With just under a month until the early access for Need for Speed Unbound begins, EA has revealed the details of the special “Palace Edition” of the game which includes early access benefits.
The name comes from a partnership between development studio Criterion Games and skate and streetwear brand Palace Skateboards. That means the special edition is heavy on the styling items, both for vehicles and for the player character.
There’s a clothing pack consisting of 20 items to drape on your in-game avatar. You’ll get a pair of Palace x Vans skate slip-ons featuring Palace mascot Jeremy the Duck, three items of headwear, two motorsport-styled jackets — including a Palace AMG driving jacket — and 14 items of clothing that include polos, t-shirts, hoodies, shorts, and joggers.
Once decked out, you can also set your player character to use the exclusive “Tri-Ferg” character pose, mimicking the Penrose Triangle logo used by Palace — which also features on some of the clothing items.
There’s also a Teutonic tetrad of vehicles, in custom Palace liveries — although it’s not clear if they have any additional performance tuning.
Palace Edition buyers will be able to use these special versions of the BMW M3 Evolution II ’88, Mercedes-AMG G63 ’17, Mercedes-AMG GT Black ’20, and Volkswagen Golf GTI ’76.
You’ll be able to create your own custom “Palace Edition” cars too, with a selection of Palace decals and a “Palifornia” license plate. There’s also exclusive Palace driving effects you can apply to your vehicles.
Finally, the Palace Edition also brings that three-day early access benefit, so you’ll be able to play NFS Unbound starting November 29. The special edition is $10 more expensive than the base version, at $79.99 (€89.99/£79.99) and is available to pre-order now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
You can preview the pack in the teaser trailer below. For everyone else, Need for Speed Unbound launches December 2.
