OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
this makes FLOPZA3 look like a ps2 game
@Razor and everyone,
My hypothesis about the programming difficulty of incorporating skidmarks doesn’t mean i would not want skidmarks myself. Being with the series since its birth on 1997, I have seen it mature and become more realistic. I think though, that the whole engine needed that rebuilding to be that state-of-the-art simulation I was always dreaming of.. I think that cars have too much grip, and are very forgiving, that should change. For example, I own a C4 VTS and the way that car drives in GT5P is very realistic indeed in terms of speed/understeering/cornering , but when it loses it’s balance, the weight shifting just ain’t right. In real life, If you just violently change direction 2 times on a straight line, you’re off. In the game, you just change direction, no sweat. That should change.I am obsessed with realism in the game, I just am pessimistic about the skidmarks because i believe they are difficult to include, not that I do not want them. BUT, I obviously prefer the programming time/cost/power would be spent in making handling and weight shifting more realistic instead of spending it for the skidmarks (that’s what “pointless” refers to).
Anyway, I do not beleive that Kaz would balance between arcade and simulation, he would NEVER do such a thing. He will just include a standars mode, pretty much like in GT5P and when you enter professional mode, you will see what 5 years of physics development brought you.He stated that the car will be easier to drive (just “driving” is not difficult, is it?) BUT when you push it or unbalance it, it will feel much more realistic. Isn’t this what we all have waited for?
And there is no point to accuse the “arcade noobs” of “spoiling” GT5, because I do not beleive they will affect the realism of our beloved game, as they will be happy with the standard physics..
P.S. This comment section has become a thread lol..
P.S.2 Why does someone has to be aggresive to people to make their point? I think that the admins should do sth about comment language, we are civilized people here not 5 year old kids.
P.S.3 @maxpontiac : totally agree with you
I would very much like to drive the real 86, preferably with panda white paint scheme ;)
@maxpontiac, thanks for the support. I agree that there is no point in me trying to get my point across because it will the equivalent of banging my head against a brick wall. I do agree with your point of the mods.
Anyway onto better things to share and discuss, last night i was at my cousin brother’s digs and he has got himself a 46″ samsung LED 1080p panel and we loaded up GT5P. OH MY GOD!!! the car models were out of this world (I have been using a Standard DEf TV and I don’t yet have the funds to invest into a high end 1080p panel well not like my mate has) but the reaction got my cousin laughing has ass off. Quote “the sound you made, made you sound like jeremy clarkson on top gear when he saw car the lamborghini reventon i.e. car porn!!!”
I reckon that I am gonna cream my pants when the game is released here in the UK.
Peace out.

Thanks. I don’t mind discussing topics with posters who maintain civility with me, or explain their belief system. It’s unfortunate that some posters feel they must resort to internet smack talk to get their point across. This thread is a perfect example of that very thing. I understand that maturity (or lack there of) has alot to do with it, but I just wish the MODS here would enforce rules in the comment section as well. In my opinion, if it’s off-topic, it doesn’t belong, and if insults are thrown out, the post needs to be deleted.
Anyways, I got sidetracked, but as far as GT5 is concerned, the game is several months away from completion. Why don’t we wait and see what lies in store for us instead of all mindless complaining? Discussing is one thing, but posting the same thing over and over again is pointless.
edit: weather and days-night circle are also required!
In my opinion they should have a look over to simbin! Haven’t played GTR 2 for a long time but i think it had all what you need, except of that nice graphics and that many cars!
Things i was missing in Prologue, that have to implemented in the final game:
SKIDMARKS, better engine-sound (misfire-sound/flames), DAMAGE
and when driving with dfp, which has about 900° i think, i would be nice that the driving wheel in cockpit view turns the same °. I think this would increase the feeling of beeing right in the middle of it.
But most important: SKIDMARKS and this ENGINE-THING!
Greetz, Fritz
warden> we want SIMULATION. You, typical arcade boy, don’t want it and that is no surprise. And because of such arcade-noobs like you, we don’t get full simulation (Kaz told himself that he has to balance between arcade and simulation in order to satisfy such noob-arcaders like you!).
8@No$> what is pointless for YOU (not petrolhead) is NOT pointless for others. Repeat it untill you get it.
