With the long wait for Assetto Corsa Competizione’s GT2 Pack DLC almost over after 18 months, Kunos Simulazioni has revealed that the Red Bull Ring will finally be making its way to the title as part of the pack.
It’s a surprise announcement in two ways, as you might expect the circuit to already be in ACC — as it is with virtually every other sim racing title — but the simple fact is it hasn’t featured on the calendar for SRO events and hasn’t been eligible for inclusion, at least until now.
The addition of GT2 cars makes the track available to the title as it has hosted rounds of the Fanatec GT2 European Series in 2022 and 2023, although isn’t on the calendar for this season.
Red Bull Ring will join six cars in the GT2 Pack DLC, with the Audi R8 LMS GT2, KTM X-Bow GT2, Maserati MC20 GT2, Mercedes-AMG GT2, Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport Evo, and the 2019 Porsche 935 comprising the rest of the bundle.
Eagle-eyed fans will note that there’s no space there for the Brabham BT62/63 GT2. That may be due to a recent change at Brabham, wherein the Brabham Group Limited which owns the name terminated its collaboration with the Fusion Capital company that operated the Brabham Automotive vehicle manufacturer.
The GT2 Pack DLC will release on Steam for PC on Wednesday January 24, with the price yet to be confirmed but likely around the $15 range. There’s no news yet on when the pack will be made available for Gen 9 consoles, but we’d anticipate it in 3-6 months.
Of course this isn’t the only European circuit coming to ACC this year, with the Nurburgring 24h circuit scheduled to arrive soon to the base game.
