Project CARS’ Next Car Pack Promises to be the Cadillac of DLC

Another month, another pack of cars to look forward to in Project CARS. After last month’s StanceWorks Track Expansion introduced a new environment and an insane drift car to tame, Slightly Mad is continuing their pattern of following up with a straight-forward cars-only DLC. Judging by recent teasers, this will be quite the popular pack.

Up first is the Cadillac ATS-V.R. The 3.6L, 600-horsepower beast fights in the top GT category of the Pirelli World Challenge. A timely addition, then: the 2016 season kicks off the first weekend of March, at Texas’ Circuit of the Americas (where the Caddy scored its first podium, in its maiden race, last year).

Joining the ATS-V.R is a family relative, it too carrying the period-capital-R appendage. The Corvette C7.R should need no introduction, as the yellow bullets made history just last month at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Relying on good old cubic inches in lieu of the increasingly-common turbo, the rolling thunder sound of that V8 should be a welcome addition for players.

The slow tease was kicked off by a decidedly different car, however. Moving clear past production-based racing, SMS started with the sizeable rear wing of a 2012-spec Dallara Indycar on their Instagram account. Poised to be one of the fastest cars in the game, the inclusion means Project CARS will join Forza 6 in modern Indycar representation.

This newest pack will provide the game a common car with Gran Turismo, as well. Most recently, Slightly Mad also shared a dimly-lit interior shot of the long-rumoured NASCAR vehicle, a Ford Fusion. With the controversial lack of ovals in the game, we imagine players will nonetheless welcome the unique challenge that the stock car brings to the table.

SMS still has more cards to show, including the 9th free vehicle for Project CARS. Looking at their own car list, the question marks will be filled out when this pack arrives, which hints at where the final car will hail from (hint: it starts with an ‘A’).

Head on over to our Project CARS forum to discuss this and more about the title.

Woot finally something I can sink my teeth into a Caddy and a Vette, two of GM’s best. Where is the Ford GT race car? Can’t wait to hear those V8’s growl.

Personally I think Cadillac are not very nice in any way. Love the C7R though, great in reality and in the games its in so far. The ugly cadillac will make for a nice rival to beat though.

I guess we’ll forget that the Cadillac won the Pirelli World Challenge championship last year (which I saw the final race of at Laguna Seca), and the C7R whooped butt at Daytona. Yeah they’re not very reliable.

I am aware that GM can find some good people to make them look good. That doesn’t change their manufacturing process.

If we are lucky, their cars will last 5 years. They are a pitiful waste of time, effort, and money.

Yes, I know. Some of their cars last a good while. My wife talked me into getting a Corsica. It lasted until it was almost 20 years old before it failed, with about 150K on the odometer.

Then, we bought a Camry that was only 3 years younger. It already had over 200K on the odometer. Plus, it handles far better and gets much better mpg.

Yeah, slow and steady wins the GM run, but it can’t touch how good other cars REALLY are.

I’m not going to argue this. I’m not going to convince you, and there is NO chance you could possibly convince me.

The thing is, any car (even a Yugo) will last forever with good care and maintenance. All I wanted to say about that.

To be fair it says “where” in the main post not “which manufacturer” which is a bit misleading, but clearly it’s a car before Alpine A450 in the alphabet. Aardvark? ;) 911 ;) just kidding – I’ve no idea. Maybe another Alpine?
