. is such a fantasy thing like f1 in moon…

    beside that nice graphics

    1. LSX

Yep, a fantasy, like when Nascar went racing at Suzuka and Twin Ring Motegi right? Or the planned exhibition (that fell through) at the Lausitzring? It’s really not that crazy, they’ve gone further from home before, and could do it again. Other than that track eating brakes on a Cup car due to the long straights that end in chicanes, it would be a good place for them to run.

The Cup cars, and their lesser powered siblings, the Nationwide cars run on road circuits already. And in my opinion, need to be racing on road circuits more frequently.

      Sears Point
      Watkins Glenn
      Circuit Gilles Villenuve
      Road America
And many others used for testing and exhibitions.

      Just enjoy it.

  2. MatksiMonk

Interestingly the 42 car is driven by Juan Pablo Montoya, who I believe still holds the record for the fastest lap recorded in a F1 car, which he accomplished at Monza…

.. but yeah, NASCAR drivers aren’t very good ;)

    1. Vulcao

      Don’t be so anxious :)

It looks like the official GT page US (I said US) has a lot of news. I’m not sure if they will be published here, but I guess so.

Just wait, I know you can do it. You’ve been waiting for 6 years now :)

  3. FrancisBenjamin

wow… this vid really shows how differently nascars handle from the regular class cars…

cant wait to drive all those cars…

  4. Super_Colossal

Who else is having problems watching the video? like I can’t even bring it up.

    PS- I’m 6’0″ and 125 lbs, and a proud American :)

    1. Omamder5

Same here. It doesn’t matter if I click on the video image or on the link to the website, neither of them load.

    2. caasimun

wat does being american have to do with any of this? and i think jordan is being harassed by sony coz of someone question in a certain interview!

    3. Super_Colossal

      @ caasimun
Sorry, that was kind of a reply to that whole thing going on earlier. Not really related haha.

      @ Omander5
That’s exactly what happens to me. Some thing comes up saying too many connections?…

  5. derStig

    @jessedeya

If accuracy is your concern, then you would not quote ‘obesity’ rates based off of a phony BMI theory developed by an 18th century mathematician that quantifies Brad Pitt as overweight and George Clooney as ‘obese’…at 6’4, 225lbs and 7% body fat, I too represent those ‘obese’ Americans lmfao

  6. KingZerxst

Just curious, why don’t the names of the drivers corespond to their car. Why do they have the generic names instead of the true names? Could this be fixed?

    1. carcoll13

KingZerxst, I believe it has something to do with possible driver “personalities” or at least to be able to refer to your competition by name instead of “COM3” for example.
The A.I are only using the car that for ex: Jeff Gordon drives, just like you are when you select Dale Jr.’s car.

Perhaps in the full game this will be different?
Doubt it, but only time will tell.. and thanks Jordan for bringing all of this great news to us! =D

    1. Justin

considering how long it’s been since we have had a decent NASCAR game, I thing most of us are excited even though it will only be a couple tracks and 16 cars.

  7. Juan

Can we get this video on youtube? gamersyde sucks.. always Buffering.. yet I have no problem at all playing videos on youtube..

    1. Jordan

No, Gamersyde asked me to link directly to their videos and I’m respecting their wishes. You can download the original video file from them if you want.

  8. Mr Latte

Is anyone else thinking of choosing a Ferrari F355 and load up some cheesy 80s Rock music.

Damn just for the nostalgia I can see me wanting to do this on fond memories of past Dreamcast days…

    1. ElieTheBear

me i usually never drive with music .. its easier driving with the sound of the car and more easy too focus … but since i saw the STIG driving with some pink floyd and learning languages lol im gonna drive like the stig

    2. Bernd

What is “cheesy 80’s rock music” ? We already had Judas Priest’s Freewheel Burning and Panama from Van Halen in GT4, and I liked them very much. But like Elie below, I prefer driving with no music or only very low

  9. canadon11

Is it known whether the final game would include all the major NASCAR drivers/cars available? For example, from all the NASCAR screenshots and videos I was able to identify only 8 of them (##24, 48, 42, 99, 18, 88, 83, 14). Do you know if any other drivers/cars will be available? Thanks.

    1. Justin

It’s in though, so you might as well try to enjoy it. Go kart racing sounds rather dull to me, but I will still give it a fair go and than some as I want to get everything out of the game I can.

