Big savings have again arrived for the Forza series for Xbox Live Gold members. In this week’s Deals With Gold, Microsoft has combined Forza Motorsport 6 and Forza Horizon 2 (the Xbox One version) into one bundle, along with other content such as Car Passes and a VIP membership for sale separately.
At the tail-end of 2015, Turn 10 quietly snuck the 1966 Nissan Silvia into Forza Motorsport 6, mated alongside the Mobil 1 Car Pack released just two days earlier. Not formally announced, players quickly identified that the CSP311 could only be obtained through the game’s career mode.
After announcing the details of Season 1 last week, Turn 10 launches the Forza Racing Championship today. This week focuses on the 2015 Mustang GT, with Elite Series players heading to Monza in search of the fastest single lap time, while Open Series drivers will take to a variety of tracks in the Leagues event.
Turn 10 has just revealed the latest car pack for its 2015 sim racing title, and it’s easily one of the strangest the game has seen. As you can see in the video above, the full gamut is on display, with a new “entry-level” supercar taking pride of place in front of a collection of racing vehicles and two older road-going models. One of these – the BMW Isetta – is one of the smallest cars found in the game, while the youngest racer in the pack introduces European Racing Trucks to Forza. The full break down:
With Forza Horizon 3 in the spotlight after E3, you’d be forgiven for thinking Turn 10 has wrapped up support for their most recent title. Enjoying a new car pack each month since October – as well as two expansion packs focusing on Porsche and NASCAR – June saw a break from the typical release schedule, with only the new Ford GT LM showing up (for free). We’ve now had confirmation from the team that more cars will be added to the game’s 600-and-counting lineup, a week from tomorrow.
The first Tuesday of each month is traditionally ‘New Car Pack’ day for Forza fans. With the Season Pass complete, and E3 just around the corner, players are unsure of whether a new car pack will be arriving soon or not. Ford UK has let slip that, regardless of a car pack’s arrival, all Forza Motorsport 6 players will be receiving a free treat today, in the form of the Ford GT LM.
Fans of American stock car racing will soon have a new option on consoles: Forza 6 will include them in an upcoming expansion. As we reported last week, the upcoming pack (the second of its kind, after the Porsche Expansion Pack) should have 24 cars from the current 2016 season, alongside Homestead-Miami Speedway, as well as new HUD features for drafting and car spotting.
It looks like the upcoming Forza Horizon 3 isn’t the only big thing Microsoft has planned for the franchise. While Forza 6 receives monthly DLC packs (the most recent being the Hot Wheels pack that released earlier this week), and the series makes in-roads on the PC platform, a recent leak suggests a second expansion pack for the current Xbox One title.
“Where is the S14?” While that particular refrain will no doubt echo on in the face of this month’s FM6 DLC, the Meguiar’s Car Pack does at least address one of the most-requested vehicles, with Ferrari’s turbocharged, 661bhp 488 GTB finding its way into the game. The berlinetta is arguably overshadowed by other additions, as this pack drills into the history books to present cars that are making their racing game debuts.