@8@NO$ P.S. Is it possible that turn10 pays people to spoil GT’s fame in the GTplanet forums? Oh c’mon !!! :P I am not in anyways paid by turn 10 personally i despise their attitude towards gran turismo and and as much as i like forza3 i may consider not getting their game because of their arrogant ways. I just like to bring up the issue of skidmarks because it is something that makes my game a little bit more dynamic.
Now people talking about YLOD, I really am getting this conspiracy theory feeling that people are paid just to troll popular PS3 forums whining and spreading lies with the hope that they will defect to some other console (pun intended).
Can’t we have these random whines/whiners moved to their own threads elsewhere on the forum?
If you guys want skidmarks look in your moms dirty panties
Jesus Christ !! You guys are still talking about skidmarks !!! We are expecting the greatest racing game of all time (i am so sure about that) and you complain about something pointless. Well at least with little significance. REAL, GT-level skidmarks of 16 cars in a long track that stay there for a lot of laps while at the same time cover each other in real time and with the level of graphic detail appearing in game PLUS 60 fps is almost impossible with the PS3’s CPU-GPU power and RAM amount. And just because I believe that KY would not settle with simplified, pre rendered skid marks, nor with standard black lines that faint according to the amount of wheel spin / cornering speed, I think we will never see them in the game.
And I know that when you finally get to play this game, the last thing you will think will be that. So stop complaining !!
P.S. Is it possible that turn10 pays people to spoil GT’s fame in the GTplanet forums? Oh c’mon !!! :P
@maxpontiac. Thanks for acknowledging my view on skidmarks, and the replays. I appreciate your style of maturity in understanding my feelings on the subject of skidmarks. People like you make it worthwhile to post on forums without getting ‘beaten up’ figuratively speaking.
At the end of the day my opinion is just one of many, many thousands and having looked at the level of detail that Kaz Yam has taken, I will forgive him (give or take a grudge or 2 for not putting in skidmarks!!) if the end product blows away all other competitors in terms of detail, perfection, enjoyment, making my jaw drop visually and making me feel that the wait was worthit.
Peace out.
that is a beautiful car. ill probably use that lots
People laughing at us … who cares. lol
SKID SKID SKID SKID…
Cmon, if skidmarks make you that horny look in ur pants.
Just kidding , gettiing the point everybody says, but now the pro-skidmarkes need to see our point. It would be cool to have skidmarks, but really not at all essential to the game. we all played at least 4 Gt’s and i never thought if only there be skidmarks. So come on
skidmarks kidmarks shitmarks.
who gives a shit? i want weather and day and night. fuck skidmarks. if you want skidmarks go play need for speed shit
I think skidmarks take to much ps3 power if you have dynamic skidmarks , skidmarks is my last concern damage weather 1080p first if ther is room for more ok
Razor –
As I stated in an earlier post, we don’t know why the skidmarks are not there. Kaz and his associates at PD are well known for their perfection. I for one will give them the benefit of doubt. Would I like to see them there? Sure. I just don’t see them as a necessary graphical feature.
oppylocky –
It’s obvious you are passionate about the skidmarks, and I respect that. I just feel it’s something that only folks who are looking for it will notice if the skidmarks are there or not. I am not knocking that what so ever, but it’s obvious, it is important to some. Perhaps if the suggestion for skidmarks was done in a more constructive manner?? If it has, you are at PD’s mercy.
To me, I see full exterior customization as the feature the GT series needs the most. It’s coming (as per Kaz), so I am content in that matter. Even if it’s not perfect, I will be happy.
I hear you. I love to watch replays on Gran Turismo. I can’t wait to see what comes our way in GT5!!
OH yes skid marks. You need skid marks to enjoy a game. Whoop dee do. The majority of the time you’re moving forward and can’t even see the skid marks you left behind until you come across the corner again. By that time you probably don’t even care anymore. Visual guide to know braking point etc? There are already static faint skid line textures on the road, just not dynamic ones.
WOW stil crazy sick hyped fanieboys always about skid skid skidiemarks
sorry i meant to type D1 drifters at silverstone in 2005 BTW I met mr kazama, FIA GT in 2006.
Peace out.
