Round 3 of the 2022 Gran Turismo World Series Manufacturers Cup will be broadcast today, November 6, starting at 1300 UTC.
It’s the final chance for the brand-affiliated drivers to score World Series points before the World Final at the end of the month, and the championship is finely poised.
Subaru currently leads the championship, with two wins in the three events thus far. Double world-champion Takuma Miyazono took the opening win at Watkins Glen, before Daniel Solis and Kylian Drumont won at Trial Mountain in the Showdown, to sit on maximum points.
However Toyota fought back with a victory through Igor Fraga in Round 2 at Spa-Francorchamps, closing the gap at the top to three points.
Current Standings
- Subaru – 10 points
- Toyota – 7 points
- Mazda – 5 points
- Mercedes-AMG – 5 points
- Nissan – 3 points
- Genesis – 2 points
- Volkswagen – 1 point
That means that, with three points available for the win, Subaru will head into the World Final in first, no matter what happens this weekend, but it could be tied on points with Toyota.
The race takes place over 16 laps of the returning — and reconfigured — Deep Forest circuit. It’s similar to Spa in terms of average cornering speeds, elevation changes, and time spent on full throttle, and the fuel consumption and tire degradation rates are close to September’s event too.
That could again suit Toyota, which is represented by former Asia-Oceania champion Ryota Kokubun in place of Fraga this weekend. Kylian Drumont, a revelation in the championship this season, will again pilot the Subaru, with Giorgio Mangano returning for third-place Mazda.
Up until the broadcast starts, you can enter your guess for who will take victory on a special in-game portal called “Bonus Campaign“. Pick the winner and you’ll earn 500,000cr for your GT7 bank balance.
The race will broadcast at 1300 UTC on Sunday November 6, with the corresponding Nations Cup show coming one week later on Sunday November 13. Then all that remains is the live World Final to crown the 2022 champions.
