The last time Chris Hemsworth was in New York, he helped to demolish a lot of it. Well, at least as “Thor” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It didn’t go quite so badly this time, at least for the city.
Hemsworth was a guest at the New York ePrix round of the FIA Formula E championship. The Australian actor, who’s also played F1 legend James Hunt on the silver screen, got the chance to drive the series’ promotional vehicle on the Brooklyn street circuit.

Formula E live-streamed the demonstration run on its page and, typically, it didn’t go especially well.
After a short familiarization session, Hemsworth seemed to misjudge the power delivery of the electric car. Rounding Turn 7, outside the Cruise Terminal, he put the hammer down and soon found the car swapping ends.
Fortunately, despite two brushes with the barriers, there was no damage to either the car or the Norse deity — proving that Captain America is Brooklyn’s only real superhero.
We can’t say the same for Hemsworth’s pride but even so, the incident was less embarrassing than his role in Ghostbusters…
