According to Polyphony Digital studio boss Kazunori Yamauchi, the total lifetime player count for Gran Turismo Sport now stands at 9.5 million users. Yamauchi shared this figure as part of an interview with Japanese journalist Toshifume Watanabi, for the Japanese regional version of Octane magazine, published this last weekend.
With 2017 now in the rear-view mirror, the final UK sales chart for the year has been released. With the chart covering sales up to December 30, it’s impressive to see, GT Sport back in the top 10.
Following some pretty prolific launches, the racing genre is doing well in the UK right now. Last week’s sales numbers show that not two, not three, but four racers charted in the top 10. Strong continued showings from previously released games were joined by Need For Speed Payback, the latest offering from Ghost and EA.
It’s been almost a month since Gran Turismo Sport’s launch. Earlier this week, we reported strong sales for GT Sport in the UK charts with Polyphony Digital’s newest racer holding a respectable 5th place.
This week’s UK video game sales numbers have shown off some impressive figures for the racing genre. Three big titles have seen noteworthy holds or moves up the sales ladder in the face of stiff competition.