I have been to the d1 drifters in 2005, F1 races/testing at silverston e back in 2005,2007 FIA GT 200 and the britcar 24hr endurance 2005/2006 and the amount of times that i saw skidmarks coming from wheelspins and crashes is what made the race enjoyable. seeing a car leave turns of rubber just looked so awesome. I do appreciate that it is could possibly be a massive consumption of computing power but I SO WISH that PD will employ that feature. I enjoy motorsports and to me GT5 having skidmarks would make the game a billion times much more enjoyable because to me it would make the game perfect.
As to the subject of replays, no game comes close to showing the dynamicism of replays that the GT game has given me. I have sat through countless hours of watching replays while doing the ironing or just chilling out. I remember GT3 and the cool MTV style replays and remember how i would actually cry tears of joy seeing the almost photorealistic replay shots/angles. Magical days they were, but in his day and age I would expect skidmarks but i have said that before.
@maxpontiac “1 – There are plenty of other indicators out there for the player to realise that the breaking point was overshot.”
I sometimes would rather use skidmarks as a reference point for braking instead of metre markers or rather looking ahead for the tyremarks would prepare me better than just using the other reference points.
I suppose what I am trying to get across is that GT would be the most perfect game for me if they implemented skidmarks and imagine being able to write my name in a F1 car. BTW, anyone remember the scene in tokyo drift where han is doing donuts around the 2 chicks in there car and all you could see were perfect circles being created by Hans RX7. See my point people?
Peace out.
maxpontiac> you say “Personally, I want the graphics at the highest level in both the cars and the track.” SKIDMARKS are part of graphics. Period. And if PD goes to extreme levels of detail, they must include them. They are not very important, as was already mentioned 100 times, but from all things that could be added (not counting things that already will be – damage and changing weather/night), skidmarks are on top of the list.
i am so so sorry, but what the f… are skidmarks?
oppylocky —
Denial has nothing to do with it. It’s all about prioritizing the experience of GT5. Skidmarks will not add to gameplay. Having 16 cars on track, however, will.
1 – There are plenty of other indicators out there for the player to realise that the breaking point was overshot.
2 – A viable point. With so few cars on the track, it seems it would be possible.
3 – Opinion. I do not need to see skidmarks for enjoyment. You do. Who is right? Nobody.
4 – Excellent point. But again, GT has always been a trade off of sorts, some of the features are realistic and mirror real life, while the others don’t.
5 – Agreed. But in all reality, a problem could persist that skid marks can only be done if something else is compromised.
6 – Opinion. Stating a replay lacks soul is purely from your point of view, and obviously not mine. To me, 8 cars on a track looks “soulless”.
Why does it bother you when it comes to what other people think? If GT5 users get laughed at over a lack of skid marks, I suggest the folks laughing grow up. GT5 is still a game, and all games have shortcomings. GT5, in my opinion represents the fewest around.
My only issue with people who complain, is sometimes the posts they write seem to forget that GT5 is still in development. Perhaps PD shouldn’t share these screens, people are way to spoiled.
Skidmarks are basically damage, something PD is new to. So skidmarks are probably still under development. The video of the toyota was made before gamescon.
We’ve already got to wait til March to get our hands on because people bitched and moaned about the damage not being realistic, if it gets put back beyond that so they can put in f’cking skidmarks to keep probably the same bunch of whingers happy I won’t be too pleased!!!
Priorities people… and I doubt skidmarks will be one of PDs

a friend of mine, had the same “yellow light problem”, and he solved it by following the steps in this video :

this “yellow light problem” has nothing to do with firmware 3.0, is a CPU overheating problem that occurs because the “quality” of the silicone grease placed between the CPU and heatsink, and only occurs in some 60gb models.
im just happy to get the cars and tracks as is……whoever wants skidmarks etc must be willing to wait another 6months after the release date just to get there hands on what is the best racing simulator going….so what if forza has skidmarks, they only put them in to say “we’re better than PD” but who gives a damn coz i know i dont.
long live GT

I love the constant complaints about this game even though its so unjust lol why can some of you not accept natural evolution of games and gaming technology, some things might just be unachieveable at this point in time, but if youre a fan of racing games you will applaud the evolution in the early 1990’s nigel mansells world championship racing was the pinnacle for me, then playstation and sega saturn arrived and we had rigde racer and daytona and racing games continued to evolve Vrally and Colin Mcrae Rally games were introduced then GT1 was released and we were all blown away at the ‘realism’ but they have continued to evolve with the release of PC based games and console games ala Forza and now GT5. reality can never be fully simulated but the efforts to do it reap great rewards for us enjoy the evolution.
