“Everyone likes a game. Computer game or board game, the choice is yours. Fan of Pong? Mario or Sonic? Lara Croft or Nathan Whatsisface? Monopoly, Scrabble, or Trivial Pursuit? Let’s see a livery based on a game.”
”It’s been a while in a game now and I’m pretty sure that everyone has bought one or more Safety Cars. This week they will be dressed; I want you to design a safety car, a pace car, or a support vehicle for a place, a circuit, or a series.”
What do Blockbuster, Toys R Us, PAN AM Airways & Plymouth all have in common? They don’t exist any more! This challenge can either be period correct, or a modern relaunch, but your livery’s primary sponsor must be a brand that no longer exists. It can be a big international brand, a closed down local shop or anything in between!
I want your liveries to be in different colours than what they’re known for. You can go for something that is actually good looking or, closer to the theme’s name, is an absolute crime to the eyes.
“Take any roadcar and create a nice racing livery for it. No replicas this time, you are the designer for a brand new racing team. The main sponsors are limited to “small” sponsors: no companies that have ever fully sponsored a professional race team.“
“My theme is to recreate those bright/bold schemes of the 90s/00s Touring Car era. The inspiration can come from Touring Car or DTM designs, but they must be on a TC or Gr4 car.”
To pay tribute to the legendary circuit, and truly epic annual 24 hour race, for this competition the limitations are as follows: Recreate a livery from any 24 Hour race on the Nordschleife since 1970. It does not have to be on the correct car, but the car should be of a type you would have seen racing on the Nordschleife.
Some of the most iconic liveries through the years have been simple, they features stripes. Martini, Gulf, or my favorite: BRE. I want you to design a stripey livery, be it a simple own design, or a complex replica. There’s no right or wrong, let’s see those stripes!
With Gran Turismo 7 now finally out, GTPlanet’s regular Livery Editor Competition is also underway for the new title. The theme for the first round is “nostalgia” — liveries from some of the most famous race cars in GT’s history, applied to some of the newer cars in GT7.
Over the past few weeks, we have celebrated two years of GT Sport Livery Editor competitions with a very special round dedicated to the GTPlanet community itself.
It might be hard to believe, but our community has hosted over 50 GT Sport Livery Editor competitions since GTPlanet user syntex123 launched the official contests two years ago.
GTPlanet’s forums are home to a bustling community of GT Sport Livery Editor artists, and staff member “Cytoria” regularly hosts competitions for creators of all skill levels.
