When the Nurburgring Nordschleife was first revealed in Gran Turismo 4, it was hard to complain about the missing GP circuit. However, you’re lying to yourself if you haven’t wished to drive through those tire barriers separating the Nordschleife from the rest of the track, and everyone has been anxiously hoping for it to appear in Gran Turismo 5.
Thanks to GTPlanet user tlongman, we may have just found the answer to that question in one of the most unlikely of places: the latest trailer for Gran Turismo PSP! In the first scene, a Nissan GT-R Spec V and Corvette ZR-1 pull out of a pit garage and are then seen racing on the Nordschleife. The problem, of course, is that the Nordschleife by itself has no such garage area – that’s only found on the GP circuit. Sure enough, further detective work reveals the grand stands across from the pits are virtually identical to those found at the real track. (Note: The grand stand area along the pit straight of the GP circuit has been undergoing heavy construction for the past two years, and does not look the same today. You must look for pre-construction photos to see the same stands found in the video.)
This is very exciting, of course, but it doesn’t completely add up. This was supposed to be a video for GT PSP – could Polyphony Digital possibly have crammed the entire
Nordschleife into the portable system’s RAM in addition to the GP circuit? According to the GT PSP demo shown at E3 last month, they did not, as only a map of the Nordschleife can be seen in the game’s track selection menu. Regardless, this is still very promising news for Gran Turismo 5. Thanks to Polyphony Digital for sneaking this in!

If you want unique names, get them to turn off what is effectively anonymous posting, or put in checks so that registered names cannot be used. As things stand, STEPHEN M and S_M_91 are my two most used aliases when I go onto forums. Don’t like it? Change your name.
sorry
use your own name
Who give’s a rats?
what about S_M_91?
Yeah, looks like it’s the other “STEPHEN M”, as the other post comes from his same IP address.
@ bakemono858
who is? im a genuine GT fan! some idiot has decide to use my name! i previously used ‘STEPHEN M’ and someone decided to use that. i come back on here to see more comments to find that someone is now using ‘S_M_91’ which is just pathetic!
Someone is obviously a loser xbox fan
why is someone using my name on the previous comment to this one! get ur own, twice this has happene to me! please check it out jordan please
This game defies physics…sucks and blows at the same time.
@Jordan, in your first reply to my comment, why are you posting in reference to a track in GT5 when this particular article is about the PSP version, which is not called GT5.
Also @Jordon, you are wrong about not being able to contact Kaz at PD. I wrote to them two years ago asking if they could include the Top Gear test track in the game, and I got a reply thanking me for the interest and that my comments had been passed onto the team. So, whatever…go snicker…
@Alan
I think thats a question on everyones mind! well how ‘soon’ can the release date be because its been ages since we had some news on KY saying that.
@jack
yeah, i aint really bothered about the GP circuit-but it would be awesome anyway with the graphics that look promising
“the main 14 mile will be yes-nordschleife”
Great! To be honest I don’t care much for the GP-Strecke
Thats great, when will the release date for GT5 be revealed
the main 14 mile will be yes-nordschleife
So will the 14 mile Nurb be in Gran Turismo PSP?
I can honestly say I have absolutely no desire to break through that tyre barrier to race the GP circuit, nor have I ever felt or entertained such feelings.
Thanks VIPERGTSR01.
We’ll all to wait. I’m sure they’ll use all the information from the GT5 tracks and graphics and program in the bikes like it was with TT.
@ JohnC: Although nothing official has been mentioned about TT2 KY did say in a interview when modelling the bikes they were modelling them with the PS3’s power in mind. Most likely the models used in TT were reduced versions of the originals they modelled. I think TT2 is likely sometime after GT5. As with the original TT2 would obviously be using Gran Turismo’s assets.
No, those are not the questions. As I said in the earlier post, that interview has not been published yet.
Jordan
You mean these questions?
