Things are pretty quiet as we wait for E3. Thankfully, to keep things interesting, our old friend mimaximax is back in action and has delivered a fresh video clip. This time, though, instead of his notoriously funky tunes, we actually get to hear the in-game sounds. According to the description, the video was recorded “from a 1080p Bravia screen (KDL-40X2000), in 1080i using a tripod, a Canon Legria HF200 and a Zoom H2 recorder”. Enjoy!

Yes, I corrected myself in the next post.
Sorry danielwhite74, but this video is pro mode (information of several magazines) with most aids turned off. And there are a lot of videos out there showing the pro mode.
FusionSays: May 12th, 2010 at 12:00 pm “Sounds bugger all different than gt4, still pretty average, and the cars dont look like they are actually on the track. They float. When it comes out all the cars will still sound the same, the tracks will be the same, and no one plays a game in replay BWX”
So what? What does that have to do with better sounds? As far as the graphics of the driver during a replay- what, you want it to look fake? It wouldn’t take a whole lot to give the driver a LITTLE more realistic movement, especially since they obviously spent so much time on the cockpit and driver in the replay. I always love to hear arguments AGAINST improvements.. LOL, funny stuff.
Haaaa I love how casually the driver takes the corner at 0:22 XD
Edit: sorry, my bad. This video does show Pro physics.
Big Ron, no videos of Pro handling mode have been released. In my opinion, though, Pro mode should be the default setting. Come on, PD, blow the competition away once again!
another step up to sound improvement but i wish on releasing gt5 we need to feel the sound impact after adding aftermarket exhaust sytem on stock cars ..i need to feel 500hp engine rumbling on the race track ..
@BerlinoBear – I see, what you meant. Same, if you’re in 16th place in a three lap online-race, you have to struggle to come forward
uhm, sound still not good, very far from reality, the rest of the game its just amazing, but sounds and spliting flames in race cars are needed.
If many cars making tyre smoke simultaneously effects the frame-rate then what are we gonna do about online drifting?!?!?!?!
nascar gameplay please.
@azzaj
Ahh, I remember that turn-based multiplayer. I was playing Microprose’s F1GP on Amiga 500+ with my brother and couple of friends.
That turn-based option could be great in 24h races in GT5.
No appearance of oversteering while hard braking or accelerating. Seems to be too easy to control the cars, even in pro mode. Too bad.
+1 for glowing brakes and backfires.
It was in a previous GT title so non-carry over of those effects does not make sense?
Still no backfire or glowing brake …
Sounds bugger all different than gt4, still pretty average, and the cars dont look like they are actually on the track. They float. When it comes out all the cars will still sound the same, the tracks will be the same, and no one plays a game in replay BWX
@Bernd its lame because it spaces all the cars out for ages, so reduces the pack racing feel. 24h LeMan is an enduance race, not a sprint. A rolling start like NASCAR or Karting would be fine. But not all 16 cars covering 700m of the track. That is Lame.
@BerlinoBear – How is that lame ? Even the famous 24h LeMans are starting like that, not exactly in a line but it’s a rolling start. Btw: 12./13. June on Eurosports !
@ Richard Kimble
LOL LOL LOL!!!
come on PD give us more details about tracks, cars, tuning, online options – something we can dream about… I HATE TO SEE THE DAMN TOKYO TRACK ONCE AGAIN!!!
Cool, there’s going to be a Tokyo track!
Grid starts would have all cars simultaneously smoking tires – all that smoke could effect the frame-rate, I’m guessing that’s why there are rolling starts.
Looks great though, can’t wait to get the game and finally open my Logitech GT wheel (which is now 2 years out of warranty)
!
Please no starts like this in the full game. SO LAME.
Looks fantastic. Always nice to get atleast some media.
Gran Tokio 5 q:D<-<
Faith in wait.
Hi Jordan can u let mimaximax know that the quality is perfect but can u ask him to send us a vid with a “normal” car like the Toyota FT-86 concept? Thanks I think all of us would really appreciate it…I know I would!! once again thank-you Jordan!
Aargh, this Tokyo milkcow is more dry than Atacama Desert.
When I was a kid my younger brother used to give me presents.
Almost everyday I received one and I was grateful for it.
That it were my own toys that he rewrapped, well….
That’s about the feeling that I get with this kind of news.
I appreciate the effort and good intentions but for me it’s starting
to irritate a little.
Come on PD, blow us away!
For those who do follow the Super GT racing in Japan, can tell that the sounds are not very realistic.
