Codemasters took to its blog today for the next big announcement on its newest title, Onrush. The arcade racer now has a release date: June 5, 2018.
It’s the first substantial bit of news we’ve had about Onrush since its surprise announcement back in October. The project comes to gamers courtesy of former Evolution Studios employees (the company behind Driveclub).
That June release date puts it smack dab before the biggest gaming show of the year: E3. PlayStation 4 players will have the chance to take Onrush for a spin before that though. Those that pre-order will receive access to a beta during the month of May.
Speaking of pre-orders, Codies has detailed what’s in store for PS4 players. The Deluxe Edition includes an additional vehicle (the Vortex buggy), 17 special liveries (eight of which are console exclusive), two Track Tombstones, and one Deluxe Crashtag. No, we don’t know what those latter two things are either. Given the game has a little over four months before release, we imagine Codemasters will explain them in the future.
Both PS4 flavors of Onrush are now available on the PlayStation Store. Xbox players, sit tight: Codies confirms in the blog that there will be details of a similar exclusive version of Onrush for Microsoft’s system shortly.
The blog post also details the game’s photo mode. According to Codemasters, the camera will be a full 360-degree experience, befitting an open-world game like Onrush. Players will be able to adjust the shutter speed, zoom, and focal distance, as well as apply filters.
If it’s anything like Driveclub’s photo mode — still a source of stunning shots from the GTPlanet community — we should expect a lot of snaps come June. For now, check out the small sampling down below:
