If you fancy yourself as a two-wheeled esports champion, recently released motorbike racer TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2 has a competition that should pique your interest.
The competition will run from June 13 to June 25, and the eventual winner will secure the top prize: a trip for two to the 2021 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races. One runner-up will also win a limited edition Arai bike helmet, with TT branding. The competition is open to all PS4 and PC players of ROTE2.
In total there’ll be three stages, and they’re coming pretty fast. First there’s an open qualification, over the Circuit of Ireland — a gentle, 14.35-mile loop set on fictional roads — from June 13 to 17. That will select the top 50 players overall. After that stage it’s on to the real thing: the Snaefell Mountain Course. You’ll have a weekend, from June 20 to 22, to set a top-ten lap over the 37.73-mile circuit.
The grand final takes place on June 25, and will be a six-lap race of the full Isle of Man TT course, recreating the showpiece “Senior TT” race. That will determine the winner and runner-up spots.
Ahead of that, Kylotonn Racing is staging an exhibition “teams” race. The event will run from June 2 to 6, filling in for the real-world 2020 Isle of Man TT which should be in full swing right now if not for global events. Eight real-life TT riders, such as game cover star Davey Todd, will team up with eight “experienced players”, with the best aggregate lap times taking the Virtual TT title.
