please ask
Is anyone else experiencing the following issues with the below?

The Settings:
Open or Private Lobby
4 to Max Participants

Issues: 1 or two parties do not see each other while on track qualifying, racing and nor do they show up each other race results? Odd thing being, other parties can see everyone else on track and see the true race results?

Simply put, while there should be say 10 people playing, there should be 10 people in the race results. Issues that I have been seeing is that only 9 folks show up in the results and that 1 other player has never been seen on track, results or replays....I can only see the other person while on the main screen of the lobby.

Host connection sometimes gives out error message of non compatibility notice...but this is something recent I believe after the update.

This only started back in April 20th that I've noticed personally.

Update was only on April 22nd....so doubting it was an update issue with the lobby.

Appreciate any feed backs 👍.

Yes, experienced it myself several times, not something of the last time either. :) It must be some connection issue.

Sometimes when I'm on the track, some players actually show up just out of nowhere.

What NAT Type do you have?
Currently it is showing Type 2 and says Bandwidth High. Sometimes it says Standard, but that happens when I have more than 1 PS3 fired up.

 Thankfully never had someone just pop in during a run. Hum, I believe you are mainly in open lobby's?

So this is not just a Open or Private Lounge issue. By chance do you recall how far back this started to happen? Only other time that this happened not to me was back in April 6th. 1 Player had issues with connections and when he finally got back in from being booted, he could not see another player racing... He could see he was in the lobby, but no where in the track.

PD and Servers it could be then?

Lately the booting has not been too bad like a few weeks ago, but id rather get booted vs racing someone that I don't even know is in the track.

This has not happened to me, but a week ago or so a guy who repeteadly pushed me off track kept claiming that he could not see two of the other drivers (one of them being me), and that he was only racing against three people, when we were six including him. At the moment of course I didn't believe him and thought it was only an excuse to avoid being kicked, but maybe he was telling the truth...

No, not sure about that Bud

My experience = 3 times now. 1 per week and just kills it for me.

You can tell if a person is on track at the main lobby. Basically the car and details of said person's settings are highlighted when you move the cursor over their PSN ID. But it clearly shows the car that they are in as it relays back and forth from Car to ID while their on the track.

When I have the issues, it just shows a player still in the main lobby and not on track and same thing while I am on the track, they are not present at all. I have not experienced anyone telling me I was moving them or thumping them without me knowing I was doing it...so maybe you were right to suspect them.

Last time we both confirmed not being able to see each other on track and my replay confirms he was not. Yet everyone got a totally different result of the races. So for no one has told me if we mirror each other on track or got in each other lines and what happened when we did.

Basically game acts like the other person was never there when this issue comes up. ... .confirmed via my own replays and race results.

I only host, so from my perspective this is what I see.

First, this is not new. It has been going on for as long as I can remember. It has to do with everyone’s PS3s not communicating with one another.

Second, I always see everyone on the track. If I would not be able to see them they would not be able to join the room in the first place and would get an error when they tried to join.

The drivers that can’t see each other don’t notice that anything is wrong. You can be behind two people that don’t see each other and their cars are bouncing off of each other, sometimes one will get popped up into the air as both cars try to occupy the same real estate on the track at the same time.

It is nearly impossible to make a clean pass of the two until one gets past the other.

It often happens to the same person(s). That is, I have a few friends that this happens to quite often. It can usually be fixed if that person leaves the room and comes back. The other night a friend asked how many people were in the last race. I checked the results and told him 10, he only saw four, so he left and when he returned he could see everyone.

It happens more often when the person is from a different country. There was an Argentinean in my room last week. I was following him. I’m not sure how many people he saw in the race, but the room was full and every car I watched him pass was a big banging car hopping mess. Sadly I ended up kicking him, because it was so disruptive.

Like I have said, this can often be fixed if the driver that can’t see people leaves and comes back.

Thanks Chrunch for the informative post. Think I might of been in one of your rooms. PP400 range at Trial Mountain a month or so back.

 Got a picture of a car flying sky high in my gallery! But, for sure that was generated due to serious lag issues. Multiple parties getting booted and a few attempts by the booted to join back in.

Oddly for me it has only started a few weeks ago. I only started really playing in the lobby back in Mid Feb of this year and in private lobby's. They are hosting it from the UK though. 2nd time this happened, I did leave and had a heck of a time trying to rejoin, but the party that I could not see did appear. I should of risked it the 3rd time, but one member tried many times and could not get in...opted not too which was a mistake.

So it does not look like a good future for me then.....! Impossible to race a series if one of the players that you are battling for points can't be seen or know the true results.

Have you noticed this getting worse or just about normal?

I have had a problem where one person can not see another person while they are both on the track. It's very strange. Sometime you can simply drive in and out of the pits and that might fix it. More often you will need to exit the lobby and rejoin, but even that doesn't work sometimes. I guess this problem is due to the 2 users not having compatible internet connection, if this makes any sense.

I've been having connection & lagging issues for the past several weeks :grumpy: even though I'm NAT 2 & have a strong internet connection. One thing I noticed is that I can't leave my PC on, even when it's in sleep mode, because that makes the issue worse. I've not had these problems before, & it's ruining my racing fun with my friends. 👎

Yup, I've been having to disconnect my PC and my iPhone from my WiFi in order to make sure that my PS3 connection is good.

