Looks a lot smoother with better draw distance than previous footage and game play. Good to see they are working on making it work

  2. gtrx251

PD what happened with the shadows inside the car??? Horrible, horrible shadows!!! Look worse than GT5 :(((((

    1. MeanElf

Hmm…let me see – this is a video captured from an unspecified device at an event with differeing light levels. Maybe waiting for a replay capture or direct from game download to really see what the shadows are like.

  3. Coenraad

Is GT6 going back to 6 cars per race instead of 12? That would be a real bummer. And i hope they will give GT6 allot better sound then the previous titles. As much as i love the GT series. The sound was never great

    1. BeastAgent98

No it’s still 12 to 16 racers a race. This is just a demo… And about the sounds..they’ve been saying improved sounds forever

    1. Felix

It does seem to look more of a mild evolution on GT5, I guess the focus is on the actual steady frame rates and the physics engine of the game.

I, like many other who love the GT series, hope the sound of the car is much better in the final build we get on the 6th Dec, than what is currently on the demo many of us downloaded last month.

Either way, I know I will be buying the game for sure!

    2. TommySput

Personally, on the current system, I don’t believe the game couldn’t look much better. There have been a few graphical tweaks but I agree with Felix. Their focus is probably more on the games physics, frame rate, a re-working of GT mode and hopefully, the sound. Already hugely excited for GT6!!

    3. Quakebass

And you HONESTLY didn’t expect that…? It’s SUPER limited on PS3. All PD can really do is make code as efficient as possible to squeeze a LITTLE more into the game. The graphical quality is already excellent, the physics improvements are what I’m more interested in. Graphically simply need to upgrade “standard” content to premium.

    1. karelpipa

Grid, qualification, pit stops, fuel, tyre usage…theres many more thing they can easily and cheaply add to have some fresh air.

  4. TommySput

Can’t help but feel that the road surface on a track like this is too perfect. Would be nice to see a more “worn” looking road with cracks etc Would also love to see more variants in courses like a cobbled street section for exmple. Just my opinion though! Cannot wait for GT6

    1. TommySput

Didn’t know it was “JUST PAVED” sorry! I wasn’t just referring to this course alone and that it would be nice to see a wider veriaty of road types in general.

  5. Cherokee

Just noticed the clock under the position indicator. Has anyone noticed if it moves? I mean if it counts upwards? I would look for myself, but can’t check the video at the moment.

    1. Swagger897

Unfortunately no, it doesnt move in this video… It is one of those features where if you cant tell from the total time then… we are supplying it to the youngins

    2. fordskydog

You know what would be great? If a premium car has a clock on the dash, if it would show the real world time. Sometimes I loose track of time and play past my bedtime. Sometimes a good deal of time can pass between chances to check the clock in the lobby.

  6. MisiekFoxx

Hmm, looking forward to the game. However the AI seems still the same. I hop they finally include an AI difficulty option (preferably a slider like rFactor has 75 – 125%)

    1. fordskydog

That’s funny, I thought the AI seemed more realistic. However, it does seem like they are sandbagging, which often seems the case in A-spec mode. Especially the lower level races. I think the AI should match it’s skill level to you, with maybe a dial to make it slightly worse or slightly better than you are. Y’know, so you can practice setting people up on a given turn on a given track or whatnot.

  7. 05XR8

Next time someone plays a demo, can. They stay with the pack instead of having to be out front? We know the AI will be beaten at this stage. Just please concentrate on driving without hitting anything.

    1. oneloops

That’s a thing that PD have to change IMO, add more sense of speed.

I think you’ve that for the steering movements of the racer (someone who doesn’t use to drive with FFB steering wheels) but not for the graphics sense of speed itself.

    1. ScotteDawg

There are possibly 3 layouts to this track. At 1:15 and 1:20 there are two points where the track is blocked off from other parts. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions as to whether or not they might lead to longer sections…

  8. racingchamp30

Great video and with a little over 3 months to go before release, i am sure PD will flesh out any bugs with the game before release.

    1. blackjack

“Quantum Leap” nope, still aint seeing it yet. Maybe it’s something we can only “feel” when actually playing it? If someone told me that this was DLC for GT5 there is a good chance I would believe them. Stop daydreaming about the GT Movie Kaz and get the game as good as it can be.

    2. HarVee

“Stop occupying yourself with the GT movie, Kaz!” is going to become the new “PDI is lazy” isn’t it?

    1. Pit Crew

We did get a Demo. Im not getting the antipathy to the GTAcademy/GT6 Demo PD put out. It had the new Physics engine, Suspension model, tire model, Silverstone, an example of the more efficient UI, and the GT-R GT3 Race car.

The clubman & sunday cup events=GT6, TTs = GTAcademy Qualifying.

What we got is Par for the course when it’s just a “Demo”.

    1. fordskydog

Especially to help freeze fast action and highlight foreground objects. The faster the shutter speed, the more light you need.

  9. Mubble

Looks fun. I do wish the grass in GT was the color of real grass and not that over saturated glow in the dark green.

