Last month we gave you the first sneak peek at the upcoming season of Top Gear. Now, a new teaser trailer posted to YouTube gives us a more in-depth look at Series 25.
There’s all the hijinks you expect from the show, but there’s also a plethora of interesting vehicles shown in the one minute clip.
One of the standouts is the new Camaro ZL1. With 650 rampaging stallions from a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, it’s a monster of a car. With a Ring time of 7:29.6, seeing how it fares around another track is sure to be a treat.
Another car we’re looking forward to is the McLaren 720S. Using a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 turning out 710hp, the latest McLaren supercar is sure to be exciting. It also appears that Chris Harris figured out the Variable Drift Mode as well since there are gratuitous shots of the 720S smoking and sideways.
High-performance cars aren’t the only thing on the menu this series either. Matt LeBlanc seemingly takes a rather unorthodox test drive of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. While bombing through a field, LeBlanc quips “who says we don’t do serious car reviews?”
We all say that, Matt. But that’s what makes Top Gear great.
Venturing further into the teaser we also see a potential cheap car challenge with Rolls Royce and Bentley models. It’s calamity as usual though when LeBlanc’s Rolls breaks down and Rory Reid has a run in with a fruit stand.
International adventures are on tap as well. Besides the road trip through the American Southwest, it also looks like Harris ventures to Japan. There he’ll test the Honda Civic Type R and the Lexus LC500. Weirdly, LeBlanc also plays a sumo wrestler’s belly like a bongo.
Also, during the trip out to the Western US, it looks like the trio will compete in some sort of demolition race. Going by the “Young Kia” billboard trackside, this is undoubtedly Utah and probably Rocky Mountain Raceway.
Finally, it wouldn’t be Top Gear without some incredibly strange cars.
It looks like Harris gets a ride in a dune buggy turned paraglider, which is good for a few laughs for sure.
We also get a brief look at LeBlanc and Reid tearing up the countryside in the Russian made Sherp ATV. With 44hp it may not seem like much of a vehicle, but it can go anywhere. Oh, and did we mention? It’s also amphibious.
No release date was given for the latest series. However, expect it sometime in the spring, presumably after The Grand Tour wraps up.
