Jann Mardenborough to Compete in 2017 Super GT Season

The driver slots for the 2017 Super GT season are steadily filling up. Although the class GT300 remains to be fully completed, drivers for the class GT500 are already known. One of them is Jann Mardenborough, the talented GT Academy alumni who will compete under supervision of the Team Impul Calsonic. With the help of his co-driver Hironobu Yasuda, Jann will be steering the wheels of the Nissan GT-R (#12), painted in highly recognizable blue livery.

Jann Mardenborough Just Misses GT300 Podium in 2016 Super GT Season

In spite of his heroic efforts displayed on track this year in the Super GT series, the top step of the podium eluded Jann Mardenborough this past weekend. After missing the 2016 All-Japan F3 title by a narrow margin, a very similar scenario befell the GT Academy grad at Motegi. Ater two back-to-back 250 km races at the circuit, Jann and his co-driver Kazuki Hoshino settled their team B-Max NDDP GT-R at 4th position in the GT300 class.

This weekend we’re going to find out the new title-holders of the 2016 Super GT season. The races designated to conclude another season of this stimulating touring series will be held at Twin Ring Motegi course, with both Saturday and Sunday featuring 250km races. Due to the exciting conclusion of the 2016 All-Japan Formula 3 series, we’ve barely been able to keep up with the other racing activities the ever-busy Jann Mardenborough has been involved with. The talented GT Academy wasted no time in adding more silverware to his shelf, this time in the familiar silhouette of the Nissan GT-R: alongside co-driver Kazuki Hoshino, Jann helped put the B-Max NDDP car on the podium in the GT300 class. This is the second podium placement for the team since they snatched the gold at the 500km Fuji endurance event last May.

Soaked weather conditions greeted drivers of the All-Japan Formula 3 open-wheel series as they entered the 9th round of the series, taking place at Fuji Speedway. Although the weather stabilized by the time the field entered the qualification round, the track still wasn’t dry enough to allow for a full-on slick tire compound. These conditions, however, did not stop Mardenborough from performing well.

Jann Mardenborough’s First Victory in All-Japan Formula 3 Championship

All-Japan Formula 3 Championship is a small open-wheel series that takes place at various landmark circuits all over Japan. Each weekend drivers are required to tackle two rounds per course (for total of 16 rounds) if they want to claim the title at the end of season. Well known 2011 GT Academy graduate Jann Mardenborough is one of the drivers currently taking part in this interesting event.