    1. SZRT Ice

All shadows in existence are horrible. (Unless you’re in a desert… Then shadows become awesome). Or a ninja. Ninjas love shadows. And shadow puppet masters….

      Silhouette.

  10. z71L28

Track is awesome!, high speed sweeping corners, lots of elavation changes, tight corners. Nice make belive track PD good work ;).

    1. sennarose88

@TheGTGuy no, it’s how the shadow in GT6 rendered. It’s PD’s dirty way to fix the jaggy shadow mess in GT5.

    2. Lacix

They’ve changed one problem (jaggy shadows) to an other (blurred flickering shadows). The old one looked more real and added a 3D feel to the cockpit.

  11. mobiletone

my missus can drive better than whoever was in this video, full driving line, map on etc etc and they still crash!? pffft

    1. HuskyGT

I don’t see why they shouldn’t work. Even some standard cars that use the same active aero parts do work in the game. Maybe they weren’t visible in the video.

    1. popup

Poor Gamersyde :(. Gamersyde is pretty much the only gaming site to offer 60FPS video from a tripod at events. Even the direct feed stuff on other sites including the official trailers are all only 30FPS. I think the chap at least deserves credit for his work by visiting his site. The fact that the video is 60FPS also demonstrates that PD has some work to do on the framerate still.

    2. mistamontiel

      Type your ass off.

Gran Turismo is THE ONLY modern (= reality) gaming I WILL tolerate. Video framerate blablabla 60FPS is no news bub

      Scram with that COD bulls*t

  12. GT5 Level 41

I was thinking “man this track would be better if it was run reverse”. I hope that’s an option.

    1. SavageEvil

All fantasy are capable of running in reverse, that’s a normal thing in pretty much any game that has fantasy courses.

  13. MLRSparco

I feel as though Shift2 has a better sense of racing, when your in cockpit mode everything seems more intense and engaging unlike GT6 which seems very dull and stationary as if the steering wheel and the car are disconnected,in shift the steering wheel shakes as you gain more speed which makes sense seeing as its harder to keep the car straight at high speeds, you can see the pressure of the air as it pushes the roof down, and of course the AI are definitely more aggressive. This gameplay seriously looks like they’re on a sunday drive, there’s no emotion when there driving it just seems like they’re going through the motions.

    1. Swagger897

Im quite sure as cool as a shaking wheel sounds to add in the game, Im not so sure as how realistic that is. I occasionally get to go to Road Atlanta and I have never once experienced wheel shake, or an unimaginable force thrusting me up and down. Sure peripheral vision is decreased at higher speeds, but really thats just the exterior moving past you at more than 120 fps (thats the max fps your eyes can differentiate with out cutting out) But also, you constantly see everything when you look at it. When you are driving in gt6, (or gt5) everything is in a crisp format because it is designed for the natural peripheral vision to make the correct blurring effect. If the game were to do it, and I wanted to check my speed say in an R8 it would be impossible to see it on the speedo because of how small they make their ticks, due to the blur.

In my mind, NFS has great visuals though, but their physics are way off. Not to say that GT has theirs spot on either, but it isnt always going to be perfect, until some sort of algorithm is created. The game is more of

“relate what you experience in real life to the game” because (and dont call me wrong) the game is labeled a simulator. You take what you experience from reality to the game, and it helps you better at life. Sure this is a console, but that doesnt mean you cant learn things in here that wont transfer to life..

    2. StiggyGT

      @MLRSparco
I think I know what you mean. When I play GT, flying round the sharp corners at autumn ring doesn’t quite feel dangerously fast, due to the not so alerting sense of speed. To feel like I’m doing a more threatening speed, I have to go down the Mulsanne straight at Le Sarthe in an LMP at max. velocity. Even then, I still wish that there was a little blur on either side of the car to simulate the speed a little more realistically.

Nevertheless, the physics are still pleasing, and finding the limit of each car in the corners is quite satisfying. Overall, bring on the full GT6!

    3. MLRSparco

Overall GT is still the best console racing game,I just feel there are things they should include to make it that much better

  14. diegorborges

The AI looks a bit better from the past demos.

The way that the orange Huayra gains the position at the beginning…

Interesting, want to see more! =)

    1. oneloops

That’s because it’s behind a “less powerful” Ferrari 458, i would to see that with the same car.

Anyway, i think AI looks better too, i hope we’ll can choose a hardcore AI level in game.

    2. Logoncal21

@oneloops could be cool to choose either “sunday driver” difficulty or “S. Vettel” difficulty.

    1. sangdude82

It would’ve been better if Brands Hatch & Apricot Hill were available to play at the Gamescom. So we get to see some game plays of those new confirmed cars on those tracks.

  15. GTguy88

Surprised nobody noticed/mentioned…but check out the people standing in the hillside. That looks driven hilarious. They’re standing perfectly straight up not in relation to the ground and the shadows looks like GT5s shaky pixel-y ones. Not to mention that is seems like they “tried” to be creative and make them walk in an oval. Weird to me. Why do that if you’re going to make it look silly.