  10. cohetedor

Looks great except for one thing, what’s with the trees casting checkerboard shadows on the dash? I noticed it with the E3 demo as well and it looks horrible, hope they fix it

    1. Bernd

Yeah, I noticed that too. Guess, we’ll have to live with it.
But it’s only a minor detail that doesn’t spoil the gaming-experience

  11. AGNT009

This is the best part of this game, taking NASCAR stock cars on road courses where they should be at more. Us stock car drivers CAN turn left and right, and now we have GT5 to prove it, lol. Im going to be hosting a fun NASCAR league. Practice races will start around January, with a season schedule to line up with the start of the Daytona 500. 3 different classes that will be based on length of season and length of race. A “Nationwide” series featuring a mix of the stock Pony cars (Mustang, Camero, Challenger, etc) for the start of the season, and the COTs at the end of the season. Im based out of the IGN GT board. I’ll likely host my league out of Yahoo groups, as Im a poor boy, lol.

    1. Chadwicksracing

      AGNT009,

Could it be possible to have a conversation about your league endeavors?

Myself, and a few others have a large scale Nascar series planned.

I am on the forums here Chadwicksracing

“nobody can touch our game” …. i sure hope forza copyrited that phrase… because its about to be used!!!!

    1. Mr Latte

Yeah kinda amusing T10s marketing strategy.
I preferred these past comments of Greenwoods…

“We learned things about aero that mean you get a multimillion dollar simulator for $60.”

“Compared to GT our physics are better, our graphics are now as good, we have more cars, we have damage, rollover, and user generated content. No racing game can beat it.”

Well Dan if your reading enjoy the sales figures of GT5 and dream on that T10 are even close to matching PD. Its clear what game seems to be next gen worthy and although indeed weve had to wait this game will go down as a landmark title.

      Err wont it?

  13. azeeza

I can t create a thread in the forum, then i post here. GT5 will feature the a revival of the Racing Modify menu ( already been in GT2 ) confirmed by K-Y in the interview ( Famitsu )…He talked about A and B-spec too

  14. smoke1485

Thank you torque for saying what I’ve been sayin….f1 races are won one the first lap in the first turn, nascar is won in the last few laps

  15. carl.vain

PLEASE READ THIS! And share this information with every fan of Gt. Well brothers and sisters everybody knows that Kazunori is a master of creation simulation and we love his work. But there is one missing thing that gt5 do not have and makes me cry.Kazunori forget to put a one beautiful camera that Forza3 have. Everybody love the grafics in gt5 but WHERE! is this camera that you could enjoy the beautiful grafics from outside the car.I meen that you could pull the triger during a race and look around every side and see whole boody of a car.Inside in the cocpit viev is perfect you can around camera on left end right .

    1. Gejost

True. And where is the hood view? I really don’t understand why they don’t include this. The roof view is to high on most of the cars, feels akward to drive like that.

  16. Torque

    @UCLA’09
What’s up with the America bashing? NASCAR drivers aren’t overweight, search Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Juan Pablo Montoya, etc. This stereotyping and NASCAR hatred is getting annoying. I agree, NASCAR is not as fun to watch as F1, but if it’s so easy why aren’t you doing it. This site seems to be getting filled more and more with people making rash generalizations about something they know nothing about.

On topic, seems Gamersyde isn’t iPhone friendly. :(

    1. Gejost

Let them… I find Nascar much more exciting to watch than F1, and no, I’m not American, I’m European. Nascar rules!

    2. UCLA'09

Sorry if I made it seem like Americans are overweight. I’m American and I know that we are not. My complaint is that sometime in the past, some bloke decided to make Nascar all left turns only. And I strongly believe that this decision was made because it’s easier to turn left (due to the inside-grip advantage). I’m mad because this caused Americans to not appreciate well engineered and internationally competitive cars. And this is why American car company’s do not build good cars, because Americans do not demand them.

And about the weight thingy, yes those racers are not overweight but there is an optimal weight to be competitive. Notice how Danica Patrick is not doing well in Nascar? She’s too light.

    3. Strikey182

I’ma be blunt with you. Its called a “joke”, learn to take one. Hmm maybe thats a bit harsh as you weren’t properly whinging but still :)
Americans need to remember the phrase “Take what you do seriously, not yourself.” Their TV shows will mock other countries, us English being a usual target but we take it in good humour. As soon as a joke is made about America though, there is usually some kind of uproar… Just read the comments on any TopGear clip on youtube where they mock something American, you will see what i mean. :)

    4. JesseDeya

      @UCLA’09

“Sorry if I made it seem like Americans are overweight. I’m American and I know that we are not. ”

Umm, newsflash, yes you are. America has the highest percentage of obese people in the world (a staggering 33%). Not that this has anything to do with GT5, but it’s worth pointing out for the sake of accuracy.