In some shots the driver is wearing helmet and in others, he isn’t. I think in final version of GT5 we will have some type of tracks not to race, but only for “pleasure driving”. These tracks could be as roads and across fields, etc. Like in the real life, in a boring weekend, you take your car and go out for driving only for leisure! Could be this?
Skidmarks is my last last wory first compleet the game basic grapix damage weather 1080p if ther is room for power then ok with skidmarks
I disagree with all those that say ‘skidmarks are not so important’ Are you guys living in denial. The point of having skidmarks is..
1 – so that you know if you have overshot a braking point.
2 – When drifting you it adds to the visual enjoyment.
3 – During the replays you can use those skidmarks to enjoy the replay and/or use them for reference points.
4 – In the real world skidmarks exist so why can’t PD incorporate.
5 – The PS3 is powerful enough to do it.
6 – The replays will look soulless if they do not add in skidmarks.
Why on earth can’t Polyphony add them in. I am not living in 1997 and I expect the game to have them because it seems that all other games have been adding in skidmarks for time which i have mentioned before. Finally we PS3/GT fans are going to get laughed at if GT5 doesn’t have them. How many times have you watched a motorsports race and prior to a crash were able to tell the way in which the accident occured and the tyremarks were visual clues. I love Gran Turismo to death but no tyre marks? this will not give me confidence to say 1005 that ‘this is the real driving simulator” it will to a point but not 100%. So irrespective to how many people will state ‘big deal no skidmarks’ to me it is a hell of a big deal. Oh and at least with skidmarks at least I will be able to tell when oppylocky (opposite lock) took place!
Peace out.
Look closely at the first picture, the drivers helmet visor is up.
So many people complaining over the skidmarks. Why? Is that important for you? Are you actually going to pause the game, and inspect the marks on the track? Or is just another case of certain individuals complaining for complaining’s sake?
The game is still several months from release, and yet you still find one small issue in these beautiful screenshots?
My guess is, that someone from PD vists this site to browse feedback, ideas, etc.. In all likelihood, reactions found here contributed to the very delay some posters whine about.
Personally, I want the graphics at the highest level in both the cars and the track. I also love how GT5 will be the only (yes, only) console racing sim to feature 16 cars on the track. If all of this comes at the cost of black tire marks on the track, so be it. I’ll be to busy racing my car, tuning it, and appreciating what it is in front of me to care.
So, please, take a look (or re-watch) the video of the SLS AMG and pause the video when they show the SLS being modeled (constructed). That should give you the idea of how much goes into one car, let alone 900 of them. Who know what lies ahead of us in GT Auto once GT5 is released?
Skidmarks?
Seriously??
i don’t understand why i see so many people saying that the reason there’s no skidmarks is cause the engine is old? how many times have i read from PD themselves that they tossed everything from past games and started fresh with gt5’s engine? c’mon you really think they just gradually added things to a 13 year old engine? give me a break.
Reverse Lights… I just dont get it.
These screenshots are beautiful, but it still needs more smoke, skidmarks & reverse lights.
I took my console to service and they told me that 50% are chances to they can fix that problem. If they can fix that I”ll must buy new console, so so disappointed… I NEWER have problem with ps1 and ps2.
I forget to say that this “yellow light problem” has nothing to do with firmware 3.0, is a CPU overheating problem that occurs because the “quality” of the silicone grease placed between the CPU and heatsink, and only occurs in some 60gb models.

Yes i would lov e to see skids marks but not that big of a deal….BUT they can make the Smoke & dirt look alot better so that it interfares with the driver behind you …i would think that would make them wanna get past you ..I know from experience my brother it the king of that shit … we race the Nurburgring & la Sarthe alot and he will ride behind me until the very end( good tactic but if i could kick some smoke or dirt in his eye that would throw him off that would make him push to get in front and make the racing more intense…(but that my opinion.
I think people are so bored of waiting the have to try hard to find and moan at somthing
Is that a Sprinter I see in the background? (of the main pic)
And neem, haven’t you read anything that has been posted here ? They are writing the game from scratch.
