It appears Forza Horizon 3 still has some life left in it – at least, enough for what looks to be a final hurrah.
Last week, True Achievements picked up on four new achievements for the game. Worth a combined 500 Gamerscore, the achievements appeared to hint at the final Forzathon events for the open world racer.
Over the weekend, Turn 10’s Brian Ekberg confirmed the news in the Forza Week in Review. Unlike previous events, which rewarded cars, credits, or XP, the final batch is set to award achievements. Set to go live in four days on February 8, each will be worth 125 Gamerscore points each.
Players can only earn the reward through each event once. Without further ado, the list of events are as follows:
- #Forzathon Cleaning Up The Festival – Complete 1000 Races or Snowman Skills (125 GS)
- #Forzathon See You Horizon Boss – Complete 1500 Races or Kangaroo Skills (125 GS)
- #Forzathon The Final Tour – Complete 2000 Races or “Hot Wheels” Skills (125 GS)
- #Forzathon And Thanks For All The Drifts – Complete 2500 Races or Ultimate Skills (125 GS)
While the tasks at hand appear steep, luckily they’re retroactive. Meaning, any and everything you’ve done in the game up to this point counts toward unlocking the goals.
The more pressing matter is whether this hints at FH3 approaching end-of-life status. The original Forza Horizon rode off into the sunset in October 2016. The Xbox One sequel, Forza Horizon 2 met the same fate in 2018. Going by the pattern, it seems FH3 will run its final miles sometime in 2020.
Only time will tell. For now though, it seems support for the Australia-set title has wrapped, with all of Playground Games’ focus on its current headliner, Forza Horizon 4.
