So it begins. September is going to be a busy month for racing game fans, and the first title in the lineup — V-Rally 4 — is now available on PS4 and XB1 in Europe.
The game is developer Kylotonn Racing’s second of 2018, coming off the well-received Isle of Man TT: Ride on the Edge. That also means its official WRC franchise is taking the year off. In its place, Kylotonn is offering players a more action-oriented rally racer, bringing back a name that’s lied dormant for over a decade.
V-Rally 4 features over 50 cars, spread across five categories: rally, V-rallycross, hillclimb, buggy, and extreme-khana. From the humble Honda CR-Z to Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima’s 1000hp Suzuki Pikes Peak special, the full car list is surprisingly diverse. You can even drive the car that won the event in 2017.
If you’re on PC, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer to jump into VR4’s mud puddles. It touches down there September 25. In a surprising (and welcome) move, Kylotonn isn’t leaving Nintendo Switch players in the cold either. The game will arrive on the hybrid system later in the year, though no exact date is available currently.
