SuperCar Challenge Hits Tomorrow, Free Demo Codes

boxart

When Ferrari Challenge by System3 hit store shelves last year, it wasn’t warmly received by the mainstream press, proving how difficult it is for more “serious” racing games without a strong pedigrees to become widely popular. Despite the critics, the game attracted many fans right here in the GTPlanet Forums, due to its challenging physics and rewarding gameplay. Tomorrow, System3 is moving their series forward with SuperCar Challenge in Europe, offering a wider selection of cars and tracks, excellent sound, and a refined experience for players using the Logitech G25.

Better yet, they’re offering a free, limited demo of SCC, and as of writing there are a little over 3,000 beta codes still available.  You can request a code here, just be careful to write  down your code on the website as they do not send you another copy.  To see what the game looks like in action, check out this gameplay video at Spa Francorchamps, or read the reviews in our new SCC Forum.

So I’m a bit late, but first I dl the demo, which I hoped was still big beta (no clutch), but tought it had potential. so i ordered it.

    First the bad side:
When i got it an i played the first, I was like, wow 30€ in the trash.
the under- and oversteering is quite exagerated at low speeds (drift). Other borthering thing is the lack of option for the wheel. Even with everything on low. The FFB is still a bit strong.
The cars are not bad (except that 2/3 is the same as in their ferrari game!).
And I find the game it self is pretty challanging to not say hard. One spin out and forget it. And catching the 1st one , you need luck to not get hit by the other cars.
CPU getting pretty close in the begin of cornoring, and at the exit you pull easily away.
A bit unbalanced for me. But not a bad bad point.

    Now the positive stuff:
Circuits +++ : great selection , 90% realistic i would say( my opinion and not played all of them)
Cars : most of cars are nice to drive (some suck bad without tuning the suspension)
graphics: Problem here is , I compare everything to Gt. and then the graphics suck. but stand alone, and considering that sims always have some mediocre graphics. this is pretty good. Rain effect while driving interior view is awesome. Yes AWESOME!
Physics: Pretty descent, not perfect (could be wih more options for the wheel (turning angle, dead yone sensivity,…) but for a “hardcore” sim on console the best I seen.
Sound : Pretty good, except that I’m not convinced with every sound during the revs. at some points it’s sound not like a race car or ferrari. but that is just complaining on a very high level. Sounds are very good.

    My conclusion:
If your a petrol head, having a good wheel (but don’t need a clutch at all cost). Having challanging races. Pretty hard physics. Than this game is for you. But don’t put your exceptions too high IT’S NOT GT5!!!!!
And I think that you must have the 30€ easily in hand, in order not to regret this choice.

As it stands for me for now: the more I play the more fun it’s get. And it’s a good alternative to kill time till GT5.

Best choice DL the demo, still available. Try it out at least 5 laps! And then decide. Beta and final build are prety close together.

Hope this helped at least one. I was trying to find a good review but not existing.

    Till then, waiting 4 GT5

Cheers Jordan, I got the code & downloaded the beta & the update, holding off to check it out till I get my G25 on Thurs. Excellent site, loads of really helpful information, I really appreciate all your hard work.

Just got back off my holiday and saw this, downloading it now, brilliant!!!!

PS theres still over 1300 available

  4. GT The Best

I’ve download and played this game for 3 days already. First of all, the sound of the cars in this game is really really awesome. Love the mechanical sound and misfiring system on the racing cars.To me it sounds more realistic than GT5 Prologue. Secondly, it feels more realistic under hard braking than GT5. During hard braking, you can get feedback to the steering wheel that the car is skidding left-right a little bit and gain more traction as it slows down. In reality, when a racing car brakes hard, while the brakes produce an opposing stopping force to stop the car, the weight will definitely drag the car forward causing an unsmooth slow down. Now you guys might think I’m racing GT5 Prologue in Arcade mode but here are what I set: Simulation = Professional mode, Traction Control = Off, ASM = Off, ABS = 1, Steering Assist = Off, Braking Assist = Off.

Lastly, I like the online lobby system because you will have the control on who to join your game as well as inviting friends. I am sure GT5 will be able to do this. Now with the down side of Super Car Challenge: Graphics not on par with GT5 and the feel of driving McLaren F1. I’ve driven all three cars of the demo and I find the McLaren F1 to be understeering freaking badly. As a Mid Engine Rear Wheel Drive car, dont the car produce more oversteer than understeer? Its not convincing to me but as I obviously have not driven and most likely will not have the chance to drive the real thing, can anyone give me an answer?

Comparing this 2 racing sim games, I think Polyphony should forget about the damn damage. They should improve the car sound (add misfiring system and the mechanical sound) and tweak the driving physics a little to get the effect i mentioned. Well GT does have a great driving physics but I think its missing some touches. I really hope they can address to these minor details as I’m a huge fan of GT series. I’m not bashing GT but hoping to see these small and should have improvements in coming GT. Cheers.

