GT series guru Amar212 has managed to unlock Gran Turismo 5’s upcoming DLC, and has shared the very first hands-on videos of Spa Francorchamps on behalf of GTPlanet and his own Croatian GT community, GTSurgeons. Amar is documenting his discoveries here in our forums, and I’ll continue updating this blog post as he goes over all the new content.
Though Gamescom 2011 wasn’t nearly as exciting for GT fans as it was last year, Sony and Audi did use the event to launch an impressive new GT5 simulator built around an R8 LMS race car, similar to the one found in the game.
Remember when Marco Calvo took home a real-world SLS AMG last month, in Mercedes-Benz’s GT5 Signature Edition driving challenge? They’ve since released a video of the finals – hit play above to see how it all went down.
Before you ask in the comments below, no – the PlayStation Network isn’t back up yet (not as of writing, at least). While you wait, check out this slick video tour of Gran Turismo 5’s real-world Tokyo R246 circuit, put together by Caterham Japan to feature their Superlight R300. For comparison, here’s a lap of the track in GT5:
If you’ve spent much time online in GT5 or our forums recently, you may have seen one of the latest “glitches” discovered in the game (there’s more on YouTube). With a little help from a friend, you can “break out” of the Nurburgring using a high-powered car (usually the X2010) to explore or – unfortunately – acquire a lot of money very quickly. The glitch appears to work just as the one discovered at SSR7, which was just patched last week in GT5 v1.08. Watch the the video above to see how it’s done – hopefully this is an issue that can be resolved soon.
Keep an eye on our friends at TaxiGamer – they’ve got a copy of Gran Turismo 5 and proper HD video capture equipment, and have already shared the game’s intro and two race replays in glorious quality with a promise of even more to come. The original MP4 video files are also available to download, so you can load them up on your PlayStation 3 console to see what’s in store for you next Wednesday. Check out all of their GT5 content right here!