WTF? Pushing the cpu to the limit ?
There isn’t any game out there, and probably never will be, that would stress the cell to it’s limits. It’s a well known fact that the ps3 is bottlenecked by the RSX, which sucks donkey nuts.
0.5 % of the ps3 get this problem so ur really unlucky
“On behalf of “thousands of Sony PS3 video game owners who downloaded a system software update required by Sony [and] found that the update caused their PS3 units to malfunction and actually damaged the hardware on many units”, a Florida man filed a class action lawsuit against Sony.
The aforementioned software update refers to Playstation 3’s Firmware Update 3.0 which was released in early September. A few days after the update was released Sony acknowledged the problems it caused and promised a quick resolution. The company then released another firmware update that was supposed to fix those issues.
The plaintiff claims that the newer update didn’t fix most of the issues, and actually caused further problems with the console’s Blu-ray drive.
The class action lawsuit accuses SCEA of breach of implied warranty, negligence, negligent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, and other counts. The suit is seeking restitution and damages in an amount to be decided at trial, as well as legal fees”

Razor: Basically, I keep re-writing this reply because I have so much to say and I don’t want to bore you, so I’ll just give you three main points:
– Just because every other game has skidmarks doesn’t mean it’s a number one priority, it would just be a nice thing to have. I can understand damage delaying the release of the game, however I can’t understand a possible delay to add skidmarks, no matter how slight.
– I’m sorry but I don’t believe for a second you’d wait all these years for GT5 only to finish all the races once, buy the cars you like then stop playing it simply because it doesn’t have skidmarks. Maybe that’s exactly what you’ll do, but I personally can’t understand that mindset.
– We don’t know how easy or how difficult it is to include skidmarks in a game. First of all, GT5 most likely pushes the PS3’s processor already, in fact common consensus is that it does, so having 16 cars leaving skidmarks will push it further. Then there’s the fact that GT5’s engine is most likely the result of constant revisions and updates to GT1’s engine, since that particular game took five years to develop and since then (until now) there hasn’t been a development time that long, suggesting that it hasn’t ever been fully built from scratch. This time round, my guess would be that the time has been spent developing online modes, modeling the interiors for almost 1,000 cars and lets not forget GT5P and GTPSP. My point being, GT5’s engine has very old roots and was never designed to include skidmarks, so adding them to an existing engine that is THAT old is most likely a lot more difficult than adding them to a brand new engine built from scratch.
Anyway, we still don’t know if the final build will have skidmarks or not, so this is a pretty moot conversation, all I know is it won’t make a bit of difference to me and many other people either way, and no one wants the game to be delayed.
@aleksandar SRB:
It’a a problem of the hardware due to the newst update. Kind like the rod on xbox. Ur Ps3 is broken. SORRY
Hope you have warrenty, maybe sony is nice and repairs it because it comes from their update (google it). I also have the 60gb version and that one broken is not cool. That’s why I stopped playing till a new update comes out. 60 Gb version is too precious .
Again sry for you
@aleksandar SRB:
I know that doesn’t have anything with your problem, but are you maybe from Serbia (noticed in your name)?
Ugly car.
Please help???? My ps3 die when I turn on ps3 green light after few second become yellow and then become red flashing light. What to do???? I played GT5 Prologue when console crashed.
Sorry for my english I got 60 GB model.
S3 Racer> Where did you see someone asking for skidmarks with forza-crap-physics instead of GT5 without skidmarks but with good simulation? We are talking about feature that could be added to GT5 and not exchanged with something. Why do you relate skidmarks with Forza? I am thinking about skidmarks like in rFactor or GPL.That kind of level (or better). And read again about system requirements for games with good skidmarks.PS3 is 100times faster.
neem> skidmarks nowadays is the standart of racing game. All other game creators include them, so this probably isn’t so unimportant then, is it? Its not do-or-die (or in other words buy-or-not) thing, and we WILL buy GT5 without it, but this feature would satisfy lots of fans and extend GT5 playability, especially when you will finish all events and start ‘fooling’ around with different cars, then watching those beautifull replays and so on. And if we waited 5years, we can definitely wait couple more months if needed, to have this feature. Although i don’t think PD needs so much time for it, because in 2 months they made current damage model and that is more complex than sidmarks.
razor read again. Sure skidmarks would be great.