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/07/14/gran-turismo-psp-your-questions-answered/
Thanks Dragonjm.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what’ll happen in the near future
about TT being incoparated in Gt5 in a dutch games magazine it reds there are motorcycles in GT psp i think its odd they mention it and i don’t expect bikes in gt5 but who knows?? (kaz ofcourse)
What i mis in the gt series is damage and night weather races , advanced tuning , online races , porsche , lamborgini , masarati , buggati etc..
My best tracks in GT
Nordesleife + GP circuit 24.4 km BMW M3 GTR Touring
Pikes peak hill climb 19.9 km Suzuki ecudo monster xl7
circuit de la sarthe 13.6 km Audi r10 Tdi
damage and night weather races tuning….?
@Dom Sonoma (Infineon) is in GT4; 2 versions actually. I can’t see PD dropping a perennial track such as that. They need to bring back old tracks such as Red Rock!
@STEPHEN M
how can you complain about the nurburgring! just stop being impatient ffs.
p.s. i happen to be STEPHEN M aswell, but changed my name.
the more real race tracks, the better. What about Sonoma and Glen, now that we know that Nascar will be included.
Other than that, I have some real race tracks that I want to see: Mosport, Road Atlanta, Spa of course, Imola, Barcelona, Hungaroring, Silverstone, Monza and maybe even more exotic tracks like Oulton Park or the famous Salzburgring. Singapore Night Race would great as well, but that will remain a dream like most of the others I mentioned. :)
Thanks. But a few years ago PD said they might blend TT into GT5. Did they ever say why they did not go with that plan?
Oh, no, I have not heard anything about it, unfortunately.
Thanks. Have PD said or has anyone asked anything about a TT 2 game?
Maybe they might start work on it after GT5.
Has anyone even said anything?
Sure, though I probably won’t be able to answer it! :)
Thanks very much Jordan. Can I ask you any question about PD? Because I have a question that doesn’t have anything to do with GT5 or GTmobile, just a question about PD.
They can, but only if the interviewer asks for help, of course. I was contacted by someone doing just that a few weeks ago, and invited everyone to share their questions in our forums. The interview has not been published yet, though. I’ll be the first to let you know once that happens.
Thanks Jordan, but are the public able to ask magazines and games interviewers questions and they themselves can ask PD or Yamauchi when they have an interveiw?
JohnC, no, unfortunately there is no way for the public to contact them. They do, however, read GTPlanet and our forums.
Cheers Jordan.
Another question for you Jordan. Is there anyway that the public themselves can ask PD or Yamauchi a question about the game? Since we are the people who’ll buy their games.
I’m finding it good that more news leaks out, I was getting rather enoyed with the fact that there was nothing going on that was worth metioning.
Nevertheless I feel it is time for PD to start husslin’ and release GT5 because I want it soooo bad…
So Kaz, stop the bull and release the sucker
@Torero: Thanks, it’s fixed now.
@JohnC: Nobody has asked them about that, though Yamauchi has reiterated that statement in several different interviews now. See my posts tagged with his name to see them.
@STEPHEN M: You’re on GTPlanet, complaining about coverage of the next game in the GT series and what will probably be one of the most popular circuits in Gran Turismo 5. Am I reading that right?
Getting really boring now all this stuff around the PSP game and Nurb…get over it already.
Thanks Jordan. I have a question for you Jordan. Has anyone asked PD if the game is really finised and just adding last minute details or are they just stalling to build up the hype of the game to get maximum attention?
To the left of the last picture.
“…Nordschleife into the protable system’s RAM in…”
You changed the places of th ‘o’ and the ‘r’.
Nurburgring GP circuit should be great. I loved it in GT Legends
JohnC, there is nothing to confirm a December ’09 release date.
I think that it would be a great addition to the game by having the gp version as well but I remember on GT5 Prologue that you can drive a track like suzuka normally or drive a smaller version of the track, that to me is a great possibility
@ caribbean topdriver
Is that the true release date of GT5?
gt5 december 2009…………….. that sums it up for me.
