Time Extend Podcast: Episode 15 – Keep Rockin’ Baby

Sure, we all love our growly and occasionally whiny engine noises. But what good is a long drive without the right tunes? To that end, this week Time Extend welcomes Andrew Elmore, musician and artist behind Real Racing Roots 2019 — a collection of songs inspired by cult-classic PlayStation racer R4: Ridge Racer Type 4.

Andrew and I dive deep into his motivation behind the record as well as the process of developing it, and deconstruct the witchcraft Namco’s Sound Team employed to produce the title’s legendary original score. It’s an episode that starts by paying homage to the most artistically inspiring achievements of the racing genre, yet somehow ends with an abridged primer on Namco’s perplexing driving controllers, the NeGcon and Jogcon. (A subject we will assuredly return to, one day.)

Time Extend is conveniently available wherever fine podcasts are found, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, Soundcloud, and Stitcher. We encourage you to follow us on Twitter @time_extend and share your thoughts on the show right here on GTPlanet’s forums. Additionally, Real Racing Roots 2019 is available now on Bandcamp and streaming on Spotify and Apple Music, among other platforms. Go check it out — it’s really awesome!