  5. caribbeantopdriver

i downloaded the game and its awsome……… i would give this game the edge in driving physics over gt5 prologue with the g25 steering wheel…… but granturismo will always be my number one, am the aston martin is magnificant. who did this game??? awsome, but i want to know if there is any cluth in the game using the g25 wheel?

  6. Webbo

I’ve had a couple of races today online (won them all XD) and the game does feel remarkable nice and sim like. It’s the closest thing I’ve played to GT (I haven’t played Forza, don’t care) but don’t get me wrong: it’s nowhere near as good, but it’s definately the closes thing. The Aston Martin as also as stunning to drive as it looks they did a fantasic job with it.

  7. Cort

Hmmm, it’s like driving a heavily-laden oil tanker. With a dodgy rudder. In a sea of treacle. Changed to arcade mode and added all the assists to see what that is like and it got … harder, with a 30 second slower lap.

Touch the grass? Apparently grass is sticky – so sticky, in fact, that it can hold on to an Aston Martin DB9 travelling at high speed, forcing you to wrench the car away with all your might. It also has the patented Codemasters crash mechanic. You know the one: in 99.5% of accidents you end up facing the barrier square on, and lose a bunch of time reversing before you can head back to the track.

    No thanks.

    /deletes beta

  8. Dont

How can i play this beta? i already downloaded it and updated, but when i start searching for a game match than it says ”No games found” What should i do?

  9. MotzMan

Been playing a little bit, and would say the sound is much improved over FC. I’d say the physics are much improved, I can actually feel the car on the road much more than in FC. I did notice the Enzo, and F1, did feel a little light in the nose requiring a different line than the DB9. But that’s probably because they’re mid-engine cars vs the front engine DB9.

My BIGEST gripe about the beta is the online matching. I’ve had the hardest time getting into a race with someone else. You have a lot of single players just going it alone. So I end up camping in a lobby with a good ping, and at least 2 other racers, and wait for their race to finish.

Another thing that’s driving me nuts is hosts dropping out after 1 race.

Racing in the rain is a blast, and I love the dash cam, I wish GT5 would have a dash cam for better visibility.

It’s no GT5, but it’s a lot more fun, so far, than FC, IMHO.

  10. oREECEo

Handling is appauling, got a G25 wheel as well, feels like you need to get your gran to take these cars round the track, the portrayal of speed is very poor, waste of £25, wish I’d seen this post before I went shopping, only got it because it was cheap, now I know why. The physic’s dept need to go back to uni.

  11. Dan

Just a warning to the more careful among us; the T & C’s declare that any information you give them can be used in any way they like and that you hold no right to control anything they do with it. I’m sure nothing terrible is going to happen, but it’s worth knowing. Check it out for yourself.

  12. Emu76

No this is the old CVG BETA, I put the key I got here in, and it linked me to the same BETA on the Playstation Store that I had already downloaded, and it said I had already downloaded it. I launched it again and there is another patch, so maybe there’s more stuff now.

  13. Kevin

I think the game is not good – sorry.

Racing an Aston Martin is OK, no, actually it is fun. BUT, do not try to race the Enzo or the McLaren. Both of them are really great cars in reality but they s..k big time in the game. The Enzo & McLaren are far slower around corners than the DB9 while in reality the Enzo should be a bullet around corners. In Spa Francochamps you can do the Eau Rouxe and Radillion flat out on a DB9 but you go straight into the wall with the Enzo. I think it is not a very accurate game.

    Sorry.

  14. Dom

The game is really fun. Reminds me off GTR 1 in many ways. The Enzo is my favorite car. You need a wheel for the game, that’s for sure! (all options must be off for a good racing experience)

  15. N155AN

i changed my mind… turn the volume up to full…. take the dbr9 out on spa… and use the g25!

amazing game… sounds are awsome, i really hope gt5 comes close to this

also rain is good too, the car slides and you can even hear the widnscreen wiper lol

    the downshift sounds are wicked!

  16. cobraagent90

Really funny game You should definitely download it. Now we all wait for TGS we needed this game to have some fun

  17. Azzer

Thank you 4 the code, the update is bigger than the whole beta?? Lol. Got the code last night, just time, got 2, one 4 a m8.

