More casting news for the new Gran Turismo movie is emerging, with Hollywood Reporter — again — announcing that American actor Darren Barnet will play an important role in the film.
Although we’re still around a year away from the release of the Gran Turismo movie, it looks like the promotional push has already started with a new logo and new social media accounts for the film.
According to entertainment outlet Deadline, a film adaptation of Gran Turismo could be in development — amid widespread reports that the racing game series was set to be the subject of a television show.
Racing games hit the mainstream last year, as pro drivers picked up their controllers (or expensive driving rigs) to fill in for the postponed motorsport season. In fact they even proved a big hit on television, drawing in viewers by the million.
Gran Turismo is heading to the big screen this autumn! Unfortunately, not in the way you think though. Instead, it’ll have a very brief cameo in the upcoming Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.
News about the upcoming Gran Turismo feature film is sparse, but things are still moving forward behind the scenes. The Hollywood Reporter had more news late last week that brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber have joined the screenwriting production team.
It’s been a long, long time since we’ve heard anything about the Gran Turismo Movie – a feature film built around the GT franchise. While Gran Turismo The Movie is still somewhat small on the horizon, Sony has brought it one step closer to realization. The Hollywood Reporter is naming Watchmen Co-Writer Alex Tse as the writer for the upcoming video game adaptation film. As he talked about the GT franchise during Sony’s Gamescom 2013 media event, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Jim Ryan (check out our recent interview with him) formally announced the Gran Turismo movie, fully confirming the news leaked last month by a Hollywood news site.
Since it was leaked last week, news of the Gran Turismo feature film has spread far and wide among the video game, automotive, and entertainment industries, but the project hadn’t yet been publicly confirmed by anyone associated with Sony.
Hollywood news site “TheWrap” is reporting some certainly unexpected news: Sony Pictures has started production on an “action movie” based on the Gran Turismo series.