I don't have that specific problem more often than before (actually occurs very rarely to me). But since this thread is about recent lobby issues I'll put this here:

A problem I have since I updated to 2.12 is that friends who I had no problems playing with suddenly can't join my lobbies anymore. They keep getting incompatibility or even blocked from room errors (when I didn't kick them). It's not just 1 or 2, just during yesterday's cruise room I hosted there were 10 different people who tried several times and couldn't join throughout the time I was running the room. The odd thing is that those people who did get into the room had no connection problems at all, no unusual lag, each sees everyone on track, no DCs either.

This has been like this in every lobby I hosted since I updated to 2.12, which would be 4 or 5 rooms on different days with different people in the past 1 1/2 weeks. I had no such problems with playing with these friends before the update, and I know most of them since months/years.

@ JasonGT, I wish it was that easy to just drive in and out of the pits to cure my particular issue. Even exiting the track and going back in did nothing in regards with seeing the other player on the track. Leaving the Lobby entirely and getting back in if possible did do it.

@ Chrunch Houston, I rarely get lag but do experience it once in a while. I can deal with lag just a little more vs not seeing a player...for now id take that over not seeing someone on the track.

@ KiroKai, appreciate the post and your observation. Do agree that recent Maintenance to their servers have increased booting of players, but last one might of helped a bit in fixing it a bit? I believe something is up when folks that once could join and suddenly cannot has to be with the recent update or Maintenance.

Last random update prior to the week of the double header maintenance, we had a down time without any prior notice....Believe that was when all the random booting issues came up. Never noticed anyone getting booted before by servers or to the extent that I seen.

Wishing PD puts a fix into this. Lobby's are extremely fun, but frustratingly buggy lately.

Driving in and out of the pits surprisingly worked once for me. Now I have to leave the lobby and sometimes even reset my router.

sometimes even reset my router.

if i am going to race online i reset my router and try not have anything else connected to my router, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.

feel a bit guilty when I am racing and can see empty slots on the grid but in reality there is someone there and I know I am going to hit them at some point during the race even though it won't affect me

This is a serious problem for a lot of people, and this is killing the game.

Our group has not been able to run races do to on going issues, such that has been posted. Is this game dead, or will they address the problems.

Nat type 2, All system cash cleared, ultra high internet, connection great, all parties on high speed.

THE ABILITY TO FINISH RACE WITHOUT BEING KICKED OUT, NOT LOADING UP,FROZEN BY BLACK SCREEN, INVISABLE RACERS ( PRICELESS )

OK find it odd that 1 person might be the cause of my issues. Today it was just not me either as in not being able to see 1 or more person, but most importantly not being able to get back in right away or the initial attempt.

Settings: Private Lobby. Could not get into tonight's main room at the first attempt until I tried someone else PSN ID that was already in. Oddly, that person that I clicked onto could not then in turn see me when on track. He then did the trick of leaving and getting back in but he had a few attempts at it before he finally got in.

During the race, one member just got booted in lap 14 or so and I was in a heated battled with JKT008 for the entire race. All of the sudden at lap 18 he gets booted too, so I feel cheated that we could not battle for the finish line!

Getting annoying PD! Especially when both booted parties were most likely having a great time and we are trying to run a series!

SoCal,

Same problem here with our group. check thread by FlyingFox ( playstation DMZ Connection tutorial )My brother is a exec at I.B.M. and he has stated that this is a very common problem with regards to modems and or routers.

My bother is coming over to adjust settings with PSN network and router, I will post our findings tonight or tomorrow after testing. keep your fingers crossed.

Sorry guy's, had system checked out by IBM nerds, hard wired system, great down and upload speeds, tested everything, all good, new router, PD and Sony problem.
We tested for hours last night, problems every time. People could not see each other, people getting kicked, very slow load up times, and also on open lobbies we noticed that a large portion of rooms with zero signal bars strength.

The question is why is no one looking at this problem. GT6 on the way, I say no way.

Oddly, I have been decent lately. Others around the lobby has started to have my issues where they cannot see each other. This happened to them this past Saturday but on Monday, no issues.

Seems like a hit / miss situation and when I personally get into the lobby. Though the one suspect remains in question, but my fix now is to get out and try to get back in and hope no issues getting in or causing someone else to have my issue.

PD does need to make sure their servers are better down the road though. But I presume they will as the level of expecting from users will be much higher.

If other people aren't taking the same measures yours will not be as effective unfortunately. Also, you say you tested everything, did that include ping? I apologise for the patronising question, it's just that that's what the bars mean.

so true,
most of the group have now hard wired our PS3's and have made changes as per the earlier thread, and I am happy to say that some of us have noticed a change for the good. I myself am not getting kicked and I am able to now see all on the track, load times are now a lot quicker,we only lost the ones that did not have a solid connection.

Racers using wireless connections please be aware that it only takes a little interference to corrupt your room and or lobby. Also the modems that your cable or internet provider gives you may not be up to par, do not hesitate to upgrade or at least replace, they can degrade over time.

This has been a long and frustrating road for our race group, but with the help from these threads and forums we are now on our way to completing our race series.
thanks, from one Die Hard Racer

I have had this happen to me a number of times. My console is hard-wired to router, with signal coming from cable modem.

My suspicion is that it some conflict or issue in the router, probably related to brands. I'm using a Belkin. When this happens, I successfully resolve the issue every time by power cycling the router.

AR!!! I have the same NAT Type 2 and High Bandwidth. I suffer mainly from random server disconnections. I also get the occasional instance of not seeing a countdown at race start and everyone seems to just stay in place when in actuality they started racing but I couldn't see it.

I am sure you would of done great again today if it was not for that random Booting!

Hopefully PD will do something about all this before GT6 comes out! Connectivity is so crucial now a days. Not entertaining when you cant see true results, parties or just random boots in the butt.
