Nissan Europe Confirms GT Academy Drivers for 2012

Nissan Europe has today issued a press release detailing the campaigns their three GT Academy graduates will be driving in the 2012 season.

While last year we reported on a statement from Signatech Nissan’s team boss that Jordan Tresson would be joining Lucas Ordoñez at the team, Nissan’s announcement today says that Lucas has joined Greaves Motorsport. He will run an LMP2 campaign in the European Le Mans Series in their Zytek Nissan alongside Tom Kimber-Smith (who will be defending this title) and Alex Brundle. Lucas will also be driving the Le Mans 24 Hours for the team alongside Alex and his father Martin Brundle.

Jordan will indeed be driving for the Signatech team in 2012 in the FIA World Endurance Championship and will also have a seat in the Le Mans 24 Hours. The newest European GT Academy graduate Jann Mardenborough will be again driving for RJN Motorsport in a season of the Blancpain Endurance Series, driving the new Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3. There is no news yet on the 2012 schedule for GT Academy USA graduate Bryan Heitkotter. The full Nissan press release may be read here.

GTPlanet wishes all the GT Academy drivers and teams the best of luck and all of their opponents a safe 2012.

Thanks to rblanshard for the tip!

Wish I could have won but I don’t have a PSN so I can’t compete to get in the GT academy but best of luck to those three

With all the news I hear concerning Nissan and motorsports lately in the US (Spec 350Z in NASA for example), here’s hoping Bryan lands somewhere great!

I’m just glad Germany gets there own event separate from Europe’s because most of the finalist would be German anyway

    1. SilverArrow

Have you ever seen any GT Accademy? Each country gets two representatives and there haven’t even been any German winners yet.

I wish north america would be more focused on sports car racing in general. Then we would be pulling sponsors here and profiting. Nascar is great and im a big fan but id like to see both. Did see coverage of 24 of daytona and it was awesome!

I hope we can see Brian racing here on the US, but what racing programs do Nissan have here on the US? Are those orange GT-Rs still running in World Challenge GT?

this is a release from Nissan EUROPE for their drivers in EUROPE

wait til Nissan USA release one for bryan, since he’ll more than likely race in US, since he is the gt academy US winner

I know right? Who knows, they could be finding him someone in the ALMS series or a private team in LeMans. We have to see what GT Academy has in store for him. It would be great to have him push more form Nissan USA to have more GT Academy events in the United States for everyone here, that will be epic. :D

This press release comes from Nissan Europe only concerns the GT Academy Europe graduates. Bryan, one assumes, will have the early stages of his career managed by Nissan North America. It’s not that he’s not doing anything, we simply haven’t heard what he’s doing yet – and we’ll bring you the Bryan News when we get it.

Nothing for Brian Heitkotter? That’s not good at all, in fact that’s BS. He was a very good racer in all of the endurances he performed in and I hope he gets put on an astounding race team.

It’s a good time to be a GT fan. The GT Academy is entering a new season. That means new things for hopefully us all. All you younger gamers should be able to get out on you local kart track and practice what you have learned. Remember to be safe…

    1. VspecZR1GT2RS89

I’m with you. I’d like to see him in one of the best teams racing in LeMans. Go Bryan and GT Academy USA!

  9. marktyper

This is awesome! Will there be any Canadian GT Academy??? Hmmm :s Well I support GT Academy even though I’m in Canada cause I’m a hardcore GTfan but I think it is better if the car they will use is European :)

    1. R1600Turbo

GT Academy is a collaboration between Nissan and Sony. Not going to be using anything other than Nissan’s…

  11. GT5_X2010

It is nice to see gamers taking on the might of the worlds pro’s. Maybe karting could be scrapped for a cheaprer racing entry in the future?

In other news, for once I got first comment on something!!!
