Porsche Introduces the Futuristic, Drone-Carrying Mission E Cross Turismo at Geneva

Today at the Geneva Motor Show, Porsche unveiled the Mission E Cross Turismo. Billed as a “CUV”, or Cross-Utility Vehicle, it targets those with an “active lifestyle”.

While the Mission E sedan is set to launch next year, the CUV is a concept study and as such has no targeted release. This is evident in the LED-lit Porsche logo on the back, and monochrome badge up front.

The wheels are deep blue and its interior looks straight out of a science fiction movie. Speaking of which, LED screens dominate the interior. There’s an 11-inch unit for infotainment on the dash, and a HUD projected onto the windscreen. There’s another in the central console for controlling the climate, and, get this — a drone.

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you: we said drone. Stored in the trunk, it can follow along and capture footage in real-time. It’s as we said, straight out of a science-fiction movie. Don’t believe us? Have a look at the video below showing the concept off.

The all-electric sports car packs a serious punch when it comes to power as well. Two electric motors send over 600hp to all four wheels, pushing the Cross Turismo to 62mph in less than 3.5 seconds.

While road-ready, it isn’t a production vehicle. Instead it appears Porsche is taking the Mission E design in different directions.

CEO of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume expresses his interest in the concept:

“The Mission E Cross Turismo is an expression of how we envision the all-electric future. It combines sportiness and everyday practicality in unique style. Our vehicle will be fast to drive, but also quick to recharge and able to replicate its performance time after time.”

If this is Porsche’s idea of an all-electric future, we may not be as opposed to the idea as we once were.
