The latest update for The Crew 2 is now available on all platforms. Dubbed ‘Blazing Shots’, the free update brings a host of new events, vanity items, and of course, new cars to roam the open world in.
Announced on the official site, the eagle-eyed will be quick to notice something a bit unusual about the latest content drop. There’s four brand-new cars available to players and while all are rare and desirable, one is something of a unicorn:
- Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse 2016
- Porsche Carrera GT 2003
- Citroen GT by Citroen 2008
- Ferrari 599XX EVO 2011
The Citroen GT by Citroen stands out somewhat. It’s the collaborative brainchild of the French automaker and Polyphony Digital, and cited by PD studio boss Kazunori Yamauchi as the spark for Gran Turismo’s Vision GT project. The hydrogen-powered concept car made its then-exclusive debut in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
Since then, Gran Turismo has been the GT’s only traditional gaming home, with only appearances in the discontinued Facebook game Car Town and mobile title Asphalt 8: Airborne aside. The car’s appearance now in The Crew 2, 11 years after its debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and Prologue’s Spec II update, is highly noteworthy.
While the Bugatti is available to all right now, you may have to wait for the other three cars. The Elite Bundle 3 containing the Porsche, Citroen, and Ferrari is now available to Season Pass holders, but the general release for those without the season pass comes in December.
Ubisoft is promising another eight cars arriving in a number of drops, although it’s keeping most of those to itself right now. The only ones it’s revealed are a Street Race version of the Mazda RX-8 which will arrive in the shop on December 4, and the Ghost Recon Edition Ford F-150 Raptor Rally Raid race truck on November 27.
With the update also comes the introduction of underglows that will be available from the get-go. That, in addition to several new tires and tire smoke effects, add a bit of flair to the game. The team at Ubisoft promise to roll out new vanity items on a weekly basis as well.
That’s to say nothing of the events players will find themselves taking part in, ranging from new Live Summit Events, to 17 new race events over the next couple of months as well. If that weren’t enough already, there’s new themed weeks as well, with Ghost Road kicking things off with that F-150 Raptor. The event goes live in two weeks’ time on November 27.
