Well uh, that’s unexpected. The Horizon franchise is in the news today, but it’s not 2016’s FH3 or the rumored sequel coming this year. No, it’s the original Xbox 360 game, with a big 4K update.
The Xbox One X touches down today in numerous regions. Here at GTPlanet, that meant taking Microsoft’s flagship racing game out for another drive on the new, more powerful system.
It’s been nearly 17 months since it was first shown at E3 2016, but at last, the Xbox One X is here. We unboxed the console in full last week, so those looking for a quick peek can get up close and personal.
It’s been a long time since E3 2016. That was when we first heard of the Xbox One X, though it went by the name “Project Scorpio” then. On stage, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer promised Scorpio would be the most powerful console we had ever seen.
Microsoft spilled more details regarding the Xbox One X this week at Gamescom. Among the news was a list of about 120 titles the new console will enhance. Fortunately for us, more than a couple of those happen to be racing games.
At this year’s pre-Gamescom event, Microsoft revealed the Xbox One X is now available for pre-order. Originally unveiled at E3 this past June, the One X will retail for $499 when released on November 7. Also revealed was a special edition of the upcoming console, the Project Scorpio Edition priced at $499 as well.
Microsoft is first to bat at this year’s Gamescom and you’ll be able to watch it live here. The event kicks off 12 PM on the West Coast, 3 PM on the East Coast, 8 PM in the U.K., 9 PM in Germany. For those not in the area you’ll want to tune in below to keep up to speed.
