While it may have only become available two weeks ago, there’s a lot of footage of the Gran Turismo Sport beta out there now. The amount of videos has only grown as more and more people have gained access to Polyphony’s upcoming sim racer. We’ve rounded up a few of the best examples to give those waiting for access a better idea of what to expect.
Gran Turismo Sport was playable at the Taipei Game Show this past weekend—on the new PlayStation 4 Pro no less. While the build doesn’t appear to be much different from the one shown at the PlayStation Experience last December, it nonetheless shows us some new aspects of the game.
Although we’ve finished sharing the direct-capture GT Sport videos, we haven’t touched on the off-screen recordings from the general public that attended the 2016 PlayStation Experience. Possibly one of the earliest among them provides more information on several aspects of GT Sport. Darwin Albano, a 2012 GT Academy USA finalist, shared interesting footage showing new in-game menus, new performance statistic bars for each car and more sub-groups for the road-biased Gr.N.
There’s never too much of a good thing and we’re continuing to use that mantra as we bring you even more direct gameplay footage from 2017’s upcoming GT Sport. We’ve had a look at the Nürburgring, Tokyo Expressway and Brands Hatch so far but this latest video takes us down and dirty at Fisherman’s Ranch.
In a game designed for online competition, the announcement of rally racing in Gran Turismo Sport came as a bit of a surprise. Although rally first appeared in Gran Turismo 2 — and has introduced real-world rally champions to the sport — off-road racing has always felt like a bit of an afterthought in GT games.
Way back in June after the Copperbox reveal event, we first broke the news that GT Sport’s sound design would be composed with an entirely new system. Then just recently we reported Eurogamer’s impressions on the game that included some high praise about improvements in the in-game audio. This area has never been the strongest suit in the GT franchise but that looks to be changing as we take a look at the above direct audio capture video uploaded by MotoGamesTV.
Due to the broad range of video game conferences GT Sport has been appearing at lately, we’ve been witnessing a great deal of off-screen recordings the last few weeks. While arguably the biggest shock came from the surprisingly meaty Mercedes-AMG sounds we showed you earlier this week, the latest additions provide additional glimpses at what seems to be the latest build.
There’s no real way to dance around it: engine sounds have not been one of Gran Turismo’s strong points, historically. While a few of the 1200+ cars in GT6 howled and growled authentically, the majority left a lot to be desired for many players. This latest video, straight from the floor of the Paris Motor Show, could be a sign of those days drawing to a close.
We all remember Fishermans Ranch dirt track, don’t we? Doubtlessly it was one of the main highlights this past August at Gamescom, as Polyphony gave a name to one of the dirt tracks set to appear in GT Sport. Being part of the series since the earliest days, this racing domain will play an important role in GT Sport’s diversity. Therefore, we’re happy to share the new gameplay footage recorded during 2016 Warsaw Gaming Week by MotoGamesTV.
One of the most unique aspects of Gran Turismo Sport are the fantasy race-cars that will make up the ‘Group 3’ racing class in the game. These cars have been prominent in marketing materials for the game so far and also in the playable builds featured at game shows around the world. Courtesy of GTPlanet user Rage Racer once again, we have some gameplay footage from IgroMir 2016 — Russia’s first and biggest gaming convention — showing off the Hyundai Genesis Gr.3 race car in a high-speed battle.
As we wander through the Gran Turismo Sport wilderness that is the lack of official gameplay, we can take solace that the game is still being showcased around the world during this quiet period — this time in Russia.
The latest build of GT Sport is being shown off on the floor at E3, but for those not in attendance eager to see what’s in store, a new direct-feed gameplay video has begun making its way online.
In a slightly unexpected move, Sony has unveiled the latest Gran Turismo Sport trailer mere days before the year’s biggest gaming event. The title confirms this is indeed the footage intended for E3 next week, and while it contains a lot of familiar content for those who’ve kept track of our GT Sport coverage the last month, it does hold some welcome surprises.
