In light of the recent news of Turn 10 handing out hefty punishments to PC players using Trainer programs to have their way with the game, comes another, albeit harmless exploit allowing players to resize a car’s stock wheel sizes through in-game means.
While the above video may be hard to follow at first glance, the idea is basically this: players are purchasing aftermarket wheels, adjusting the sizes accordingly, and then falling back to the car’s stock wheels. With the wheel sizes already “purchased”, players then go back to that option and override the stock wheels, something otherwise not allowed by the game — all thanks to the shopping basket, one of Horizon 3’s newest features.
Previously unavailable to Motorsport players, the new basket feature allows players to buy upgrade parts all in one fell swoop, as opposed to the previous effort forcing players to purchase parts individually. The goal was to speed the modifying process up and make it more convenient to players: this little work-around certainly covers that second bit!
Despite the steps required, it’s worth acknowledging this isn’t technically new to the franchise: Forza Motorsport 2 allowed players to adjust the stock wheel sizes in-game without having to dance around any nuances. It should also be noted that while stock rims normally can’t have their diameter altered, the width has always scaled based on tire selection.
As ever, you can discuss this and other aspects of the game in GTPlanet’s Horizon 3 forums.
Sad that after all of these years, no game has yet rivaled Midnight Clubs intricate rim and interior customization options. And the last one came out EIGHT YEARS AGO.
“Newest exploit”? Oh boy, I can’t wait until the bodykit mods will be the “latest hack” in a week!!
Let’s put this glitch on the front page and hope it doesn’t get noticed.
Yes because the ton of Youtube videos aren’t already doing that.
This glitch must be for PC players only because I tried it with the Xbox One and it did nothing. It still ask me to buy a custom rims in order to enlarge the size. Or maybe I am not doing it right.
It only seems to work on certain cars, I was able to do it with my Ferrari 166MM but not the ’53 Corvette.
I’m on XB1 as well.
The last car game i remember resizing stock wheels was midnight club LA and 9 times out of 10 bigger stockies looked the best. They better not mess with this work around. Leave it alone.
