As gearheads, the roar of an engine is often music to our ears. We love everything from the whine of a high-strung I4 to the bellow of a meaty V10. Thankfully, Audi shares our sentiment and rolled out a musical rendition to some famous classic TV shows for the Emmy Awards.
Scroll back to 20 years ago and the concept of a supercar coming from anywhere other than a niche manufacturer from Italy or maybe the UK was ridiculous. Audi clearly had different ideas, and we’ve been out driving the new generation of its R8 to see how it has done second time around.
If you’re worried that your 600hp, V10 supercar isn’t quite as conspicuous as you were hoping, Audi has the solution for you. The marque is soon to release a selection of retrofit goodies for its R8 and TT ranges, under the “Audi Sports Performance Parts” brand.

You know the story by now: last month the Ready To Race car pack made its way to Assetto Corsa. Included were 10 brand-new vehicles ranging from a “budget” supercar to two hardcore Le Mans prototypes. Throughout the week we’ve put seven of the ten vehicles through their paces. At last, it’s time to bring the series to a close with the final three — the extreme three.
Earlier this week we celebrated Assetto Corsa’s Ready To Race car pack by breaking in four of the included cars. We haven’t forgotten about Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, the latest free-to-play release of the Forza series and the first one built for the Windows 10 platform. Although it doesn’t feature the traditional hallmarks of the console-released titles in the franchise (online multiplayer, wheel support and livery editor), with 63 cars and approximately 20 variations of 6 playable circuits, the game still offers a tease of what’s to come, as future Forza titles will be released on Xbox One and PC simultaneously.
The emotional investment toward Assetto Corsa now that we’re just over a month away from the console release is almost palpable, and with good reason: console-goers have plenty to look forward as many of those currently enjoying the game on PC will surely attest.
Partnerships between automotive manufacturers and video-game companies are nothing new –Gran Turismo’s own Vision GT programme is built around the relationships that can be forged through collaborations.
