Toyota revealed their tiny new Toyota S-FR concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show yesterday, and simultaneously showcased the vehicle in what appears to be a special Gran Turismo 6 demo. As confirmed by Polyphony Digital’s Japanese PitStop blog, the little car will be coming to “the Gran Turismo series” in the future.

It’s easy to see why Toyota is eager to get the S-FR into video games. Designed as a lightweight, front-engined, rear-wheel-drive car with intentions to make “a whole new generation fall in love with driving”, it’s a car they expect many new drivers will first be exposed to in a virtual environment.

Although it’s not a Vision GT dream car, it is a clear indication that manufacturers are catching on to the importance of video games and using the Gran Turismo series as a platform for promoting their vehicles, long before they ever appear in showrooms.

Of course, there’s no word if the rest of us will actually see the S-FR in GT6, or whether we’ll need to wait a few months to drive it in Gran Turismo Sport. We’ll keep an eye out for more details.

The front fascia reminds me of a wide-mouthed bass fish.

My bet is on Sport. Why? Because GT6 is pretty much done. Polyphony has shown that as soon as a new game is released they’ll ditch the old. As was the case with GT5 shortly after 6 was released.

I kind of like it actually. Under 1000 kgs, slap a turbo on it to get the power up to the 250 hp range and it could be a force to be reckoned with at 450pp.

So, we should probably expect this thing with the Bugatti a Hyundai VGT’s? I saw the Bugatti in the video for GT Sport, but I hope we get to try it on GT6 first.

only thing I don’t like about the car is that it only has one color. I hope we can tune it, but I think it’s going to be just like the FT-1. Still like it though!

No, we’ll see it in GT6. They wouldn’t go through all the trouble just to not include it.

I bet it’ll just be a stiffer and ultimately worse miata. Not saying it’ll be bad.

I don’t think so but I would welcome it. Especially if it came with the track editor installed into the game instead of having to use an app. It would work on PS4 because of the touchpad

Also at GT6 release there was talk of a touch screen interface…of which we have not really exspeareanced yet…GT6 looks very touchscreeny….

I think yes.Actually if you look at the last photo,it states that the section is like a demo which people can try out GT6(you can see the ‘6’ to know it’s about GT6 as well).

The Front of the car looks awfully designed in my opinion, like it’s trying to be a mini-version of the FT86, and well I see no reason to not add it in, make it the final car for GT6 before GTS comes out.