But my conclusion was that it is better having a game that is like gt even if skidmarks are missing rather than have a game like nfs or co with skidmarks damage tuning, decals,…. but crap physics and no good implement codecs for superior wheels.
An you can’t compare pc sim racing games to ps3 hole different system (simbin graphs are like 2k) even if it’s a really good game. Wanna play GTR in full specs with graphics like in gt (doesn’t exist yet) you would need a rig that most people can’t afford.
And sorry I’m not a arcarde racer, I race in real life and did the nür in under 10min in real life, so suck it
I will play this game. The Forza guys have fun now with her game and we still waiting. Now it is time for more infos and details of GT5 -.-
Nice car can wait to drive!!!!! :))))
Zenith: I didn’t mean to come across all fanboy, but it does annoy me that it seems people will never be happy. People moaned about the fact that there’s no damage, night races and weather, but we’ve seen damage in the GamesCom demo, a couple of videos have shown lighting other than daylight and weather has been mentioned in interviews, so are skidmarks really as important as everyone is saying or is it just something else to complain about?
As you said, real skidmarks aren’t huge black lines, so given the the extra development time this would require and the possibility of the game being delayed more because of it, is it really worth it? I mean, given that you don’t drive around looking at the track, would you really actually notice? This is a serious point, though, I mean you obviously won’t see your own, and given that the tracks are pre-skidmarked anyway, in combination with tyre smoke if you see another racer doing something that would leave skidmarks, unless they’re unrealistically dark in comparison to the marks that already exist, would you notice them actually leave a skidmark?
Maybe if the tracks ‘rubbered in’ and the racing line became stickier and more grippy, or if you went off the line your tyres picked up marbles of discarded rubber and you lost grip, an important factor in Formula One racing at least, then maybe I’d be more for it but as it is I just don’t think it’s worth a possible delay when you probably won’t notice it, and its certainly not such a big feature as to make GT5 “Ambitious but rubbish”!
S3Racer> if you are a noob_arcade_like “racer”, and you are satisfied with plastic surface graphics – you just be quiet and don’t say anything. But there are people who like going to perfection (C) Kaz and real skidmarks is the only thing that was missing from previous GT games (we got other two – cockpit view and damage). Skidmarks ARE visible from cockpit, they are visible when you see other cars in front of you, and they are visbile watching replays. If you don’t care about skidmarks, you don’t care about graphics. PD is trying to make amazing graphics and they dedicate most of their resources to it, but they miss out one very important graphic element on the asphalt? It ruins complete package. Skidmarks are usefull when you watch other opponents and you can see if they waste they tyre life or not, they are also usefull to see places where wheelspin (which equalls to lost time) appear mostly on certain places on the track, and they give visual satisfaction when watching drifting replays or other amazing battles. And It was already mentioned that 10year old PC game with requirements of 128mb ram and 16mb video-ram could give us real skidmarks (Grand Prix Legends). And actually its not so important for skidmarks to affect track grip levels.Visual information is more than enough. And no, i am not forza fan, never was and probably won’t be. But i play PC racing simulation games and I see how much GT is missing in this department.
I would like to see the new lexus LF-A in GT5 .
I jizz in my pants if night racing will look like in this pictures. Beautiful! Also the port seems like an interesting setting. Let’s see if this will make it into the final game or if this is all CGI.
tahnx 4 a nother update gtplanet! well it looks like the grahics is geting even better then in prlouge(5) like many here said skid marks woud be nice and hopefully some customization to woub be so sweeet!
bout when it,s come to the end i know polphony will have a excellent SIMracer! keep up the good work =)
Stop complaining babies.
As said if u drive in cockpit view or bumper view you will never see your skidmarks. so it’s not necessary for realistic driving. Make a differnece between realistic driving, and realistic ideas.
implemting skitmarks is huge for physics, cause grip changes for a spot that is 5 cm wide. and there are skitmarks on the circuits since the first gt’s. Just that they are preimplemented, as it also happend in real life ( hmmm realistic no!???)
Look a moment at other wanna be sim games like shift. they thought and included a lot of elements ( need to be said), but these were implemented poorly. (reflections on cars, physics,…). you can not developp a game in just a year and hoping competing with gt which takes takes like 10 times the developement ( time * people).
