As previously announced, GTPlanet has teamed up with Nissan to host a live Twitter party during Thursday night’s episode of GT Academy 2012, which aired on Spike TV at 11:30pm ET in the United States.
As just announced last month, GT Academy champion Lucas Ordoñez has been selected to drive the unique and radical Highcroft Racing Nissan DeltaWing prototype car at the prestigious Petit Le Mans endurance race, taking place this Friday and Saturday at Road Atlanta.
After being cruelly dumped out of the Le Mans 24 hours three months ago, the Highcroft Racing Nissan DeltaWing will see its return to competitive action in October, with a GT Academy driver at the wheel.
Earlier this year, the Mazda 787B was released as the first car in Autoart’s Gran Turismo 5 “stealth model” series. Today, two more stealth models are available to purchase: the Nissan GT-R GT500 and McLaren F1.
The North American GT Academy finale is about to begin on Speed TV, tonight at 10:00PM Eastern Time. As announced yesterday, GTPlanet and Nissan are hosting a live viewing party on Twitter (where Nissan is about to give away even more prizes), and I hope you’ll join us!
It’s been interesting and entertaining to watch America’s fastest Gran Turismo players make the transition from virtual to reality over the last four weeks, and now the final episode of GT Academy on Speed TV airs this Tuesday, October 18th at 10PM Eastern Time. If you haven’t been able to watch, don’t worry – all the episodes are right here.
After one of the most gruelling ‘Total 24 Hours of Spa’ in many years, the RJN Motorsport Nissan 370Z of Jordan Tresson, Alex Buncombe and Chris Ward crossed the line as the GT4 race winner! This marks the first international victory for a GT Academy winner and indeed for the production class Nissan 370Z.
Nissan is hosting a special online contest with an awesome prize: a trip for two to the 2011 New York International Auto Show! To win, you’ll need to make a video of yourself describing your favorite, most innovative features of your Nissan vehicle, and upload it here to Nissan’s Facebook page. (Note that you’ll need to be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. resident to be eligible for the contest, per Nissan’s legal constraints. Read the official rules for more.)
After more than a month of grinding away at Tsukuba, Rome Reverse, and Cape Ring, the top regional drivers in GT Academy USA have finally crossed the finish line – see here for all of the official results. I’d like to congratulate all GTPlanet readers and members who made the cut, and a special thanks to everyone using their GTP_ “tagged” PSN accounts which can be found throughout the leaderboards (nice work, GTP_potatochip for being the highest-placed tagged driver).
