It’s Cinco de Mayo, and you know what that means: the second round of GT Academy 2015’s online qualifiers start today! After a challenging two weeks at Silverstone in the GT-R NISMO in the opening round, the competition is quickly picking up the pace – you’ll now be the GT-R NISMO GT3 Team RJN at the full Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit.

Last year, Polyphony Digital announced a public effort to recruit new sound engineers to work on improving Gran Turismo’s audio. They later reported being swamped with a “large number of applications”, and some major hiring decisions have apparently been made.

The following was written by Nicolas Hammann, 2014 United States GT Academy Champion, as he offers an inside look at the Nissan Driver Development Program which he joined after winning this past season of the competition. More to come soon as his racing season gets underway!

What an absolute joy this week has been. I spent the majority of it feverishly looking forward to this past Friday so I could go out and see Avengers: Age of Ultron, however, that would not go as planned as I wound going the night before for an advance screening, and it was well worth the time. If you haven’t seen it already and are into comic books, superheroes, or just love a good movie, you should definitely go and see this.

Over the past week, French carmaker Peugeot has been slowly releasing images of what appears to be its Vision Gran Turismo project car. They kicked things off with the teaser video below, and have shown more of the car with the gradual release of images.

Nissan’s full set of plans for the GT Academy 2015 competition have finally been revealed today, and it looks like things will be quite a bit different this year with some significant changes.

It’s no secret that Gran Turismo 2 is my absolute favorite in the series, I mention it whenever the opportunity presents itself, however, the one thing I regret when I met Kazunori Yamauchi during Jalopnik’s inaugural Film Festival wasn’t talking to him about GT2, it was forgetting to bring my imported copy of Gran Turismo 4 with me to have it signed by him.

Polyphony Digital and Nissan have confirmed the official launch date for their gamer-to-racer driver search competition as Tuesday, April 21, 2015, after including a new GT Academy Special Event in Gran Turismo 6 in the game’s 1.18 update released last night.

The latest update for Gran Turismo 6 has just been released, and it’s an interesting one: bringing with it a new Vision GT car – the second from Volkswagen – and officially confirms GT Academy 2015 with the addition of a new Special Event for this year’s competition (though it’s not yet officially started).
