Details about the next Gran Turismo 7 update have been revealed a bit early, and it brings confirmation of the first new track location in the game since launch: Watkins Glen International Circuit.
For motorsports fans, Watkins Glen needs no introduction. “The Glen” is one of the most famous and historic racing circuits in the United States, located roughly 260 miles northwest of New York City.
Since it opened in 1956, it has hosted nearly every major racing series including the IMSA SportsCar Championship, NASCAR, IndyCar, the World Sportscar Championship, and was home to the United States Grand Prix for nearly twenty years between 1961 and 1980.
It is a fast, flowing track that winds its way through the hills of New York State with plenty of elevation changes and cambered corners. Both the “Long Course” and “Short Course” layouts will be available in GT7, and this is the first time the track has ever been featured in a Gran Turismo title.
New Cars Confirmed
As we were already able to confirm thanks to a tweet from GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, three new cars will also be coming to the game in 1.17.
The big headline is the return of one of the most famous and popular cars in the 25-year history of the GT franchise: the 1998 Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Special. Other additions include a Ford 1932 Roadster and the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo (Gr.3 Version).
New Cafe Menu Books
Last and certainly least, three new Menu Books will be added to the Gran Turismo Café and will be open to all players who have achieved the various Collector Levels, including:
- ‘Collection: Toyota 86’ (Collector Level 20)
- ‘Collection: Honda Type R’ (Collector Level 20)
- ‘Collection: Rotary Engine’ (Collector Level 32)
Update 1.17 Availability