Other than that the games looks good, just like GT5. Don’t see any of that lean/roll in the physics anymore though.

  16. Tier 2 Racing

Chase the rabbit, can’t wait. Oh but it’s a new track and new car!

And the sector/lap time clock still the same, only tells your under/over time in relation to 1st place.

  17. Boosted_01_R

AI still looks like they are on a sunday drive and not trying…… dissapointing, as the player isn’t that good either……. GT5 6.0 ? yeah, it seems so……

    1. TokoTurismo

STOP caring about only yourself. This demo was in Gamescom, where others may not be as fast as the hardcore. And GT5 6.0? That really was lame…..

    2. Rionmoon

      @ Umbra344

“The GT5.5, GT5 6.0, GT5.??? comments are long past being stale and overused”

      Oh REAAAAAALY???

Sorry, if it still walks like a duck, quacks like a duck it’s still a duck, not a swan no matter how much love and unicorn tears you want to bestow upon it.

I hope I’m wrong. And I am going to but and play this new GT incarnation probably until GT7 comes out BUT from what I’ve seen so far, it’s the GT we should have gotten in 2010.

Therefor gentlemen it IS GT 5.5 unless one of you or the game itself can demonstrate that it a massive step away from GT5 and you can’t

  18. terminator363

Another sterile track by Polyphony, if only they put the effort from the Photo Mode locations into the tracks things might start looking properlly good.

    1. Rionmoon

If they did THAT you would be buying a PS4 to play GT6 on. The PS3 can’t handle multiple premium cars AND an awesome background at the same time.

  19. leeson

They’ve decided to just forgo any sounds for GT6. We’ll have to make our own noises as we play from now on. I could probably do a better engine sound myself anyway.

    1. Lambob

mount your wheel on a stationary exercise bicycle, and put a bunch of playing cards held by wooden clothespins to rub against the spokes of the wheels. Great fun, cycle hard and fast as you drive pedal to the metal along the nur.

    1. karelpipa

I still think, when i look at those hands, that they’re not touching the wheel.
It feels like that the hands are floating just close from the wheel, but not touching it in any way…
      Really destroying the feel.

Also you dont fee that hands “fight” the Gs at speeds excessing 100mph. Just robotic.

And the expectation of up/downshifting really angers me too. (i hope you know what i mean)

    2. Rionmoon

I’ve never noticed how bad the hand animations were in GT5. Guess I was to busy driving seeing as how this is a driving sim and all that

  20. Forza!

Where are the famous Huayra moving flaps? I don’t see any activity :(
I’m sure PD will fix this before release, but still…I don’t like it…

    1. BLACK86

can you actually see the front flaps move from driving position in real life? i assume you are talking about front flaps as you can see the rears working on the other car

  21. COUNTERSTEER123

I don’t think ALL tracks have day/nighttime or weather change like this one does. But I will take consideration into that this is ONLY a gamescom demo.

    1. MagicFerrari

From what I have watched, most of the tracks have a day/night cycle, but don’t really get into full night. It’s like if they were configured from 7:00 to 19:00. A good example of this is Silverstone, I haven’t seen a full night pic of it yet.

    2. Swagger897

Do they have lights to run a full night race? I mean dont say “well they do 24 hours races ya know?” … different track, different circumstances. I have never heard of a full night race there, other than the WTCC with topgear where the boys competed…

wow.. guess that serves this as a useless answer..

  22. MagicFerrari

AI doesn’t seem too much improved… at least HUD deals with a lot more of information. Matterhorn had day/time cycle, didn’t it? In the gameplay it’s blocked or something, the clock doesn’t step away from 11:50.

  23. djs

There’s something really wrong with the lighting inside the car… Nothing like GT5 or GT5P.
    Beside that it looks great.

  24. Trux

Wow.. break too late, run wide and hit the wall but still manages to overtake the shockingly bad AI.
    Simulator??

  25. OrangeSquid

yeah, AI seems to be a bit faster than what it was in gt5, which is always good. now, the bad thing is the recording itself. i want to hear the car, eventhough its still probably a placeholder sound…

  26. adam1942

Glad to see they’ve listened and that we no longer have rolling starts.. *ahem* I know its only a demo so I’m not worried. The game looks great and I’ll no doubt buy it. I didn’t see any tearing in that video which is good. I also thought that camera flashes where a nice touch.

    1. BeastAgent98

Yeah. In GT5 I drive a little slow just to make the race more challenging for myself lol. A little more aggressive AI would be nice..looking foward to it.

    1. Pit Crew

Whats that got to do with this trailer? Plus since NASCAR vehicles are in the GT5 to GT6 carryover list I would believe we will have Stock Car racing.

  27. TomBrady

It seems like all of the tracks in GT6 will have weather and time change. I haven’t seen one yet that doesn’t appear to have both so that’s good. I think that’s why they changed the rendering engine, they wanted an easier way to have day/night changes without the bad shadows.
