The latest batch of UK retail sales data is now available on the GfK Chart-Track website. Week three brings a lot of movers and shakers in the racing genre, with a few notable slides down the rankings.
The genre’s biggest performer in UK retail last week was the ever-popular Forza Horizon 3 in 13th. Benefitting from the new 4K Xbox One X patch, Horizon 3 delivers one of the most striking experiences on the Microsoft platform. It’s now the perfect showcase for fun and fidelity on both the regular Xbox One and the cranked up X.
Bundling is also contributing to these strong sales figures, with the game being a defacto inclusion for many outlets. Many of the official bundles also include Horizon 3, such as the Hot Wheels variant found quite often for very cheap.
Good news on the PlayStation side of things, as GT Sport claws its way back into the Top 20. Placing at 23rd the previous week, Polyphony’s racer moves up five places into 18th.
Sales of the racer appear to have cooled a bit in the region but placing in the top 20 remains impressive. Perhaps the new content update coming this week will inspire more sales. New cars are expected at the very least but updates to the GT League mode or other aspects of the game certainly aren’t impossible.
Massive drops were experienced by Need For Speed Payback and Forza Motorsport 7. Despite a trend of steady growth, FM7 fell by the way side, ending up in 32nd place. Given that the racer was charting in the top 10 just last week, this is quite the fall. We’re unsure what would cause such a change to this extent. Even further down, Payback ends up in 34th place. The change in placement isn’t quite the same extent as Forza but still quite notable.