It sounds good, but not accurate. Search for GT500 Super GT videos featuring the Nissan GTR. The real car doesnt sound as deep, a lot more screaming judd-like. And a lot louder, higher pitched.
But this is still better than anything we’ve had before
Awesome, loves that trailer, definitive improvement on sound there.
sounds are definitely a bit more. They sound as angry as race cars should (compared to GT4 where the sounds defintely lacked omph, and bascially all became very similar once the car was tuned)
Do You know of any camcorder beeing able to record 1080p? I don’t. Maybe there’s some semipro that’ll do.
If it’s a 1080p screen why is it recorded in 1080i?
Looking/sounding good tho! :D
Wow, sounds fantastic can’t wait to play this on my stereo system, but I AM SICK AND TIRED OF TOKYO ROUTE I SWEAR when I get this game I WILL NEVER PLAY THAT TRACK.PERIOD.
Oh I forgot- the driver DOES need to bounce around in the cockpit a LOT more though! I hope PD can make that happen sometime- just look at a real onboard vid of a driver in any stiffly sprung race car.. They get hammered around pretty good. It would add TONS of realism in the replays. That and a few more car sounds layered on like exhaust pops, more gear whine, some brake squeel, etc… as people always are asking for. Little things sometimes add alot.
Ah – it’s coming closer ! Best, I’ve ever seen, regarding graphics/sound. Makes it even harder to wait. Oh, I think, some books fell off the shelf, hahaha :-)
Thanks for the video~
Sounds pretty good!! Looks pretty good! Tastes pretty….. Ooops..
Still missing that Gear Whine… c’mon PD!!!
tokyo again ……………… ¿deja vu?
Anyone remember F1GP’s multiplayer? basically you switch to a computer player and it drives the next stint while the next human player drove for real, it actually worked quite well we had turn based multiplayer in a realtime driving game. Not that hard i think even forza 1 had the avatar system.
I look forward to hearing a vtec too, i totally wish that v10 nsx prototype makes a showing just for the sound alone……..
Sounds great! I can only imagine this game on my surround sound :D
Ralph89: thats a Great idea, that would make me play the 24 hours races Alot more and on its hardest setting! i hope someone @ pd has thought of that too!
GT5 looks just incredible!!!
That gear shifting looks awesome xD
I will bet my money that GT5’s 24 hour Le Mans will never be as easy as GT4 did. In pro setting of course. I hope the pit stop save game will be in!!! That’s one of the thing that will keep me playing 24 hour Le man in A spec in the entire 24 hours.
the king is back
Horrible! Still sounds like vacuum cleaners.
so high expectations on this game. 10/10 for sure.
sounds great especially when the car is just about to pass and you hear only engine(no exhaust) …. it spine tinglingly great!!!! cant wait to play !
@ Jerry: I’m still playing GT4. Started a new save. After watching the GT5 clips, GT4 feels empty and lonely (24hs races with 6 cars on track, looks like time trial).
Stunning!
Yes, thanks mimaximax, for setting up a far better recording rig than before!
On first appearances i actually thought it was some fancy direct feed recording!
Sounds are definitely better, although as others have said, a bit more exhaust rasp and popping would finish it off nicely (hopefully it’s that notorious last 10% we all hear so much about! )
:-)
I’ve had the following set as my status/comment on my PSN account since the beginning of the year.
“GT5 = pipe dream”
Gawd, I wish somebody would prove me wrong…
Stunning video to look at and the sounds are incredible.
I agree. Sounds are better.
Still waiting to hear a V-tec…sounds have definitely improved though!
Look!! A new track we haven’t seen yet! ……………… for weeks, i was starting to miss it.
Thanks MiMaximax.
I think all the other tracks are ready but it has been a secret, order from Kaz to NOT leak them out… Can’t wait to see ElCapitan again!
In before Tokyo tra… I’m too late!
Sounds are getting better. I’ve been playing Toca3. It has great sound 4 a 2005 game.(running outa racing games to kill time-cmon PD-sh*t I’m re-playing TOCA3 ???)
Sounds pretty good, glad hes back with these videos
OH NO!! even more Tokyo/GTR…
Hmmm it hurts seeing these replays!!!
After watching it again, I have a good feeling that E3 will something us persevering GT fans will not forget.
True Believers!! We are almost there!!
Actually sounds pretty good, although a little more grumbling wouldn’t hurt.
Engine/exhaust noise from both exterior and interior views sound great.
Very good drive =D
sounds great! graphics great! release date…?
Sound has definitely improved. I know that because i started playing GT4 yesterday :)
sounds just right I think?
