After months of teasing and an expected release window falling through the cracks, Kunos’ Marco Massarutto has made it official: Volume 1 of the Porsche DLC is coming to Assetto Corsa on PC in just over one week’s time, on October 25th.
Kunos Simulazioni is certainly making the most of its deal with Porsche, at least in terms of pre-release hype. Just last week, Marco Massarutto teased the entire contents of the first of three Porsche packs scheduled to land in Assetto Corsa before the end of 2016. Over the weekend, he moved onto Volume 2, sharing an image of 718’s, both old and new.
Teasing. The slow reveal. Whatever you want to call it, we’d like to submit the latest image from Kunos Simulazioni’s Marco Massarutto as a textbook example. Originally shared on his personal Facebook page, the image up above shows the first seven Porsches set to land in Assetto Corsa, blurred enough to not make the exact contents obvious.
As has become apparent over the past couple of days, September is proving to be quite a busy month for Assetto Corsa. While there’s plenty of potential under the hood — as many a PC player would attest — there’s no overlooking the rocky start for the racer after making its way to consoles late last month.
Since its release on Xbox One last week, much discussion surrounds the Forza Horizon 3 demo, its stunning visuals, energetic presentation, dynamic environment … and, yes, the credits.
Things have certainly kicked into a higher gear leading up to the release of Forza Horizon 3 in less than one month’s time. Not only has the game officially gone gold, revealing a unique playable vehicle alongside PC specs and the full list of achievements, there’s even more to this increasingly apparent Horizon celebration.
When the team at Kunos Simulazioni originally announced that the Stuttgart manufacturer would be coming to Assetto Corsa later this year, it was a bombshell reveal no one expected. The partnership would result in 20 of the most iconic machines manufactured by the brand across 2 individual DLC packs. As it stands, things have taken a turn for the better.
Well now this is an odd pairing. Kunos Simulazioni has continued to tease the contents of its upcoming Porsche expansion packs for Assetto Corsa, hot on the heels of previous hints (first the 935/78, then the Carerra RSR 3.0). The latest two additions certainly cover a broad spectrum: the 2017 Porsche Panamera and the 1973 Porsche 917/30.
We’re keeping with the Porsche theme of today’s news, but switching over to a different title. The Porsche expansion in FM6 brought a handful of new models to the Forza franchise, one of which was the 718 RS 60 Spyder.
The fourth round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship happened at the Nurburgring this past weekend. Held on the Grand Prix circuit, it was a hard-fought battle between the Porsche and Audi prototypes, with the Stuttgart manufacturer clinching it at the end of 194 laps.
As has been the story for the past several weeks, Kunos Simulazioni are full steam ahead leading up to the games release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later next month. Recently the team have begun to trickle content relevant to the game that will be available on the day of the console launch, or some time thereafter.
The team at Kunos Simulazioni continue to ride the hot streak after last week’s release of the anticipated Red Pack, bringing seven all-new Italian rides to the game, in addition to the Red Bull Ring.
One of the biggest announcements from Xbox’s E3 showing was the unveiling of Forza Horizon 3 – the latest installment in Playground Games’ open-world racing series – with the game taking center stage at the keynote conference on June 14th. The showing included an official reveal trailer and a small discussion about the game’s features. However, Microsoft may have teased (accidentally or intentionally) an unannounced manufacturer for FH3 as willbsn13 has spotted on the GTPlanet forums.
It certainly seems to be a big week for Porsche fans. Hot off their Le Mans win, the German purveyor of sports cars has announced a serious tie-up with Kunos Simulazioni to bring the marque’s best and brightest to Assetto Corsa this autumn. It now appears another sim title could be seeing Porsche’s inclusion soon, judging by comments from Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell.
Talk about being taken by surprise. While Kunos Simulazioni, the brains behind the critically-acclaimed Assetto Corsa, may not have made the buzz at this year’s E3 that many were perhaps expecting, the small Italian studio, alongside publisher 505 Games, have made their mark elsewhere, having just announced a partnership no one was expecting.
Hot on the heels of the news of PC-based Apex spin-off, Turn 10 unleashed the long-awaited Porsche Expansion Pack for Forza 6 today. The pack spans six decades of the storied marque’s history, from the 1955 550A Spyder to the Le Mans-winning 2015 919 Hybrid. It also ups the track count, introducing Virginia International Raceway to the lineup with seven different layouts, as well as both night and rain variations.
Hot on the heels of an early DLC pack release, Amazon has showed Turn 10’s hand for the long-awaited return of Porsche to the Forza Motorsports series.
For the past 15 years, Porsche gaming fans haven’t had much to get excited about. The famous German marque rarely appears in video games thanks to a special, strange exclusivity contract with Electronic Arts. Not much is known about the details of the agreement (IGN went in-depth on the topic earlier this year), but to summarize: a video game can’t include a Porsche without EA’s blessing.
