Gran Turismo Sport is set to launch later this year with a variety of classes roughly based on real-world motorsports. It looks like another class might be destined for Polyphony Digital’s upcoming racer, one where how you get around the lap is more important than how fast.
Over the next several days, residents of South Korea will be able to test drive the latest version of GT Sport at the 2017 South Korea Motor Show. Open to the public from March 31 to April 9, the grandiose automotive show will host over 380 exhibitors, ranging from parts and accessories suppliers to various well-known car manufacturers.

Pikes Peak has had a bit of a checkered history with the Gran Turismo franchise. The 12-mile hill climb made its first (and only) appearance—in a condensed form—in Gran Turismo 2 and since then has remained absent from the series. In what seems to becoming a common occurrence though, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb continues to threaten a return to the franchise thanks to an article by media outlet Eurogamer and a peculiar choice of words within.
One of the largest automotive shows in the world — the Tokyo Auto Salon — is currently in the middle of its 28th exhibition. Visitors attending the show will be able to try out GT Sport which, for the first time in Japan, will be playable on the PS4 Pro and with PS VR.
Amongst all the announcements, unveilings and showcases of the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Subaru brought along its record breaking WRX STI time-attack car. Piloted by Mark Higgins, the 600 bhp car shattered the the previous record — also set by Subaru — for the time set by a car on the Isle of Man TT circuit earlier last year.

It seems Polyphony Digital is no exception, based on tweets by original GT Academy winner Lucas Ordóñez and Super GT driver Satoshi Motoyama. The 2016 PlayStation Experience held this past weekend brought us the new GT Sport 4K trailer, which confirmed a handful of new models in Polyphony’s racer. One of these was the road-going Honda NSX, the sleek successor to the legendary NSX of the 90’s. Though no racing model was spotted in the trailer, the latest find hints that one could just appear in GT Sport.
