PSP-3000 “Gran Turismo Edition”

gran-turismo-psp-3000-racing-pack

gran-turismo-psp-3000-racing-pack-backAs if today hadn’t been dramatic enough for GT fans, Polyphony Digital has pulled the Gran Turismo 5 feature list from their website.  In its place, they’ve announced the PSP-3000 “Gran Turismo Edition” – which is quite curious, considering how strongly the game has been associated with the new PSP Go.  At this point, we don’t have any more details about the availability of this device, only that it’s going to be “released in limited quantity” on October 1st.

In all honesty, though, you’d have to be a pretty hard-core fan to pick up the “Gran Turismo Edition”, when you could get the game for free on the new hardware.  We’ll keep you updated when we learn more…

If all its going to have is that small GT logo then its not worth it. It needs to be like carbon fibre and have a large GT logo in chrome replacing the PSP logo on the UMD drive, then I would buy it!

Also its odd that they are pushing a GT branded PSP when the Go is what you will get the game free with, very odd!

I’m wanting to get PSP exclusively for the purpose of GTM, and this looks like the best of the breed for what I want. I’ve always found a certain beauty and grace to the PSP design, and the PSP Go scraps the elegance in favour of an oversized, underbuttoned cell-phone shape.

So, I’ll just have to settle for the most modern pretty one with a lovely little GT logo on it instead. And if it does come with GTM, wow, excellent bargain.

Makes perfect sense eh? So a PSP3000 + GT = $209, which you say is a better deal than the PSPGo at $250. Well what about the 16GB of memory the Go has and the PSP3000 doesn’t?

Please note that the GTM/PSP special edition bundle has only been announced in Japan and maybe not available in the US/EU market. Also the PSPgo/GTM free DL was announced for the US/EU market so may not be availabe in Japan. Apart from the small GT logo and “titanium black” coloring for the metal surround on an otherwise standard Black PSP-3000, the Japanese text also mentioned GT-themed accessories (hand strap, pouch etc.) being developed for the bundle.

Like the twitter update says, they have removed the GT5 information from the PD website. That’s strange. Sorry if I didn’t make that clear :)

Just seen the link and it’s just SMALL Symbol unfortunately…. I would have liked the UMD Drive to have the GT Symbol on it instead of PSP lol, Will get the GO depending on more details but if thats it for those *Special Units* i’ll pass quite happily lol

I’d like to know more about this. Weither or not it will be an exclusive console or just a bundled console with the game, If it has branding like the Final Fantasy Crisis Core pack then i’ll be definately interested and will make me determine weither or not to opt for that pack or the Go pack which i’ll be satisfied either way :) I remember the 2004 TGS Gran Turismo PSP which was White and never released of course as the game was delayed until now lol

    PSPGo is selling for $250.

    PSP3000 is $169

GTM is going to be $40.

    $169 + $40 = $209 which is still cheaper than the Go.

    Makes perfect sense to me…
