More than three years after it was first announced — and a year on from when it should have released — the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) game is dead, after the rights holder TOCA terminated its licensing agreement.

2022 was shaping up to be a great year for racing game fans, but there’s a fresh disappointment emerging as it appears the much-anticipated British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) game now won’t arrive this year after all.

The recent announcement of a new British Touring Cars Championship racing game has generated a lot of excitement, but there are still plenty of questions. It’s a title that isn’t coming until 2022, and naturally details are scarce.

A pretty solid rumor earlier this year suggested that a game based on the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) was in development. That’s now been confirmed today, with Motorsport Games at the helm.

Three-time British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) champion Matt Neal appears to have confirmed that there is a new game based on the championship in development. One of the best-known national touring car championships in the world, the BTCC has been the subject of racing games before, notably 1997’s TOCA Touring Car Championship.