So I want a game that gives me a hard cockpit when driving because it feels realistic and not because it looks like a realistic game.
And yes why the f*** come bothering us with ur complains about gt and praising about your f*****g fabolous forza. So play forza and don’t come here. F-fanboy
Gt stop hidding, come out….
At first I thought this was a promo video so it wasn’t a true indication of what we could see in GT5 but I guess PD wouldn’t go to the effort of making a track just for this video so I’m guessing it will appear somewhere in GT5.
Personally I would like skidmarks in as that is always an area of GT that I feel could be improved which is the interaction between the car and the track. The physics are great but when you spin or slide or lock wheels the relationship between the track and car feels a bit dead. But I understand that each car has 4 wheels and there are 16 cars and if you lock wheels you could get flat spots so there is potentially lots to think about. I just hope it was considered, it seems we are all obsessed with the cars looking beatiful but without everything associated with them looking real too you will always feel like you are playing a game.
Anyway I hope the WRC let’s us make marks on mud etc if it’s just 1 car on screen point to point racing.
We definitelly need better smoke and SKIDMARKS. Polyphony – read this.
I haven’t seen this GT5 video posted on this site:

I like the pic with the Trueno (AE86) drifting behind.
If this game doesn’t have skid marks the world will implode. Don’t PD know this? WHY OH WHY wont they listen to our stupid whining?
6th row in the middle, grand valley?
these r really awesome! love to know what the extra tracks are…cos the environment looks great!
I’m never going to buy FORZA, don’t like it.
Bought all the previous GT’s including the prologue’s, the geneva concept thingy and even tourist trophy.
But in my feel, the real driving simulator needs skidmarks…
It’s an opinion, but it would give that extra bit of realism.
Will I buy it if it doesn’t have them? Yes
Why? because the physics model of gran turismo is superb, no other game captures the difference between cars better, it’s just incredible. because the graphics are unlike ever seen before, they are incredible. because….
I love the game you guys, and I am not being payed by turn10 or microsoft to piss on this game (I wish)
The longest and best track in the world will be in gt5 ??
http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/games/g/gran-turismo-5/gt5-proof-top-gear-s-greatest-driving-road-is-in-$1334595.htm
So has anyone figured out that country/region that winding road track is ini?
And is that boat/ship hangar bay a new drag strip? ;)
For lackadaisical Tokyo Motor Show it is. opened “press day” on today. as
http://gigazine.net/index.php?/news/comments/20091021_gt_tms/
(Japanese. but you’ ll got a tone)
on playable GT5 TMS Edition (including FT-86, SLS, 458) and campaigned “100 cars to your PSP-GT”.
Cooooool.
But the car’s appearance doesn’t imprezz me as much as it does for other people ;)
I don’t like the vehicles that look too much like fish or a face lol.
GT5 will rock!
@rofajole – It’s not just regular camber. A car set up to have zero camber will actually gain camber (positive on one side, negative on the other) when the wheels turn. Jump in a real car, which should have no camber, turn the wheels full lock one direction, and you’ll see it.
@neem
don’t fanboy man, people have legitamate arguements.
Personally I’d like to have skid marks, but not the black lines drawn with marker that appear any time a car turns or accelerates like in NFS or forza. People should watch a video of cars sliding, the lines are very faint
@Skinfaxi
Yes that, I’m not very good about cars, but that’s what I mean as you mention. It’s a very nice small feature though.
Yes it has been seen before, at least i think we are all talking about the same stuff. Isn’t that just basic camber being shown on the car? That was in all GT’s as long as you change the camber.
It’s not bent, it’s normal suspension geometry between the control arms, tie rods, etc.
But yes, it hasn’t been in GT before.
Why do I get the impression there are a million monkeys paid (or bribed) by Microsoft to jump on forums all over the world and bash GT.
All of this feature comparing is a moot point when you give a real driver a wheel and let them drive in the game and ask them did it feel realistic?
If the answer is no on your favourite game then it’s time to jump on some forum and start talking about the number of polygons, the physics calculations per second, roll over, damage, car painting, community, skid marks, blah blah blah blah blah
Seriously though, do the reverse lights work yet?
yeah i can live without skidmarks, as long as there’s real reflections in the mirrors including dust + smoke.
