It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No, not Christmas. Black Friday has grown immensely in recent years: originally a North American tradition, its influence has spread across the globe and now most countries have their own equivalent sale period each November. The games industry is no stranger to getting involved and Microsoft have just announced the discounts to expect from their digital Xbox Store.
The list is long and hearty, with deals across every genre imaginable and through both generations of the Xbox brand. However, the most notable inclusions are those from the racing genre — and there are some tempting deals vouching for your hard-earned cash providing you have Gold membership.
On Xbox One, the true stand-out is the inclusion of DiRT Rally. The simulation venture by Codemasters came out on console this year and we loved it. You’ll be able to redeem a huge 60% discount which brings the title down to $24/£22 – and you’ll get a lot value at a price point that low. Last year’s Forza Motorsport 6 also gets a price-drop down to $25/£25, so if you’ve held off on the Xbox flagship racer perhaps now would be a good time to jump in.
There’s a plethora of deals and Major Nelson of the Xbox division has listed all the deals across the 360 and Xbox One on a tidy page. If you’re simply a huge racing fan though, we’ve sampled the list and taken the best bits to help you find your bargain of choice:
Xbox One:
- DiRT Rally – £22/$22
- Forza Motorsport 6 Standard Edition – £25/$25
- Forza Motorsport 6 Deluxe Edition – £42.89/$45.49
- Forza Motorsport 6 Ultimate Edition – £61.49/$67.49
- Forza Motorsport 6 VIP Membership -£4/$5
- F1 2016 – £30.24/$33
- The Crew – £6.60/$9.90
- TrackMania Turbo – £12/$16
Xbox 360:
The deals are live now and there’s a good selection of racing titles on offer from the official Xbox Store. It’s good to see that an exchange rate has actually been maintained in the reductions and for the most part it isn’t simply a conversion of the US price to other currencies.

I noticed the prices are the same or very close to the BF prices for Xbox Live Member purchases right now.
Are purchases made using Live discounted prie playable only if you maintain your Live membership?
Are the the game downloads the same as the game shipped on physical disc?
Its the same prices as they are Part of said Deal.
Yes, Everything you purchase will forever be yours, regardless of your membership status. The only Thing you can not keep are Xbox One Games that you get “for free” with Games with Gold.
And yes, the games are exactly the same as those on Disc.
i dont know where you live but i live in Germany and some Games are censored here, what i do then is switch the Console Region to USA and get the uncensored Download.
