Forza Motorsport 6 releases this Thursday the 10th for early-access players, and next week for the remainder of the globe. GTPlanet has early access to the full version of the game, and now that reviews are popping up online, we can start showing you some of the different aspects of the game.
Join me (@SlipZtrEm) starting at 22:00 UTC (click here to convert to your local time) to get a peak at Forza 6. Take part in the Twitch chat to ask any questions you might have, and I should be able to answer. I’ll also be taking (reasonable) requests for those looking to see a particular car/track.

I know who he is, but I have no problem discussing with him.
A big thank you to those that came to watch, and made it far more popular than I anticipated: we were at over 300 viewers when I finished (almost an hour later then planned – it’s addictive). As ever, it’s good to see GTPlanet members keeping things civilized in a chat compared to some less-than-pleasant individuals.
Thank you for remembering me! ;D
Amazing what a competent group of developers can do in a relatively short period of time (compared to PD).
Don’t think that’s fair to say. I mean T10 is madeup of around 300 people and plus they out source some of there work. While PD doesn’t and there madeup of around 150 people
Why not? Just because they choose to do something a certain way shouldn’t be a reason to exclude them from a comparison.
Although, I feel they both have their strengths.
Exactly. PD chose their method of producing games and T10 chose theirs. One way produces games far faster than the other. Different choices, different results. PD has the option of outsourcing and certainly has the budget to do what T10 does if they choose to. They don’t choose to.
Whether it’s their choice or not, it’s still not a simple, fair comparison. If we’re merely talking about speed, it’s a matter of common sense with twice as many people and outsourcing, but it’s a different story if the comparison is in the sense of developer skill and quality which this seems to be.
If a choice they made is holding them back, that does not make it a viable reason as to why a comparison shouldn’t be made. Regardless if its about time, skill, quality, man power, features, physics, car count, graphics, or even which Generation they ended up on.
Its all up on the table, and the decisions each developer made to get to the results that we have will all be compared the same way.
What I don’t think is fair is saying “you know what, we can’t talk about that for the other developer, because they chose to take a different route.” If that is the case, not one single thing is fair to compare towards each other for anything in existence.
PD’s choices and way is why I’m no longer a customer. Seems fair to compare to me.
The stream was great to watch.
@daus26, this is about as fair a comparison as you can get. Both teams come to the table with massive resources to essentially create the same game. If anything, PD has a massive advantage with their 5 year head start and generally more time with each game to create more of a “masterpiece”. These are two of the most comparable gaming franchises in all of gaming. PD is winning in some areas, T10 in others and both offer something a little different for players.
“Why not? Just because they choose to do something a certain way shouldn’t be a reason to exclude them from a comparison.”
Well, have you ever figured the budget for 300 subcontractors in dozens of separate studios around the globe? It won’t come cheap, I assure you, but since MS is swimming in cash, they can afford to spend like the US gubmint. And of course no Forza budget has ever been revealed, nor likely ever will. That’s most likely why almost no one else does it either.
PD’s budget is super high! We saw the figures for GT5 and it was astronomical. Considering how small their team is and how much profit they make, you’d figure they’d invest in game development: add many more people, get in contact with new manufacturers (RUF still standard, WTF. Koenigsegg?). The brand is too popular and too profitable for sloppy sequels are created in 3-4 years (which is incredibly long compared to Forza titles). PD has been doing it all wrong post-PS2 era. The golden age is done. I assume many gamers would like to see the series revive its former glory, but with Kaz at the helm, I don’t know..
The only people who assume “many gamers” want Gran Turismo to rise from such a dismal level of disrepair, think Gran Turismo is in a dismal level of disrepair. Supposedly GT5 was that game, and yet it may have sold 11 million copies by now. Seems like gamers and the hard core see this series a little differently.
The naysayers have been proclaiming the demise of Gran Turismo since the arrival of Enthusia, GTR and Live For Speed, games which have died or remain niche fascinations. And even though we have yet to see what Gran Turismo is going to be on PS4, people here are happy to prophesy doom before a pixel of it has yet to be seen. Meanwhile, the series has been improving as it goes, Kaz keeps hiring people periodically, and the game is being worked on. We shall see.
Wait, are you going to sit here and pretend that Sony and PD don’t have cash to be able to do the same thing? Thats pretty ridiculous, especially considering that PD to Sony is essentially the exact same thing as MS to T10. They are both their flagship properties, so they are both swimming in cash.
Any way to sneak in that comment, I guess, since you’ve already been told numerous times that you can’t use M$ anymore.
Lol, that’s as if to say that because they didn’t sell as much, they aren’t good games or didn’t beat GT. You act as if this isn’t a good game,
“The only people who assume “many gamers” want Gran Turismo to rise from such a dismal level of disrepair, think Gran Turismo is in a dismal level of disrepair.”
I’m confused.. Isn’t that painfully obvious?
What’s more odd is you put more faith in what might happen, rather then acknowledging what is happening. Choices by PD are negatively effecting it’s future in alot of peoples eye’s, but because you don’t think so you automatically throw all those ideas that are against yours out the window, and act as if they are a minority. Minority or not, they are still part of the user base, and it is a big group of people that think that way as well.

Whoops wrote it in the wrong area.