  18. N155AN

    the game is approx 500mb + a 522mb update.

    first reviews are…..
the sound is good especially when your at the menu screen and you hear the enzo…

graphics leave a lot to be desired… although nothing compares to gt5p as of yet….

and gameplays pretty decent although somewhat hard to get used to at first….

interior cockpit is rather horrible to be honest… makes you really appreciate PD’s work into GT5

dont get me wrong this games a good pass time until GT5 :)

  19. Topyn

Read on another forum, “SuperCar Challenge PS3” is compatible with these Force Feedback Steering Wheels:

    – Logitech Driving Force / GT
    – Logitech G25
    – Thrustmaster RGT Clutch ForceFeedback
    – Thrustmaster FERRARI F430 ForceFeedback

  20. cobraagent90

There is an update for the trial that you have to install if you want to play the game. ITS 522MB: approximately the same size with the demo

  21. steven

Sorry to be a wiseass Jordan, but I just now entered the code and the beta program is downloading as I’m writing this. So perhaps the beta period is not ended by August 31.

    1. Jordan

Thanks for sharing these links to CVG, guys, but as everyone has reported in our forums, those codes expired last month. Until someone fixes the above website, there is no other place to join the beta.

  23. cobraagent90

I have a problem when I try to get the code. I click on “here” but it says 500 internal server error. This means the website is offline or that i cant access it?

  24. Hernan

I already played the beta, not bad at all. I got the Ps3 two weeks ago and the first 2 games i got was GT5p and Ferrari Challenge, is nice to see some new sim racing games, i hope they sell well with this new one, it was sad that they didnt do it with the first.
I also dont understand why Ferrari Challenge or this game are not released in 360 and PC too, both platforms that have big racing fans.

  25. eMke3

Can we get the source tomek_pl ? I don’t believe it till it comes out from Kaz himself. I hope your source is right though ;)

I got this info from a Polish website and I translated to english. Thanks to Google!

Limited to the console of Gran Turismo PSP, PS3 Slim Sets Future

… But the most interesting item is a kit designed to hit the stores December 4 – will be 75 thousand PS3s of Gran Turismo 5 sold at a price $ 339. Recall that this is so far the only concrete date, which appears in connection with that title. Sony officially reported only that GT5 will be released later this year, shortly after the PSP version, while the whole world.

Sounds pretty interesting right? December 4 PS3 Slim with GT5! That means that its coming out on that day or even earlier! Awesome

hey the update is downloading now its just going really really slow its on 2% and it has around 1266 minutes left
    thanks jordon

    1. Jordan

The website hosting the codes does appear to be offline at the moment, you are not alone. Let’s hope it comes back online soon as I believe there were still many codes left to be distributed – perhaps they weren’t expecting so much interest in the beta and it overwhelmed their site’s infrastructure.

  28. steve30x

I downloaded the demo which took half a hour but now its downloading an update with almost an hour at 80% done now. Its 12:50am now so it will get finished some time after 1am

  29. martin

hey i have an australian account and downloaded the game quick but i went to download the update and it stay on 0% is it coz i dont have an uk account???
    thanks

  30. HaVoK_

AWESOME…Ahhh the perks for being a loyal GtPlanet member! Regardless if which game we play we are all “petrol heads” at heart..THANKS!!

  31. theferrarifan

Well the last comment I made should be also said that I will be playing it until GT5 comes out(hopefully soon my birthday is on the 25th September so a release date announcement because it clashes with the Japanese games show would be the icing on the cake!!!!

  32. theferrarifan

Im in the UK cant wait for this to come out tomorrow. Im getting it after work and cant wait to play it all weekend

  33. tomek_pl

Thanks Jordan! It sucks that I can’t sign in to one of my best account. Forgot the e-mail, I did some random e-mail for a that account and then my PS3 broke so I got a new one after 3 months and its been six months already and still didn’t find out how to log in :(

  34. Thegt4masta

Speaking of updates, after i finished downloading the game there was an update that I am now downloading that is almost the size of the game itself. Its 522 mb, but it said logitech wheel improvements or something so its gotta do something important.

  35. Emu76

Is this the same as the multiplayer BETA CVG were giving keys away for earlier this month? I was sure that deactivated at the end of August though… So is this a new, bigger BETA or just the same 2 track, 3 car BETA that we had before?

    1. Jordan

Thegt4masta, no, it will not affect your Canadian account – just switch over to your old profile on your PS3 and you’ll find everything as you left it.

  36. Crispy

Excellent!! BIG thanks Jordan!! I’d seen a few friends playing this a while back and wandered where they downloaded it from…now I know. Cheers :D

  37. Forgetful

I entered my Canadian ID, to get the code from the website. The code didn’t work on the NA PSN Store, but it did work when I made a new UK account, so the PSN ID you give them on the website doesn’t matter. Thanks Jordan! Something to pass the time.

  38. Jordan

Just so you guys know, it is very easy for anyone to create a European PSN account. Just create a new user profile on your PS3 and create a new PSN account with a European country/address. The address is not checked or verified.

  39. jon

doess anyone know if this ‘demo’ the same as the online multiplayer beta or a proper demo with single player stuff as well??