And before anyone asks, I’m Australian, not overweight (although we’re fighting with Cananda for the title of 2nd fattest nation) and I’m dating an American who thankfully falls in to ~15% of American women in the healthy weight range.

      Here endeth the lesson.

    5. Super_Colossal

      @ JesseDeya

I like how “33%” also means 100% to you. Just to let you know, that actually means you have better chances of finding an American who’s NOT overweight.

Only someone like you would tell someone that they’re fat just off a stereotype. No respect.

    6. Bernd

@UCLA09 – I think, your argument about Danica not doing well because of being to light doesn’t hold water. I just googled for it, and the article says, her weight gives her an advantage of about 0.5 secs per lap. That’s the reason why she almost won Indy500 in 2005, despite spinning out and stalling the engine during a pit-stop.

    7. UCLA'09

@JesseDeya I live in California and in a city where there are very few overweight people. Honestly, I don’t know how it is across the nation.

@Strikey182 You are absolutely right. I am practicing my criticism of auto manufacturers, cars, and people, because I want to start a car show like TopGear, but use GT5 to review the cars and post the videos on youtube. I’m thinking of episodes like this: The real nascar, real Toyota Camry vs real Chevy monte carlo vs real Ford Fusion at the oval.

  17. Carbonfiber

I hope the novelty of having any car on any track doesn’t wear off too quickly. We’ve had these sorts of races for years in rFactor, but they are too rare online now.

I think having the massive library of GT5 vehicles in an uncompetitive track day is far more special.
That way you can have the Karts, NASCAR, supercars, etc. all on the same piece of tarmac, great for photos!

    1. Rotard12a

      Features for GT6:

Rag doll driver physics with dismember-able bodies for the likely event that a 2-ton stock car runs over a 200lb go-kart. This will greatly enhance the car wash feature, as you’ll need somewhere to go to get the blood off of your bumper! That’s right, Gran Turismo just went from rated E to rated M.

  18. UCLA'09

Nascar can only turn left because the heavy driver is on the left side of the car, producing a inside grip advantage. If nascar was to occur in Japan, those cars will only turn right. Then again, Asians are not heavy enough to produce a inside-grip benefit.

    1. SigmaViper11

something seems fundamentally wrong with that theory. If thats the case only F1 cars and center piloted vehicles like the McLaren would be able to turn in any given direction. Series like Le Mans, DTM, Super GT and ASTC would simply run ovals in their respective direction.

    2. UCLA'09

Sorry, what I meant to say is, Nascar only WANTS to turn left because it is easier, especially at high speeds. Anyways, have you ever wonder why the majority of Japanese and European tracks run clockwise (more right turns) rather than counterclockwise? (Nascar tracks run counterclockwise.) For example, the high speed turn at Tsukuba is a right hand turn (played that track like a million times on GT4).

    3. superb16

I hope you really didn’t give this topic any real thought, because you’re so wrong, UCLA’09. In the early days of racing (when there were no paved road courses), drivers used horse racing tracks which just happened to be counter-clockwise ovals. The tradition remains today.

    1. Rotard12a

Deep in the wilderness of North America, if you are quiet, cautious, and patient enough, you can witness the bi-annual migration of the wild NASCAR to road courses called “Watkins Glen” and “Infineon Raceway”. It is truly a fascinating sight, the elephantine 3,600lb chassis stampeding through the hills, even changing gears from time to time…

    2. luke

I saw a couple of road coarse races and they didn’t actually look that heavy. They have bad braking distance though

  19. SigmaViper11

    A. Does the AI have names or is this a LAN race?
    B. If it is AI then did it intentionally spin dude out or was he braking and just got plowed?
    C. Am I the only one who thinks Nascar would be much better if they ran more road course, possibly even at international level?

    1. Owen

A: The AI have names now. (Possibly personalities I don’t know)
B: The human braked to much and the AI had nowhere to go.
C: I road courses are good, but not suited to nascar, and nascar doesn’t have too much international appeal.

    2. SigmaViper11

Sweet. Personalities would make things interesting as would emotion. It’d be a wise idea to put it in. I think.