Bram87: “It’s as always, ambitious but rubbish”, yeah, because all the development work has been invalidated by the fact that they have left out something you won’t even see 99% of the time, hasn’t it?
Oppylocky: “What the hell are PD/KY thinking?” They’re probably thinking “bloody hell, this is one amazing product, shame we couldn’t delay the release date to include skidmarks but I guess you have to draw the line somewhere”.
“Every other racing game does it so why the fuck can’t GT do it?”, Probably because, as 8@No$ pointed out, it’ll require processor power, and the processor is already being pushed as it is. Show me one other racing game with visuals like GT’s, 16 cars on track AND skid marks.
@jose Yes the posted picture. I’m talking about the the wheel / suspension bent while drifting. I haven’t seen those before in any GT, even GT5 prologue.
Here what I’m talking about.
http://inish.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/images/D01_3080.jpg
Look at the front wheel.
8@No$ Says:
I agree. Skidmark racers? Go buy another game. I could give a great ____ about skid marks. “oh man look at this photo rea.. Wait.. no skidmarks??? RETURN!”Neat to look at, but its more of the fluff that Tokyo Drift/car explosion/shogun wing kit fans want, not drivers.
Much like Rewind, I want no part of it.
Shut up about skidmarks damn Kids. Gt doesn’t need it. Why don’t you try to make your own copycat like Forza. Then you can say, “well, GT never had skidmarks so I decided to make my own game”. HAHAHA.
Scratch that, I meant spiritual follower of the AE86
It’s not replacing the Celica. The Celica was FWD. This is more or a spiritual predecessor to the AE86.
100% agree with 8@No$ =)
i thought exactly about the same thing…
Theres nothing really special with this car, its just the replacement for the celica
Sweet as.
@ralph do you mean on the post pic? isnt it supposed to turn a bit to the side when you turn?
Skidmarks are not so important, but they could be there anyway.. It should be kind of difficult to incorporate them though, because if KY wanted to do it, he would have wanted to do it right. By “right” I mean that they would stay for the whole duration of the race on the track and never dissapear and also that they should be ultra-realistic and actually real-time marks not just a black brush paint on the road neither a bunch of pre-rendered patterns. If I was to have something like that, I prefer to have nothing at all. And if they want to make it real it would require much time, a stand-alone model only for creating the marks, and lots of computing power, and time. When you calculate it, multiply it by 16 (the max no. of cars and again by lets say 10 (laps) so imagine how much computing power it would consume. I prefer PD to consume the above in something more important than the skidmarks.
That car is great! I want GT5 now!
…water was on one (or more) main screen scene in GT5P. Something like after raining, and also there was one scene with snow ;)
Interesting that in some shots the driver is in full racing wear, and in others he’s not.
Wonder if we get a little avatar, and as we progress further through the game he/she slowly gets kitted out in more racing gear :)
Also the light’s on that car seem very Impreza to me, guess that was Subaru’s design dept.’s work :)
And whats the mountain road? looks awesome.
@Driver
That menu screen is in prologue. I never noticed the water. Was the water there it there in prologue???
Look at the picture with the interior view….IS THAT NIGHT RACING I SEE???
from what iam seeing i think we might get weather changes
some of the screenshots are taken during dawn and dusk and some at midday if u look closely
the trailer one, and the 4th and 5th pic if u look u can see orangish unlike the other pics where weather is perfect in my opinion this all but confirms the weather effect we been asking for :)
Agreed Zenith 100%
Gt5 needs more cars like this. Replace a few of the 30 Nissan skylines with some concept cars
Anyone here notice the FT-86 wheel bent while drifting?
I think ther is weather rain if you look at this pic on the right side ther water on the ground and reflection http://www.gtpla.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/toyota-ft-86-gt5-8.jpg
Bram87, I absolutely agree with you. Totally 100% with on you on that. Every other racing game does it so why the fuck can’t GT do it? I am so looking forward to getting GT5 but no skidmarks? What the hell are PD/KY thinking? everything is absolutely majestic about GT5 but no skidmarks? Finally I would be able to say with conviction that the game is now realisitic.
i can´t wait for 2010
When are there finally gonna be skidmarks on the road…
How hard can it be?
It’s as always, ambitious but rubbish
What about that exclusive interview?
