The return of the popular Weekly Race Series (WRS) to GTPlanet saw a staggering turnout for its first week on Gran Turismo 5 with a record-shattering 173 submissions for the first combo! A huge round of congratulations are in order from the Race Admin team and the whole community for overall winner GTP_JoshMuggo (Division 1 Silver) who hustled his Camaro Z28 ’69 around Tsukuba Circuit faster than anyone else, to flying Finn GTP_Sutuki (Div 1 Silver) and multiple previous WRS winner GTP_eclipsee (Div 1 Gold) for rounding out the podium with similarly spectacular laptimes. Further congratulations go to divisional winners GTP_osrg (Division 2), GTP_Plattsy_77 (Division 3), GTP_DODC (Division 4) and GTP_G30_Hellas (Division 5) for superb performances in their respective divisions, especially when considering the sheer number of competitors these guys were up against this week. Full results can be found here
Results are currently provisional as the process of replay verification is underway, and may remain provisional for some time afterwards seeing as how the 1.06 Update occurred slap-bang in the middle of WRS Week 1, which requires further verification by the Race Admin team.
Moving on….

We’re proud to announce WRS Week 2 – “Supraman VIII” was posted on Sunday night, celebrating the 8-year anniversary of the very first WRS combo ever posted back in the days of Gran Turismo 3! With over 100 names on the leaderboard for Week 2 already, the fierce competition from Week 1 has clearly not abated, so why not join your fellow GTP Registry members in improving your own skills and driving technique as well as engaging in some of the friendliest yet stiffest competition you will ever encounter in GT5?
* * *
Remember, you WILL need to be officially registered and placed in a division to take part, and the posting of final laptimes are strictly prohibited until the results are announced after the submission deadline of Monday February 28th 11:59pm (GMT). Competitors are asked to only post their first, second and third sector times in the discussion thread, then check how they are stacking up on the WRS leaderboard here. Final times are to be submitted directly to the WRSFetchbot that runs the leaderboard, details of which can be found again here
If you are new to the series and the GTP Registry, feel free to introduce yourself to the WRS community here
If you’re still interested in joining the GTP Registry but missed the initial submission deadline, here’s what to do next:
STEP 1: Create a GTP_Tag PSN account here
STEP 2: Wait a few weeks until the Registry Qualifier is opened again and then run the GTP WRS Qualifier. Details here
STEP 3: Submit your qualifier times when the registry re-opens and await divisional placement.
Further detailed information on all of the above can be found in this very useful post, and can be discussed on the forums here
Potential competitors are asked to first of all run an official WRS qualifier combo selected by the GTP Race Admin team in order to be placed in a division appropriate to their ability. It has been WRS tradition for competitors to not only be able to win a weekly race overall, but also take glory in their own division. Due to the new physics engine of GT5, all interested drivers are asked to run the new-for-GT5 qualifier.
Some important information:
- The GTP WRS is run according to our strict but fair Online Racing (OLR) rules and guidelines found here
- Registry Qualifier times and any information pertaining to them must be kept confidential and only revealed to Race Admin staff during submission
- The WRS is mainly a time-trial / hotlapping contest, but your GTP_tag and divisional status will be used for upcoming official GTP Race Events
- It might be a good idea if you’re interested to see how the WRS has been run in the past and what it entailed. The archive can be found here and the details of the GT5:Prologue WRS here
Remember to have fun and always show respect for your competitors. The WRS has never been a win-at-all costs kind of competition, but with prominent members of other GT forums such as GTRP, GTro and GT5rs also popping in from time to time and having a go, the best drivers that compete in the GTP_WRS are well recognised in the online community! So if you think you have what it takes, join us in the WRS forums
Congrats to all. I hope to one day have some spare time to be able to compete with everyone
Hey Jordan!
Can you take one of mine photos, I want more views :D

Not a troll sorry follower!
Oh sorry, thats right, your the guy who’s amazing and can beat us all but is too scared to participate. Posting *yawn* in a thread is classic trolling. I’m sure you’ll have a ‘witty’ comeback but I’m not going to respond again as, unlike you, I have a life. Happy trolling little man
? ???
What ?
Hahahaha!!!!!
•Yawn•
Yes you are very boring – you did this joke ;ast week and it wasnt funny. Care to troll somewhere else
I’m loving the WRS so far. All the people in the forums complaining about lack of things to do in GT5 need to join the WRS. Every week I will get a new event to compare myself to the rest of the community. That is longevity right there in my opinion.
Congratulations to all on the podium and to all GTP entrants also, a cracking week of entries, i hope it continues in this fashion!
OLR Team, despite PD being awkward and deciding to release an update mid WRS (how unthoughtful of them) a big thankyou for sorting it all out!
Alex
Outstanding work done by all the Admin staff to get the WRS up and running. Truly could not think of a better bunch of guys for the job
And a big well done to everyone who took part in the first week. You are all winners.
You people behind the scenes did an outstanding job, getting 173 people participating for the first week. For the first week I didn’t put enough laps in it for an acceptable time, because I didn’t like it. However I absolutely love week 2 and I will be putting a lot of laps in it. I look forward to many more WRS weeks and I’ll try from now on to be there whenever I can.
Congratulations to all who made their goal for week 1.
And thanks to all who took part. It’s nice to see so many people around here, though I have to try a lot harder for the same results now. :)
Very nice.. Was an amazing turn out. Great stuff from all the participants and GTP Race Admin team!
Congrats to all participants and winners.
A special thanks to the organizing team. It’s so much fun to participate on the WRS. I’ve done 2 events so far and I wish I’ve joined earlier too.
Just waiting for my wooden spoon to be delivered after the results of week one!!
Outstanding work done by all concerned in the setting up of this new GT5 WRS, prologue was a great success and GT5 looks set to follow in its footsteps. Not only the race admin team, but also the guys behind the scenes setting up and maintaining the WRS leader board, right down to the tester of some of the combo’s.
It’s a pleasure to be a part of this great series and enjoy the company and camaraderie of the members each week, I for one am aiming for 100% attendance this time round.
Congrats to all that took part in the first week new and old, look forward to seeing the same in week two.
Phillip.
