It’s a car we’ve been hearing about — and indeed hearing — for months, but until now not one that’s been used in anger.

Aston Martin has become the first manufacturer to reveal its Le Mans “hypercar”, under the new rules for 2020-2021.

Aston Martin has been talking about its Valkyrie hypercar for some time now. It first arrived in prototype AM-RB 001 form three years ago, but we’re only finding out today just how hyper it is.

When you buy an Aston Martin, one of the things you expect is the ability to make it truly individual. Even if it’s one of 150, stripped-out, $3.2m hypercars, sporting a 1,000hp, 6.5-liter V12 and F1 knowledge from Red Bull Racing, you’d expect some options at least.

A hypercar needs a hyper engine. Thanks to Cosworth, the Aston Martin Valkyrie’s engine is as hyper as they come, and today Aston Martin has revealed it in full.

New images from Aston Martin’s Instagram show that its Valkyrie hypercar is getting pretty close to complete, ahead of road testing next year.

At the end of last month, the Porsche 919 Evo obliterated the Nordschleife lap record. It was a record that took 35 years to beat, but it seems challengers are already looking for a way to dethrone it as the King of the Ring.

It’s been difficult recently to open up a motoring website, or car magazine, without seeing some new hypercar.
